The Official PSN Store Update Thread

I played that game a little while back, because a musician I follow worked on the soundtrack (haha) never played a Splinter Cell before.

It was very different from the kind of stealth game I'd gotten used to with Metal Gear, which I expected, but it was fun from what I played! A lot of things going on besides the main campaign, which is great but can be overwhelming.

Does anyone here use PS Vue? and if so thoughts?

I have it, love it. Dropped my tv service snd I save about 150 a month now.

Playstation Plus has been a giant waste of money for me so I doubt I will be renewing. The games they offer are uninteresting and I dont play online.

Yup.

I got a free year when I bought my PS4. When I saw it was running out, I didn't give a damn. There wasn't anything worth downloading when it came to free games the whole time I had it. Only useful thing was the decent sale prices. But even that wasn't enough to get me to renew.

In the long run I don't care.. I paid for Live for years.. So it's whatever. I do agree that their free games need to improve.

September 2016 Plus titles:
Lords of the Fallen, PS4
Journey, PS4, PS3
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, PS3
Datura, PS3
Badland, PS Vita, PS4, PS3
Amnesia: Memories, PS Vita

PlayStation Plus Games for November

  • Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, PS4
  • The Deadly Tower of Monsters, PS4
  • Dirt 3, PS3
  • Costume Quest 2, PS3
  • Letter Quest Remastered, PS Vita (Cross buy with PS4)
  • Pumped BMX+, PS Vita (Cross buy with PS4 and PS3)

Quick question, I plan on buying a PS4 in a few weeks. For Example, If I buy Virtua Fighter 2 and DL on my PS3, will I be able to redownload free of charge on my PS4?

VF2 isn't on PS4

So the PS3 and PS4 stores are separate. If I buy something on my PS3, I won't be able to transfer it over?

Yes they are two different consoles with their own game libraries. The PS4 is NOT backwards compatible with the PS3. Sony introduced crossbuy late in the PS3's life cycle when the Vita launched in 2012 where some games you purchase grant you access to the other console's version, but the game must be on both consoles. Example, Journey is crossbuy between PS4 and PS3 but Trine 2 is not

Some PSN games released since the PS4 came out in 2013 are crossbuy but very few prior to 2013 are. Even then its not guaranteed. You may want to do a search on PSN or Google to verify individual titles. I know for a fact that VF2 isnt on PS4 so you are out of luck there

Thanks for the info. I plan on keeping my PS3 so it isn't a big deal, But I wanted to see what was possible.

Push Square - Report: How PlayStation Is Failing Indie Developers

Kotaku - PlayStation Is Hard To Work With, Devs Say

“Oh yeah, so there’s Nintendo who supports you,” one such response begins. “[Then] Microsoft who supports you and [then] there is Sony who supports its own AAA machine and gives a **** about everyone else.”
As Bloomberg reported in April, Sony shows extraordinary caution even with the games it makes itself, with an obsessive focus on blockbuster success. According to that article, the Japanese corporation is moving away from developing smaller in-house games, so fixated are they on only the largest games. It seems this lack of interest in smaller titles extends to third-party developers attempting to sell their games on the system.

“Sony does not understand what indie means,” an independent publisher tells me under the condition of anonymity, via Twitter DMs. “Not at all. For them indie is something in the lower million budgets.”

I'm not surprised. I would be surprised if indie games are more featured in psn pages more than games from the big publisher games. And of course big publishers have the money to pay Sony to promote/feature their games frequently in the online store.

It fits with PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan saying he does not like the look of old games ("Why would anybody play this?"). This is also reflected in the indifference and hostility of current Sony towards lower-budget indie games.

I think he/Sony management would budge as long as the game is popular or if the developer or publisher is willing to pay for a feature spot. Among Us appeared in a State of Play livestream. Isn't that an indie game?

Imo, this is mostly about the money. You want your game featured, pay 25k to Sony. Or else your game would be buried by blockbuster games that are from the big publishers.

While the approval for a psn sale is another issue but it obviously has do with power and pecking order. If the game is more popular and drives more sales or published by a big company - that game is likely to get approved faster.

If Sony treats them like a 3rd class citizen they are probably better off selling/putting their game to another platform like Steam.
