The Official Stupid Question Thread: Marvel Edition - Part 6

And if they do own Alpha Flight, they can't do an film adaptation that connects to Wolverine, which is weird. But it's the same kind of weird as not connecting the Maximoff twins to Magneto, so we're used to it by now.

I dont think its weird. They were introduced through Wolverine but long since evolved into its own thing decades ago. They arent inherently tied to him the way that he is to them

That's tiresome. Its just really cheap to do these fast-forward 8 months later bs and then sit on these revelations for years IRL only to have the revelations be something so lackluster anyway (see also BND's how Harry Osborn is alive again).

Who is in Alpha Flight? Did they resurrect the team that was killed a decade ago?

IIRC, and lord knows it's probably changed six times since then, they were resurrected during the Chaos War event, that included titles like Chaos War: X-Men (Banshee, Thunderbolt, and some dead Madroxes and Cuckoos) and Chaos War: Avengers (Vision, Swordsman, Yellowjacket 2, Deathcry, Dr. Druid, Captain Mar-Vell) in a 'Chaos War: Alpha Flight' mini.

Tangentially, the Chaos War: Avengers story was *amazing.*

Of the current Alpha Flight, led by Carol Danvers, the only person I've seen from the original Flight is Puck, who sits in their satellite HQ being a sort of mission control sort of dude.

Sasquatch is there, I found a scan from Captain Marvel with Sasquatch.

What happened to Dr. Donald Blake?
I know he was gone in the Walt Simmonson's run, then back for a while, I saw him transform to Thor in issue 600.
After Original Sin I saw nothing from him again.

Just picked up an issue of Captain Marvel's book, and not only are Puck and Sasquatch members, but so is Aurora.

The characterization is odd, 'though. Sasquatch is never shown out of monster form and is acting kind of like a dumb bruiser, so he might not be super-genius scientist / football superstar (wtf?) Walter Langkowski.

I'm not up to date on post John Byrne Alpha Flight. What happened after Sasquatch lost his body?

Thor died at the end of Fear Itself, but Blake stuck around. Ulik had used a spell to make everyone forget about Thor and remember his alter-ego, Tanarus, as the greatest hero of Asgard instead. That spell was broken, everyone's memories returned, Thor came back, but he and Blake were still separate. The Enchantress manipulated Blake, who was jealous because he felt like being separated from Thor made him lose everything that made him special. The Enchantress promised that Blake would be a god again, then magically popped his head off and made him the central part of this f***ed up new Executioner thing. Thor beat the new Executioner, found Blake's head, and left it in a dream realm to dream of the godly life he so desperately wanted.

tl;dr: Matt Fraction killed Blake off while demonstrating for all the world that he never understood the first goddamn thing about the complicated and intriguing relationship between Thor and Blake in the first place. One of the many, many reasons why his Thor run is one of the absolute worst of all time.

What is the deal with Vision? I saw that he has a wife and kid...huh? Anyone care to explain? Last I knew he was married to Scarlet Witch. How were they handled following her return and his resurrection? Has he met either of his 2 kids with her and does he have a relationship with them?

Also what happened to the kid Vision that replaced him in Young Avengers? Speaking of which, where are the YA?

This one I can answer. "Kid Vision" which eventually went by Jonas died during Children's Crusade, killed by Iron Lad back from the future. Stature also died.

The Young Avengers were re-imagined after that. I don't know what became of Patriot, but Wiccan, Hulkling, and Hawkeye were eventually joined by Ms. America Chavez, Noh-Varr (Marvel Boy), and Kid Loki. Shortly after they formed Speed rejoined them as well as Prodigy from the New X-Men.

Last I saw Kid Loki left to do Loki things, but the rest were still together. Though Wiccan and Hulking are now a part of the recent New Avengers book and Hawkeye is a regular alongside the original Hawkeye in his book. So I guess they disbanded "off panel". Also, Stature has come back to life somewhere... Ant-Man's book I think.

