probably the same way anybody without a Soulsword fights people.

Does she use her magic offensively? Without the practical use of the Soulsword I can't see her standing up against foes like the army of Sinisters in UXM #1-3 without some kind of advantage.

Soulsword is only one of her abilities. Her actual mutant power is to create teleport discs which she can use to send her opponent through time and space. Theoretically she can port Widow into a volcano, underneath the sea, Limbo or 100 years into the future. She has a clear advantage with almost every foe she goes up against. Its not really fair. Oh and yes she can use her magic offensively, but most writers since her return, dont seem to utilize her magic at all. And another thing, she used her Soulsword against Collossus in X-Infernus, so it can be used against non-magic beings

In the early Kirby/ Stan Lee X-Men comics the members were pretty much a**-h***s, when did they become more likeable? Was it before Giant-Sized X-Men?

what members? The X-men? They never came across like that to me

the original team were all best friends, they never came across negatively (dated for sure). Now when the Giant Size team came around they didn't get along with Wolverine and Sunfire and that caused some friction.

They were allways fighting each other, each one of them seemed ready to rape Jean, they would grab her and make her go with them, Iceman was allways making Beast's life a living hell, they were constantly insulting each other, geez, in Fantastic Four Human-Torch and the thing fought constantly but in the end of the day they all acted like a family, in the early x-men comics it's rare to see them geting along, even Prof.X can be scary

Thats like a twisted view of the dynamics of the team. Im not sure where you got that from, bc Javi's assessment is mroe accurate. They all found Jean attractive in the first issue but the only ones to develop actual feelings for her which they pursued were Warren and Scott, and Scott kept that to himself for a long time. Bobby was a prankster and played lots of jokes and pranks on the team. None of that was malicious or bc he didnt get along with them. He and Beast as the youngest and oldest were surprisingly the closest pair out of the group. They double dated Vera and Zelda and when the team split up, they decided to stick together. The original 5 got along and acted like a family. Now when Havok joined, things changed the dynamic as he and Bobby couldnt stand each other, but the O5 were friends and had each other's backs. They were not always fighting

Silver Age writing could be heavy handed at times, which is why a lot of stories can be a chore to read; what the writers back then saw as playful, witty banter often looks dysfunctional or off now.

That's why we have so much classic super-dickery.

How is Avengers Children's Crusade? Would a hardcore X-Men fan with little exposure to the Young Avengers such as myself enjoy it?

Cyke is a dick, mags is fairly decent, you feel sorry for wanda. The rest is all Young Avengers and Doom.

A lot of people acted highly out of character and some were a pun of themselves *cough* Wolverine *cough*.

Wolverine's comic - "Oh no! I've gone too far by killing an army of my own children! What have I become?!"

X-Men comics - "Look, Slim. I might go around killing people all willy-nilly, but I don't want these kids involved in the dirty stuff."

Children's Crusade - "ARRGGHHH!!! KILL THE CHILDREN! KILL THEM ALL! KILL THEIR MOM!!"

^^^This.

Probably Protector. Although other solicitations/covers seem to indicate that Protector betrays everyone. Maybe he'll be the second crazy Captain Marvel.

What the hell. If Barry Allen is back, I suppose it's time for the real one to come back. That's always good news for Thanos fans.

:doom: :doom: :doom:

I wish his Marvel Boy persona would come back...now that was a character.

Although i never understood how when he came out he was clearly not 616, then Bendis just pretended he was.

I'd predict the new Captain Marvel was Genis..except that seems so unlike the current Quesada cronie editorial staff to bring him back

Ben Urich left the Bugle and started his own paper, right? The Frontline? Is that still around?

Last I saw.

And it's an online news site.

It became the new Daily Bugle. When the Bugle was bought by Dexter Bennett, he turned it into The DB and it became more of a sleazy tabloid. That's when Urich and a few others left and started the Frontline. During a fight between Electro and Spidey, The DB building was destroyed and Bennett's legs were crushed by debris.

Mayor JJJ was able to cash in on some share's due to this and gave the money to Urich and Robbie Robertson on the condition they restart the Daily Bugle again. Unfortunately Pete doesn't work there because he's a disgraced photographer (if such a thing actually exists:o).
