What do you mean by good thoiugh? Do you mean good as in fair to the consumer, or good as in a business decision?
both. It isn't a good look to the informed consumer in my opinion, and it isn't a good business decision seeing as how the convenience of swappable hard drives is supposed to be a coveted feature on playstation.

Big question: When do we expect a new Red Dead game? That is, honestly, the main motivator for me to buy a PS4. A next gen Red Dead will rule the world.

I think you are missing the point of what they are doing with that kind of advertisement. Tech people, like me, who will eventually run out of space will replace my hard drive. Why? Because I know how to, I know that I can and I know that it'll be a few hundred dollars cheaper than buying a new PS4.

There are a lot of people that see the shiny new things, especially non-tech people who have no clue how to run the thing. They'll be the first to buy something like this in lieu of a simple upgrade. Not saying the majority or even close will, but it can be an easy sell to groups of people. Source: I work in tech.

Exactly.

Plus the PS3's hardrive was a standard 2.5 laptop HDD that could be replaced with any 2.5 laptop HDD, but that didnt stop Sony from releasing multiple versions of the PS3 with different size HDD's. The PS3 was released with 9 different size hardrives: 20 GB, 40 GB, 60 GB, 80 GB, 120 GB, 160 GB, 250 GB, 320 GB and 500 GB. So this is nothing new for the Playstation.

10. You're forgetting the 12gb model

No expectations on when right now. Probably won't be too long since GTAV is out now.

Coveted by certain people, not by others. Your argument really makes no sense at all here. You're basically saying that Sony giving users more options is anti-consumer.

me calling it coveted was a rephrasing of haunted knight calling it an expected feature this generation that would sway a lot of people if it wasn't present. i don't really care if my argument doesn't make sense to you, i'm not saying sony is being anti-consumer exactly, but this specific marketing campaign is them preying on the hopes that those who own a Ps4 but may not know about this feature.

It's pretty much exactly what you're saying, and it's just not accurate. Options are good, not bad, this isn't misleading nor unexpected.

What I'm saying is promoting the idea of buying another Ps4 just for a bigger hard drive isn't a good one, not when the console itself has the convenience of swappable hard drives.

Anytime there is a revision or HDD upgrade, it will be advertised. Just the nature of things. As long as they don't remove the feature of an upgradable HDD, what could it possibly matter? Did you just start gaming this gen? There's nothing here.

I'm not saying don't advertise an hd upgrade, I'm saying don't make it look like buying another console with a bigger hard drive is a good idea, when the console itself is designed to attain bigger hard drives easily from the get go.

Experience and Inti Creates have released a new set of Gal Gun: Double Peace screenshots introducing the game’s “Base Menu.”
In the Base Menu, which you’ll see in-between stages, you can choose to play the next episode, visit the store, modify the game’s options, save, load, or return to the title screen.
At the shop, which is run by Aoi Uno, a heroine from the previous game, you can spend the Angel Feathers you collect to purchase various items.

Also via the Base, you’ll be able to access to the school social network service “Sakura Talk,” which will let you see requests and chatter from its female students. Requests can be accomplished by taking specific action during the game’s shooting parts and include things like, “I want you to check out this girl” and “I lost something.” Clearing requests awards users Angel Feathers.

It’s not meant to tell old PS4 members to buy another PS4; it’s meant to sway NEW people who do not yet have a system. If you’re looking to get a PS4 for the FIRST time, would you rather buy an old model with a small HDD and have to purchase a separately, larger HDD (adding on money and effort in swapping HDDs out), or would you rather get the new PS4 model that has a larger HDD built in? It’s offering people the convenience of choice. There's nothing wrong about that, AT ALL.

Not really, at least not in that image he posted. The image directly talked about backing up your old HDD from the first PS4 if you've run out of space and restoring to the bigger one on the new PS4. New owners dont have an existing PS4 HDD to backup

I'll say this again .... We live in a world where Apple releases the Iphone 5, and a year later they release the iPhone 6 with the marketing that you need this phone and it's so much better so get rid of your old one and buy this new one. And you know what, people actually do that, so much to the point that they will sit outside for hours or even days to be the first to get the new phone, which in most cases, has been exactly the same with just one new feature.

So to say that Sony is stupid or foolish for doing this, I have to disagree. Yes, it is pointless to do so as a consumer since you can just do that, but what about the average consumer that doesn't know this is even an option, let alone how to do it if they did. That's who this is targeting and that's who they will get.

But there is a real, tangible technological upgrade with every phone. This is more like going from a 4 to a 4S.

I'm not saying sony is foolish for doing this, I'm saying it is questionable - like you said, they're preying on the hopes that those who own a Ps4 already don't know about the feature. Why should that be considered a good business practice for them?

Actually less so. Its literally going from a 16gb iPhone to a 32gb iPhone. No model upgrade at all

Seriously. **** these updates. Every game I buy has minimum 4.5GB of updates which takes hours to download with my **** Wi-Fi. Aaarrgghhh :cmad:

I was hoping that would stop, but it's now universal. All games come broken and get patched on release.
