Spiral: From The Book Of Saw

Yeah. The first trailer didn’t do much for me but this one definitely has me intrigued.

It looks good, but Chris Rock's dramatic yelling does him no favors lol
It's always been his weakness in dramatic roles. He's ineffective when restrained and ineffective when raising his voice. In between those tenor's he's decent but how many roles don't require that range?

I'm still not sure what to make of Spiral, but it's a Saw film, so I'm gonna see it in theaters regardless, as I've done since Saw III. I'm all for a different take with the Saw franchise, more so since neither Saw 7 nor Jigsaw felt like fitting conclusions, in my opinion, so we'll see.

As for Rock when he tries to be dramatic, I didn't mind it in Fargo, so I'm curious how he'll fare here.

Looking really good. I love the SAW franchise. Specifically 1-4 and Jigsaw. Really looking forward to this.

I thought Chris Rock mostly pulled off the more serious and dramatic role he had in Fargo Season 4, but it's still hard to take him seriously anytime he's yelling.

This looks pretty damn good though.

Well, there's the Saw elements.

Sam Jackson is totally the new Jigsaw

Looks pretty good. Already a major upgrade from the Hoffman saga.

Hope not. That would be too obvious.

Was only a fan of the first three Saw movies, after that, they felt like forgettable straight-to-dvd entries. This looks entertaining, and seems to return to some of the traditional elements from the original.

Just curious. What do people enjoy about these movies? Is is the Rube Goldberg type deaths? The gore? The story?

The first one had a good twist but the later ones just seemed to lose more into the gore element at the sake of actual story.

I expect Sam Jackson's character to get a messy random Deep Blue Sea type death.

It would be great if his death actually involved sharks. I could see the new jigsaw trapping someone in a shark tank, lol.

Only if the sharks have frikkin laser beams attached to their frikkin heads!

I dont like the original films or torture porn in general. I wouldnt be interested in this one if not for the cast and it supposedly being a new direction.

Just like with a lot of horror series that got run down, they just go see them for the deaths and gore.

The original stands out from the rest, but for me, the series became pretty much fan fiction by the 4th film.

I've never watched any of the Saw movies but this looks decent.

Never really able to get into the Saw franchise, the whole "blood and guts/torture porn" genre never worked for me. But this looks like a good blend of the traditional characteristics of the series and a more subdued, thriller approach. Rock's yelling doesn't bother me, personally. Not everyone sounds *oh, so serious* when they get riled up.

I definitely feel like they should have just held this to October but that's got Halloween Kills, Last Night in Soho and Antlers already there as big ticket horror draws. I'd rather they move Candyman back, if any of the summer horror flicks were to get delayed.
