The widely hyped family adventure sequel, marking the return of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, sold an estimated $132 million worth of tickets in its first three days of release across North America, easily surpassing industry expectations of an opening in the $100 million range.

X-men is a short movie.

Pirates of The Carribbean was 145 minutes, makes $305 million in 2003.

Cars, the longest CG animated feature ever, showing more BO staying power than every other movie this summer. On tap to outdo Da Vinci Code and X-men 3.

Third Matrix wasn't really a long movie.

This is my opinion on the whole last part of this movie. People go on and on about how mucha coward Jack was. Will is teh hero and Jack is the anti hero.
Sure enough Jack traded Will but actually it worked out for Will and Jack. I think Jack hoped he could get the key and escape.

I think Jack would figure that Bootstrap would help his own son get free. Jack is always three steps ahead. Except for Elizabeth and Norrington. He just can never read Ms. Swann.

Jack may be a pirate and he could have escaped but he chose to come back. Jack came back and saved Will. Then for his one good deed Elizabeth betrays him. I think Will and Jack are better off without her.

Will i going to have to grow some coconuts and stand up to her ideals. I hope he doesn't just let the kiss go and be wimpy. He needs to make her answer questions.

LMAO! I just saw POTC2. OVERRATED!

It was a good movie, that's all it was. Nothing more. It wasn't as good as the first one, which means the opening weekend for the third one won't be as good. Even if the opening weekend from the third one beats $132M, SM3's opening weekend will still humble those numbers! Guaranteed!

After seeing the movie, I can now say that POTC2 is gonna be heavily frontloaded. $350M max.

Ask ANY kid in this world which movie they would rather see, POTC 3 or Spider-Man 3? They'll say SM3, guaranteed. I almost wish POTC 3, Shrek 3, and SM3 all came out on the same weekend so Spider-Man can massacer them and give them both the beatings they deserve for daring to step up as contenders.


Seeing as how SM1 made only $200 less per theater than POTC2, and it got released 4 years ago, taking into account rising prices and population and POTC2 was actually a sequel to a good movie and SM1 was not a sequel, it's a given the record will be be broken. I'm predicting a $160M. And that's just based on it being Sm3 alone and before factoring in Venom.

Hold on here Spiderman 2 made less then spiderman 1. they are going down not up. Pirates if these number holds for a while is going the other way. Also Spiderman 3 opens MAY 4TH And Pirates 3 has the memorial day weekend. Pirates is starting to have a fan ase now.

Now i am not saying Pirates 3 can beat P2 weekend hall. I doubt many will do that ever. Also do consider that comic book movies life force are kinda dying after the 1st weekend. Look what happened to Superman Returns and X-3.
