Sony's Shuhei Yoshida reacts to the 'Nintendo PlayStation'

Not long after our last intimate chat with Shuhei Yoshida, the President of Sony Computer Entertainment's Worldwide Studios at E3, a Redditor managed to dig up a prototype of the never-released "Nintendo PlayStation" that eventually led to the birth of Sony's very own gaming console. Naturally, when we caught up with Shuhei-san again at a Project Morpheus event in Hong Kong, we showed him our article on the priceless gem and asked for his thoughts. After some reminiscent giggles, the exec gave a brief account on the time he spent with a device with matching description, as you can see in our interview video after the break.

I think that game's platforms are just PS3 & Vita right now.

Profound sadness. :csad: I guess it was not meant to be. As literally only one of two games I had any interest in that was only on the PS3 I was hoping if there was a way to play it on the PS4 just for added incentive to get one beyond SF5 and Last Guardian.

If that's the case...

I imagine if you don't have the context that avatar just looks like a girl grabbing a robot dick or something.
LOL...it looks to me like some sort of bestowage.
Holy **** that is a gorgeous console.
i think the mgs Ps4 is still the best looking.
Well, I haven’t seen the Star Wars movie in my avatar yet either...

Now go watch Star Wars. :jedi

Dragon Quest Builders details protagonist, story, and gameplay
Published 11 hours ago. 69 comments.

New screenshots in this week's Jump magazine.

Jump this week has first details on Dragon Quest Builders, Square Enix’s newly announced block-making RPG for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita.
Get the details below.
Story
In the distant past there was a terrible battle between men and monsters. There was a hero, who was a central figure on the human side, who fell into the Dragonlord’s trap and was never heard from again. Having lost their mainstay, the humans were driven from the land in which they lived in this dark world, and their numbers decreased by the day. But time flows forward and our story begins when a young person appears in this ruined world ruled by the Dragonlord.
Characters

  • Protagonist – A hero (boy or girl) that possesses the special ability to create items from all things. Designed by Akira Toriyama.
  • Dragonlord – An evil sovereign who has been ruling the world for the long years since the humans lost their hero.
Gameplay
In the beginning, the world is empty. Players are tasked with creating items, towns, and castles, which they can do by collecting materials from all around the world. You can also battle monsters.
Yuji Horii Comment
“Dragon Quest Builders is a completely new block-making RPG where players must recapture and restore the land of Alefgard after it’s destroyed by the Dragonlord. The vast world of Alefgard is expressed through blocks, which players can freely create, destroy, and remodel as if they’re in a sandbox or playing with building blocks. Please try to create an innovative Alefgard!”
Dragon Quest Builders is due out this winter in Japan.
Thanks, @kazu4281.

I don't see why it has to be one or the other. Not everyone is interested in dealing with external HDDs, and HDDs are going to naturally increase as the generation goes on as last gen showed us with building 360 and PS3 storage with each new model. Not sure what issue you're seeing here.

Upgrading from a 500gb model to a 1tb model defeats the purpose of having the console offer the convenient feature of swappable hds.

No it doesn't. Not everyone wants to fool with or even knows how to switch out the HDD and transfer data from one drive to another.

They are just giving the consumers options. And using regular laptop drives that they already manufacture for their laptops lowers overhead.

Proprietary drives like MS use in their Xbox are needless and only serve a single purpose. Inconvenience the customer and it results in MS having to produce a HDD that's entirely useless in any other computer they make.

i would consider it foolish my own behalf if I bought another Ps4 just because I'm running out of space. In fact, because I have a Ps4 that's running out of space I am looking into getting a brolic hard drive.

You guys forget that we live in a world where people will buy new phones every 6 months (an exaggeration, of course) simply because a new one came out.

Some people actually stay far away from any kind of 'Do it yourself' method. Gamers are a little different because you get people who will invest and upgrade their PCs, but more often than not, the general consumer is going to opt to have someone else do it for them instead of doing something themselves. If selling your PS4 and using that towards the purchase of a more spacious one is simple for someone, they're going to opt to do that.

I have two PS3 controllers and they were almost non functional, but seeing as how I didn't a have a job, I opted to repair them myself and they work perfectly, whereas my brother has 6 controllers because his teenage son is always breaking them and buying a new one is the easier alternative for him.

Werent you the one that purchased a new PS4 for a color? i think more space is alot more practical than cosmetics
