Last generation lasted 7 years. In 2007, we got gears of war, bioshock, mass effect, halo, and uncharted. In 2008, we got metal gear solid 4, gta 4, and littlebigplanet. In 2009, we got prototype, killzone 2, and uncharted 2. In 2010, we got halo reach, mass effect 2, god of war 3, and gran turismo 5. In 2011, we got skyrim, uncharted 3, gears of war 2 (I think). In 2012, we got mass effect 3, halo 4. In 2013, we got bioshock infinite, tlou, and gta5.I really hope it happens. These current consoles can do with a boost. Tech moves too fast nowadays for things to only be upgraded every 8 years.
It still seems odd to cheer this. It's like people who buy iPhone everytime a new one comes out.. Even tho it's the same ****** phone with a slightly faster camera.
From what I read.. I'm less worried.. As it does seem to ONLY give the option to play in 4K.. But if they ever NN3DS it.. And certain games won't be able to run on my old "******" ps4.. I'm going to be irate.
It's been two years and we've had many great games already. I for one will be perfectly fine with them supporting this hardware for another 5 years, tbh. I liked that last generation was long. This time the tech is nowhere near what it was last time (for the respective times the machines came out). The new consoles were behind middle of the range pcs at launch. Imagine where they'll be at the end of a 7/8 year generation! Even the last console generation started looking old in 2011 for anyone who played Battlefield 3 on a 360/PS3 and then a pc. Anyway it's not like this is going to launch tomorrow.
And you should be. I sure as hell am not happy about thisIt still seems odd to cheer this. It's like people who buy iPhone everytime a new one comes out.. Even tho it's the same ****** phone with a slightly faster camera.

if this is indeed a real thing, I'm curious to see if the added benefits would only apply if you own a 4K capable tv.
if that's the case, then it wouldn't really affect me.
What does 4k support for gaming mean if resolution remains at 1080p? Does it have benefits in other ways?
