If there are certain films you love, films you think people need to check out ASAP, post them here. Feel free to elaborate on why you think said movies are a must-see. Just be mindful that spoiler details (depending on what they are) can ruin a viewing experience for others. With that stated, have fun!

I'll start, and we'll see how this goes:

The Prestige

Why? It's a brilliant masterpiece of a film with just the right balance of emotional resonance and compelling imagery to hit you in the feels! See it! You will not regret doing so!

The Dark Knight Trilogy.

I win the thread.

Outside of heroes: I really like Eastwood's Unforgiven. Great western, different than what I expected.

:o Alone in the Dark.

Oh, seriously? Um....Awesome movies? Ah gee, The Untouchables. It's a French movie, it's on Netflix. It's being remade over here now.

Man of Steel!

Even if the story does nothing for you, there's great action and attractive actors in it.

Also, Drive. Best acting I've seen yet from Ryan Gosling.

ETM, it's all about dat movie starring Sean Connery! :cwink:

Good thread notion.

I really enjoyed Mud, recently. Quite a haunting film, with a slightly off-beat ending.

What's Drive about? Don't think I've heard of it.

I recommend the first 4 Connery Bond flicks, along with GoldenEye, Casino Royale, and Skyfall.

Empire of the Sun, another great Spielberg piece featuring the very first appearance of a young Christian Bale

Oh man. See it now!

It's about a stunt driver (who also does get-away driving for criminals too), who gets involved with some organized crime (it's related to a woman he likes). The main attraction is Gosling's performance. It's mesmerizing. His character seems both tightly wound and eerily calm sometimes.

Sounds interesting. I'll have to check it out.

I enjoyed Unthinkable (2010) and New World (2013, Korean)

What about animated features? Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, Heavy Metal, and Transformers: The Movie

For animated stuff: Up.

Most moving animated movie I can think of besides the Lion King, lol.

The Company Of Wolves
~A real head-tripping experience of a pseudo-horror movie. An excellent combination of filmmaking as a pure visual art, and a strong script that does not have a single false word in it.

Try watching The Plague Dogs. Definitely the saddest animated movie ever made, possibly the saddest movie you will ever see in the English language.
