I missed most the ps3 generation and could care less about playing anything from it. Give me that new ish please

It's something I really wanted, but it's just not going to happen.

The PS3 and PS4 are too different in architecture. And now, even if it were possible, Sony wouldn't do it because of PS Now. Not to mention the rereleases / collections.

The best we can hope for is some PS1 and PS2 games.

Though I am enjoying Microsoft rubbing backwards compatibility into Sony's face.

Accept it guys, and take solace in the fact that Microsoft is trolling Sony over it.

there are still a few games from the prior generation that I'd like to play.

but, I agree, I'm more looking forward to new games.

The game I really wish they would port over is Red Dead Redemption.

But Red Dead 3 should be popping up one of these years.

I would like a Bioshock Infinite Remaster or a Bioshock Collection Remaster.

I'd love a Skyrim Remaster, but then with Fallout 4 coming out this year and Mass Effect next year, I can just wait for a proper new gen Elder Scrolls game ( not counting ESO ).

I imagine you'll get a new Elder Scrolls announced next year, but probably not released until 2017. But I could certainly see Skyrim getting an update circa 2016.

All I will say that I am an avid Playstation fan and will continue to support them, but the addition of backwards compatibility to Xbox One has guaranteed I will be buying one in the coming months base one the fact alone.

I wasn't even thinking about getting an Xbox One for a few years until that announcement.

yeah, with ESO and Fallout 4, Bethesda probably didn't want to detract from those games with a Skyrim remaster or ES 6 announcement.

but, a Skyrim remaster released next year to coincide with a new ES announcement would be great.

however, if the games I want don't get remastered, and if it looks like the PS4 will never get BC, if I really want to play those last gen games, I can just buy a PS3 new or used, at a much cheaper price than buying an X1 to play those games.

Fallout 4 just got announced. They arent announcing the next ES game next year and it definitely wont come in 2017. Are you forgetting how big and ambitious those games are? Bethesda probably wont start active development on it till next year, after F4 has dropped.

and that's the reaction that MS is counting on.

If I didn't already own a PS4, I'd probably be in the same boat as you.

Why does anyone care about backwards compatibility. Usually the old games look bad on the new systems in comparison, plus you should always keep your old system anyways; considering you usually can't get much for them...

New system, new games, better graphics, and such.

It is so funny, everything MS said the XBONE was't going to do, in less than 2 years has retracted on. I'd rather a company stand y their decisions, than backdown to every fanboy whine; ala Connect is necessary/never cheaper than $450/no backwards compatibility/et cetera.

Fallout 4 is practically done. It comes out in November. They're probably building the next Elder Scrolls on the foundation they made for Fallout 4.

They crapped out that online game. I don't see it that unlikely.

A teaser in 2016, and what we had now for Fallout 4 in 2017. Maybe a little quick, but hardly impossible.

I don't know about that. Best Buy is (or was, at least a few days ago) giving your 175 dollars credit towards an Xbone for trading in a working PS3 / 360 with 250 HDD or higher.

Quite frankly there are no PS4 games I would like to play as much as my PS2 games (though that is going to change).

Its not practically done. Sure most of the work is complete, but they will be polishing and testing it up till release, especially bc their games are always glitchy with problems. Once this drops in November, they will likely stay focus on it to patch up stuff that arises once it hits the market and then take time off for the holidays. ES is likely in pre-production with storyboards and such, but I dont see actual development on it happening till next year. Theres alot of ground to cover in 2 years and games are taking much longer to develop this gen than last

Besides look at what they did with F4. They did not formally announce it till they were ready to release it. If they continue with this, we arent seeing anything in 2006. They will still be promoting F4 as that will be getting DLC

I don't even own PS1 or PS2 games anymore. I haven't since maybe 2005. The only original Xbox games I own are Star Wars KOTOR 1&2 and they look awful on a 50" 1080p tv. And I sold all my 360 games back in 2006.

I kept my PS3 so I don't really need BC on my PS4.

Oh and Sony finally added a media player to the PS4. Bout damn time.

If every customer was like you the companies would be able to bend everyone over a table and sell us whatever **** they felt like coming up with at the time.

Customer feedback is a key component of manufacturing and the free market and capitalism. Supply and demand. If a manufacturer isn't supplying what buyer's are "demanding" then the manufacturer isn't going to make much money. The customers will buy from whoever is supplying them with what they want.

when he says "I won't say never" that's basically leaving the door open right there.

Sony may publicly say they have no plans for BC, but you can bet behind the scenes they are looking at ways to make it happen.

if it proves to be successful with MS and leads to a boost in sales for the X1, and if PS4 owners stay vocal and keep at them, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony makes it happen to the PS4.

that being said, I'd rather they devote their resources to improving/redesigning the current UI just like the X1 UI will be getting a makeover.
yeah. just like when the Ps3 slim first came out in 2009, mS said they had no plans for a slim/redesigned 360.

but like t crack said, it probably won't be Ps3 emulation but Ps1/2. and I dunno how many people still care about playing those games
It was a jab at Sony when they said "you won't have to pay for games you already own again".
...but mS themselves came out with the halo collection and they're going to release GoW UE...

I mean, sony may be doing way more remasters than them but they're guilty of this stuff too.

Boy, you sure ended this epic fail of a post perfectly, I have to say.

yeah, with ESO and Fallout 4, Bethesda probably didn't want to detract from those games with a Skyrim remaster or ES 6 announcement.

Or they're just not planning one. Since Bethesda hasn't announced any kind of remasters at all, I'm thinking they may just skip the trend and focus on other things, like EA explicitly said they would be doing.

I do. I playthrough MGS1 every so often (and always before a new release), so Id welcome it. SOTN also happens to be my favorite game and I go through that every couple of years as well

so do I (digimon world 2, tekken 3 & spyro games), but we're not representations of the vast majority. I would love it, but it wouldn't have the same impact as what mS is doing. not unless they announce BC with Ps3 games.
