The Official Stupid Question Thread: Marvel Edition - Part 6

Pretty sure he's just a normal person in his non-steel form. So he'd be as strong as a normal dude who's in exceptionally good shape.

Isn't the move where he throws Wolverine a tactic they've used more than once in the comics? (ie. beginning of Xmen-III movie) That takes a lot of strength, maybe Captain America or Luke Cage level.

I think he grows like a foot when he armors up too. I always found that kind of weird. His skin's turning into metal; why would he gain height from that?

its not weird that his skin changes but its weird that he gains height? The growth is part of his mutation. It doesnt need an explanation beyond that

Not so much stronger as way, way more powerful. Basically, Rune Thor is like putting Thor and Odin together. He is, I believe, the most powerful version of Thor ever (at least as far as I can recall), and he could pretty much mop the floor with just about anyone shy of cosmic powerhouses. Even then, regular Thor has managed to eke out an occasional win against Galactus and Ego.

Thank you sir.

Who would win in a battle? Adult Franklin Storm or Mad Jim Jaspers?
Would those two be considered the strongest mutants in the 616?
Just how powerful is Apocalypse if there is a Celestial tasked solely to watch over him?

I guess both are weird, if you want to get technical. I'm not complaining or anything; I just thought growing taller for no apparent reason was kind of a weird bonus power when I read it on one of Colossus' trading cards as a kid.

Are there any mutants or X-men with the same mutation(powers?) I know Jean Grey and Professor X both have telepathic powers, but I mean if their powers are exactly the same like Azazel and Nightcrawler from the movies.

Azazel is nightcrawler's father which is why they have same powers.

tons. Telepathy is a pretty common power. Jean, Xavier, Emma Frost, Psylocke, X-man, Cable, Rachel Grey, Kid Omega, Legion, Exodus, M, Chamber, Cassandra Nova, Karma, and Dani Moonstar,. There are tons of characters that have super strength, flight, telekinesis, energy manipulation, mimicry etc... I would say most powers are shared among mutants as opposed to any one character truly being unique with their ability. That is more rare and the question to ask

So Azazel and Mystique are Nightcrawler's parents?

Havok83, I meant mutants that have only the same powers to the same degree ie. someone else who has Iceman's exact power to the same degree but no additional powers....like a clone.

Okay, but alot of powers are still very common

Telepathy/telekinesis - Jean, Rachel, Cable, Kid Omega, Psylocke
Telepathy - Xavier, Emma (until her secondary mutation)
Plasma blasts/flight - Sunfire, Sunpyre, Thunderbird (Neal)
Magnetic manipulation - Magneto, Polaris
Shapeshifting - Morph, Mystique
Mimicry - Hope Summers, Mimic, Synch
Sonic screams - Banshee, Siryn
Claws, healing factor - Wolverine, Daken
Shockwave generation - Avalanche, Rictor, Crosta
Telekinesis - Hellion, Shola
Superspeed - Quicksilver, Speed
Superstrength and senses - Thunderbird, Warpath
Kinetic energy to stength - Sebastian Shaw, Strong Guy
Feline appearance, claws, enhanced senses & agility - Feral/Thornn

Wow...you guys forgot the easiest, most obvious comparison

Wolverine & Sabretooth
Both mutants have healing factors, enhanced senses, the whole animal impulses, and both were given Adamantium skeletons. You could group Wild Child, X-23 and Romulus here. But there is literally zero differences in how Wolverine & Sabretooth's mutations function.

Yes there is as they dont have the same powerset. Sabretooth and Wildchild dont have Wolverine's claws, bones dont extend out their hands like him and adamantium skeleton isnt a mutant power. X-23 counts but I didnt mention her or clones for obvious reasons. Romulus is questionable as he may or may not be a mutant.

Due to a retcon all X-Mn purists hate, yes. Originally Nightcrawler was the son of Mystique and some European Earl or Duke or something.
From what I understand, the original plan was Mystique had Nightcrawler with Destiny. Because her shapeshifting goes that far.

Yeah, I think Claremont wanted Mystique to be Nightcrawler's father.

Claremont has a lot of ideas that, in 15 years, he never actually put on the page (Sabretooth being Wolverine's father, the Phoenix Force, not Scott, being Rachel's father). This idea, at least, is one that had no chance of getting past editorial or the CCA when he wrote, so it's understandable why it never happened.

That would've been cool, though. Mystique could've joined Loki in the very exclusive Gender-Bending Parents Club. :D

What is with this weird fixation that Marvel suddenly has with Hulks being naked in public? TA Hulk ends up on a beach with a woman and her child staring at his junk, then Zombie Bruce gets his clothes burned off so he can go on a nude rampage.

:barf:

Is there a 'Desert of Despair' in the comics?
I saw it in Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends episode Vengeance of Loki, and a certain moment in the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon finale reminded me of that scene of Thor escaping the Desert of Despair.

Probably. There have been a bunch of one-off locations in Asgard. Writers over the years seem to like naming random parts of Asgard with colorful names.

A friend asked a question today that I think is interesting. X-23 is a young woman not yet fully grown when we first meet her both in animation and comics. So my question is what is the effect of the Adamantium bonding given that she hasn't fully grown yet? Logan was a full grown adult when the process was enacted on him. Has this been brought up? Will the bonding allow for her skeleton to fully develop?

Far as I know, only her claws on both her hands and feet are metal. The rest was left alone so she could grow and I imagine that they'd eventually have done the same to her as Wolverine.

After all, imagine you had your super assassin that could regenerate from anything and almost never die but she had severe brain damage from her skull being unable to accommodate her growing brain. :p

I think in the comics they surgically removed her claws, coated them then implanted them back into her.

Thanks Kev. So they did think about this issue or it was brought to their attention and they came up with a work around. As I stated, not a fan or knowledgeable about the character. I always assumed she had a full Adamantium bonded skeleton.
