Interesting casting. Peter Sarsgaard was never on my personal radar for Hector Hammond, know quite a few people on here suggested him for the role. I've liked him in the movies I've seen him in, he definitely has the snark factor going for him nicely. I'm sure he'll do fine.

They didn't look at who the fans wanted for Carol. That's for sure.

Yeah no kidding.

The casting of Sarsgaard is somebody we'd expect Martin Campbell to make, a solid character actor who will likely rock the part...and then there is poor hopelessly miscast Blake Lively who will be the butt of our jokes for years to come in the screwed up "it girl" tradition of Alicia Silverstone, Katie Holmes, Kate Bosworth and Jessica Alba.

No, apparently she's an incredible actress. I think it's like the initial reaction to Reynolds.

Yeah, she's much better than the actresses Philly mentioned. Except Bosworth who, outside of SR, is actually very good.

Wait a minute. Isn't this the Saarsgard/Hammond thread? :woot:

This is a Great Choice I liked him in Jarhead and loved him in The Orphan.

I have gone on record on these message boards saying that the studios always comb through new Oscar nominees to play supervillains. Peter Sarsgaard is getting a lot of awards attention for An Education, and will probably be nominated for an Academy Award.

Now he's Hector Hammond. Coincidence? I THINK NOT. :word:

OMG YES YES YES - I love him! And he is married to Zoey Deafshfgoajbgagljkagjhla

I like this choice! FINALLY we're getting the casting news that we've been so patiently waiting for!! .....I wonder if he'll have the 'stache?!

I've only seen him in Jarhead. He was great in that. What else has he been in in?

He was also in Kinsey. He made out with Ra's al-Ghul himself, Liam Neeson, and is about as shy Ryan Reynolds is when it comes to nude scenes.

He made out with teh Neeson?!?! Some of the bad assness must of transferred over to him.

I don't love the casting so far to be honest, but I am still really looking forward to this film.

Dude! Wha...I see Reynolds and Lively worrying but Skarsgard is solid. Hammond the character is ridiculous though.

Hammond is no more ridiculous than a space cop who has a ring powered by the universes collective will power.

Well since you put it that way...

:funny: Sorry I just remembered what Hammonds head looks like :funny:

I've only loved the idea of some casting choices in a few comicbook movies. When the casting comes up in most of them I'm not jumping up and down and yes boys that includes the new Batman movies.

I didn't follow the first Spider-Man movie's casting because I wasn't an uber nerd then so I had no opinion on that.

I always look forward to newbie casting just to see if the guy is good. Thor and Superman Returns casting comes to mind. The point is some casting gets me damn excited in comicbook flicks but most doesn't. I'm excited for RR but he is a safe choice so it's not uber exciting from a certain standpoint. Still I think that he will surprise some of the doubters and knock it out of the park. The Lively casting is strange but it's a par for the course choice for WB. Sarsgard is a good actor and he needs more work so it sounds good too me.

Overall I'm more postive than nagative on the choices that have been made so far.