Long story short... the Young Avengers reached that point where they broke up and went on to do other things in a bunch of books.

Doctor doom brought stature back to life when he was inverted

Cassie's mom moved them to Miami and Scott Lang followed them there.

Vision created himself a family of androids like himself. They moved to suburban Washington dc and try to live a normal life.

Has it been a series of frustrations for you as a Thor fan? It seems a lot of the Thor talk in here is about recent comic book happenings and...you don't seem happy about any of it.

Hi true believers?

As someone who only reads X-Men / Inhumans comic-books, how are the Avengers comic-books? Like for me, like in the Marvel 616, I just feel like almost everyone has been an Avenger at some point, and I feel like its like a typical superhero team. Like how is it compare to X-Men/Inhumans and is a-Force worth it? I'm tempted to read it because it has Dazzler and Medusa.

Are you referring only to comics released now or also recently completed runs?

A version of him is in Contest of Champions, which is supposed to be in-continuity. I haven't seen him anywhere else, though, and it may not even be the 616 version in that series, since it pulls characters from across the omniverse. I'm sure Ares will be back sooner or later, though. Gods are even less likely to stay dead than normal comic characters.

Not really. That stuff with Blake was pretty frustrating, as was the rest of Matt Fraction's unbelievably horrible run. The only redeeming part of it was his arc where Asgard fights Galactus and the Silver Surfer, and that's mostly due to a few spectacular headbutts, captured in the gorgeously choreographed fight scenes by Olivier Coipel.

More recently, I've been quite happy with the Thor comics. Jason Aaron's run has been great, Jane's been interesting enough to sustain my interest, and the original Thor is poised to return soon, so I'm good. The only complaint I could really muster is that it's a f***ing travesty that the original Thor is going to be forced to wield the ugly, s***ty Ultimate Mjolnir soon--which shouldn't even have the inscription shown in the solicitations because it was a technological imitation of Ultimate Thor's true hammer, which looked identical to the 616 Mjolnir, nor should it have any worthiness enchantment (or any enchantments at all, being tech rather than magic).

But it's not like I'm incredibly bitter about that or anything.

Not at all.

The Vision purged himself of all emotions recently. He kept his memories but severed any and all emotional association with them. They're basically just a chronicle of his past to his mind now--or, at least, so he claims.

Despite not having emotions, he still wishes to understand the human experience. To that end, he decided to experience the trials and tribulations of having a family. He uses a copy of the Scarlet Witch's brain engrams, which she gave him as a gift long ago, to create his wife, Virginia, then merged his own brain engrams with hers to create their kids, Vin and Viv. It was a cold, dispassionate experiment to him at first, but he finds himself acting pretty much like you'd expect a loving father and husband to act. Unfortunately, Agatha Harkness claims to have seen a future result from all this where the Vision, driven by devotion to his family, who are kind of a collection of f***-ups at this point, will murder the Avengers and raze the world. If you read the Vision's series (which I highly, highly recommend to everyone), it seems more and more possible that Agatha's prediction could come true.

Most recently, Victor Mancha of the Runaways came to live with the Vision and his family, and they welcomed him as the Vision's "brother" (since both were created by Ultron) and the kids' uncle. But, unfortunately, it turns out Victor was sent to spy on the Vision and determine whether Agatha's prediction is in danger of coming true, and things quickly started to spiral even more out of control.

Has Elsie Dee and Albert been around recently? The Robo-Wolverine clone and the little girl robot that was supposed to kill him with a body made of C4 for anyone not in the know.

Also, I just got the joke of her name Elsie-Dee (LCD) despite knowing about her for years. :whatever:

Well, that's......feces.

Has there been any mention of the FF since Secret Wars ended? Like have any of the other teams questioned why they are no longer around. Have Ben or Johnny (or Doom) reflected on Sue, Reed and the children's disappearance?

Are they presumed dead? Anyone know where they are? Did they rearrange themselves out of existence?
