Why are y'all milking this franchise?

It still will be jigsaw in essence, though someone else will be taking over that role. I hope it will make sence, and not detract from the story or the 'Lore' of what jigs was.i hope the new saw villian is as interesting as jigsaw , it would be cool if they could find a worthy sucessor.
You bring up some good ideas, and as crazy as the saw films are these scenerios are possible. We don't know what Jeff did for a living,he could be a mechanical engineer as well(though amanda ddint seem to have the brains to build anything).^ Nah. I don't think Gordon or Tapp will be in this movie and will probably won't be in future installments. I think the new Jigsaw could be Forensic Hoffman, Jill (Jigsaw's ex-wife), or possibly Jeff from the third one.
I think Hoffman is the most likely one to become the new Jigsaw. But I could be wrong, but if you remember in the first Saw, Jigsaw was the biggest surprise, at the ending he got up and just walked away. But he was with the two people the whole movie, Gordon and Adam, so maybe Hoffman is just posing as a good guy in front of the two new detectives, until teh end when everything is said and done. Plus, you guys see in Saw III, when he takes the evidence from the Troy trap? What was that about.
I think Jeff could be the second most likely character to take Jigsaw's place, because he went a bit loony and do you guys remember when Jigsaw poured that wax over the tape near his bed during the end of Saw III? Maybe that was a tape telling Jeff where is daughter would be if he took his place. Or that tape could be a clue to lead to the next tape, to the next tape, making sure Jeff does as Jigsaw instructs.
I kinda doubt that Jigsaw's wife will be the new Jigsaw. But it could be, I wouldn't like it.
Those are my top three characters that would take the new post as Jigsaw. Just speculation.
We can assume that hes dead or alive. I'm not sure why they haven't said or did anything with that. Lot of people are anxious to know what happened to him,and I hope they do something. Though I will assume maybe they saving that for when the franchise slows down and they need a boost.^ Dr. Gordon is currently unknown. We don't know if he is alive or dead. But if I had to guess, I would say he has died.

I like how they keep tying everything together in hindsight and trying to make it seem like it was a plan all along. I already "SAW" this 3 times. LOL
No you didn't, since each film is quite a bit different in style; and they don't pretend it was planned all along, they've admitted that it wasn't.
Anyways...
SAW IV is good, but it's the weakest of the series.
It's a very good prequel, but the main story introduces no new particularly interesting characters, and has some very poor wrap ups for some of the interesting ones from the previous films.
The thematic depth is also lacking and it really falls apart at the end.
The traps were great and on a visceral level it rivals SAW III, and probably surpasses it and it gave some interesting backstory on John the man and his sharp contrast to the Jigsaw killer.
I liked it, but I wasn't blown away like I have been the previous 3 years.

Well, I just returned from an employee preview we had. I'll give a review of this film.
Was it horrible? No. Was it the worst film in the world? No. But they definitely should've stopped after three. Nothing is really expanded on in this fourth film and it just seems very confused, jumps all over the place, and really adds nothing to the unique aspect that is Saw.
There is no revelation of what happened to Dr. Gordon.
Eric Matthews is killed off in this one. His death scene is pretty cool and creative.
Ready for the big spoiler?
the new Jigsaw is Forensic Hoffman.
Jeff is shot and killed by FBI Agent Strahm. His death is disappointing because it looks as though he never attempted to find his daughter and stayed in the room.
Lame. They keep killing off the most interesting characters that have the most fascinating places to go. That was one of the big mistakes with Saw III in my mind - they offed characters who had SO MUCH development potential, or took characters in new directions I disagreed with intensely. Sounds like this one continues the trend, along with carrying the franchise forward after its logical point of death. And introducing another new apprentice when you already had one before now is just like saying "Woops, we screwed up." I'll pass.
