I don't think it will drop bad. The WOM is good, from what I can tell.

I liked the movie as a whole. A good solid piece of summer entertainment. But it isn't a lick on the first movie which I think deserves a place next to Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark. This is more like Temple of Doom or Back to the Future Part II, entertaining, but slightly disappointing as it is EVERYWHERE. I think the last act was every bit as good as the first film but the first act was slow and pointless and you could just so easily have cut things like the cannibal island and Elizabeth haunting the ship with her dress and no one would have been the wiser or cared.

The second act really picks up but it just seems to be msising something as the story is kicking into gear finally....halfway through the movie. It isn't until we're rocketing towards the conclusion that the movie finds its steam. A good summer movie, but far from great, which is what the first movie was.

But I'd recommend it, and so would everyone else. This movie I think is going to be proably the biggest hit of the last two years in cinemas.
That pretty much sums up my entire feelings about the film. I really hope At Worlds End (or whatever they choose to call 3) ends up pulling at Last Crusade. I was kinda upset the way the film just ended. I was expecting at least half an hour more. That whole cannibal scene wasnt really necessary. I liked it sure, but cutting it out really would have increased the momentum on this film. We didnt even get to see Davy Jones till what... half way through? I guess thats why the ending just felt like the middle of the film, because it basically is. I just hope this doesnt end up pulling a Matrix. A bit predictable too, I mean who didnt figured Barbossa would be returning? I hope he improves part 3 (and chances are he will considering how lack luster a villain Jones was).

I'd give this about a 7.5. A shame considering the pure brilliance of the original.

Just curious, who wasnt grinning cheek to cheek when
Barbossa
came down those stairs?

I "was" grinning, as soon as I saw the body the first time around they went to Tia, I knew it was him.

I was just wondering when all is said and done who would you like to see end up with Elizabeth. My guess is ofcourse Will for Johnny aka Jack Sparrow said he'd be up to doing a 4,5 and 6. Which i think should be a prequel.

Anyway which of the three should be with her. I know who i would choose but out of the three men.
Jack Sparrow.
Norrington.
Will Turner.
Which should Elizabeth commit to.
The smart Disney choice is Will. For Jack well he seems to pay frequent visits to free wemon in every port. Yet he could lead a lonelier life then he admits. I mean what better wife for a Pirate for Jack is the one who bested him and served him to Krakan.

I am not a disney zombie so I'd like to see a twist and Jack get the girl . He must care for her some for he was humming her song at the end of the first movie. She dissarms Jack for she is the only one to know how he truely got off the island. He can't fool Elizabeth and it may scare him. Yet he cant seem to help him self but be around her.

Wewll she was attracted to Jack on this movie. NOrrinigton noticed and mocked her with it and the compass TWICE pointed to him as the thing she most desired, which is why she was angry with it on the island. But she betrayed him to save her own hide and the lives of the men.

But I think she will end up with Will. If it doesn't that cheapens the first movie which won't sit well with audiences, plus the strapping young hero who works hard to save her life TWICE in Disney movies loses her to a filandering pirate? I doubt that will be the case though.
Do remember jack has saved her twice as well. When she was drawning and in the cave when he shot Barbossa. While he did not die then but Jack did distract Barbossa from shooting Elizabeth long enough to lift teh curse.

I wasn't...my jaw was on the floor. LOL...seriously I never saw it coming. Awesome twist!

QUESTION: Could someone explain to me how that game, Will, Bootsrap & Davey Jones were playing worked? I didn't get it.

I liked Dead Man's Chest.

I felt that the once Part 3 gets released, then the admiration for this one might grow.

While I prefer the first flick, DMC was damn entertaining.

It's nothing special, just the dog with the keys being worshiped on the cannibal island (he takes Jack's place).

While the rest is true, the song isn't really Elizabeth's song since it's pretty much the pirate anthem. Everyone knows "a pirate's life for me" and it's the song playing when you ride pirates at Disneyland.

She didn't really betray Jack.

Jack didn't have a problem with it, he seemed to understand.

You seem to be forgetting that Jack Sparrow is the strapping hero. Not Will. Besides, Jack was the one that saved her this time.

Good job ruining the credit cookie!

Jeez I didn't realise it would mean the end of the world if I didn't put spoiler tags for a pointless 2 second credit joke.

Yeah, I thought it was suppose to be something surprising,
I hate that dog.

Jack is not the hero...he is the scoundrel...he is the comic relief...he is the anti-hero. He is not the swashbuckling Errol Flyn type hero...Will Turner is. Jack can't effectively command his own crew. When the Kraken was attacking Jack was running around like a scared punk while WILL was taking control and shouting orders like a true captain. It was WILL that came up with the plan that wounded the Kraken long enough for them to escape, not Jack. You seem to be blinded by the Johnny Depp cool factor. Will is the hero, plain and simple.

will is the hero, jack the anti-hero.

Yeah, and Jack was on the last boat and paddling away while the rest of the crews were still battling their lives against the Kraken. It was not until he checked the compass and saw that it pointed to Pearl (or Elizabeth?) that he went back. This episode, along with the fact that he lied to Will to make him serve Davey Jones in order to save his hide, showed that he is a very self-serving kind of pirate. Which is what he supposed to be, not some heroic guy who does the right thing (that's the job for Will Turner).

I think what may explain the attraction of Jack for Elizabeth is that, she secretly craves pirates and "bad boys", and Jack fits both of these descriptions. Now she has to decide between her fiancee (whom she grew up with), or the infamous pirate captain. We shall see in At World's End.

question, do you guys think willaim will turn up like davy jones? the back story between the characters are very similar. davy jones once had a bride and was suppose to get married, but he lost her to another man. seems like its happening to william?

What's interesting is when Capt. Jack was telling Davey Jones about how Will has a bride whom he hadn't married yet, and how Davey could make these two lovebirds suffer as he did if he takes Will as his prisoner/crewman. I don't believe that Will will end up like Davey, but this subplot might get explored in part 3.

I think Pirates 3 will end with Will becoming the new Captain of the Flying Dutchman, and the new Davy Jones essentially.

I hope not, cause that would suck.

Yeah, I don't think moviegoers will want to see Orlando Bloom ended up as a mutated sea pirate who must spend his eternity onboard The Flying Dutchmen. This would also qualify as a sad ending, which I believe POTC3 will instead end on a happier note.

ha i knew it, it could happen. man that would be such a twist. either will or that norrington dude can end up as the second captain.

i dont think it'll suck stewie. i dont see what so bad about a sad ending.
