The Official Stupid Question Thread: Marvel Edition - Part 6

Is adamantium harder than vibranium?

Yeah. Vibranium is supposed to absorb vibrations (which helps prevent recoil or knocking you back from impact). It also can do whatever the hell you want it to do, depending on the plot.

I think someone on here said something about her living in a pocket dimension where she aged recently. At least theres an explanation bc I saw that cover and thought hte artist just drew her ugly

Yeah, I had assumed the artist just drew her poorly, but that appears to not have been the case. I hope they de-age her at some point, but, right now, I'm just glad to have an explanation so I won't blame the artist.

Hi guys!

I'm binge reading a lot of Inhumans comics lately (though I skipped the 70s series, I only read the first issue) and I am loving Inhumans like a lot! The 1998 series was really unique. The 2003 Inhumans was just amazing, I really wish they would use those characters again and Inhuman is pretty fun with these Nuhumans! Totally my new Marvel favorite after the X-Men, so Marvel freaking do that movie okay! and I only read X-Men comics before until this month so this is like life-changing for me. So before I read Uncanny Inhumans/All-New Inhumans. Is there any comic book title that I should read that is essential to Inhumans? Is Attilan Rising worth reading? And what issue of Infinity features Black Bolt blowing up the Terregin Mist? Thanks!

While I can probably look up the specific issue of Infinity where Black Bolt blew everything up, I'd probably just recommend reading the whole story if you can. It won't make much sense out of context. It's three books - the main book (Infinity), Avengers, and New Avengers.

The books you actually need to read are the Inhumanity miniseries and Inhuman. I'd probably skip Inhumanity: Awakening, but it's fine if you want to read that too. Inhuman is absolutely important, though.

I hope you read Son of M. It was a Quicksilver mini series released after House of M but also serves as an Inhuman story. It was amazing

Oh wow I looked up to Wikipedia of Inhumans, but I didn't know Nahrees and company are in that issue! :ilv: I totally loved the 2003 Inhuman series. And out of the Royal Family, Crystal... she was just not in a lot of issues I read so... this is a must read for me now!

Oh yeah I already have read Inhumanity/Inhuman. Like I said I like the NuHumans1 :woot: I'm down to issue #14 and the annual. And yeah I skipped Inhumanity: Awakening.

My favorite run of Inhumans was the War of Kings stuff. I might have read it due to the heavy X-Men ties. If not... I recommend the following read order:

If you haven't read them, I recommend reading the following in this order to get an understanding of what's come from the X-Men side of the War of Kings story. The Inhumans don't come into these, but their story and this story collide in War of Kings.

X-Men: Deadly Genesis 1-6
Uncanny X-Men 466-471
(The End of Greys)
Uncanny X-Men 475-486 (Rise and Fall of the Shi'ar Empire)
Emperor Vulcan 1-5

If you want some lead-in with the Inhumans, I recommend the following. All are good, so if you're down with really giving them a go. Give it a shot:

New Avengers: Illuminati (one-shot)
Son of M 1-6
Silent War 1-6 (there's a jarring transition from the end of this to WWH, but it's explained later)
World War Hulk 1-5

Then the two above sections mold into what follows:

New Avengers: Illuminati 1-5 (or at least 1 and 5... you can skip 2-4)
Secret Invasion: Inhumans 1-4
Secret Invasion: War of Kings
(one-shot)
X-Men: Kingbreaker 1-4 (No Inhumans here, but important toward what came before in the X-Men comics I mentioned)
War of Kings 1-6
War of Kings: Who Will Rule?
(one-shot)

There are a lot of tie-ins to the War of Kings, so if you like what you read above, you can branch out and read more of what's going on with other cosmic characters like Nova, Darkhawk, and the Guardians of the Galaxy. But focusing exclusively on the Inhumans, what's above is what's important.

And if you're wanting some follow up to all that's come before, read:

Mighty Avengers 27-31 (This wraps up some stuff from Son of M and is referenced in the Realm of Kings mini that follows this)
Realm of Kings: Inhumans 1-5 (This shows what they're doing in the aftermath of War of Kings.)

Then from there I hear they're scattered through Hickman's Fantastic Four run before Blackbolt becomes prominent in Hickman's New Avengers (the first 6 or so issues) and the Infinity event crossover. I've not read Hickman's Fantastic Four, but Infinity is absolutely stunning.

*edit: I think this is pretty much the core for of what happens to the Inhumans between the 2003 series and the modern stuff with the Terrigenis cloud.

Marvel Graphic Novel: The Inhumans is worth a read.

It tells the personal story of Medusa as she deals with bearing the child of Black Bolt and heir to the Inhuman empire, with the leaders of the Inhumans attempting to stop her from carrying through with it. This book really goes to the core of the Inhuman’s strict societal code and their attempts and failures to deal with simple human life.

It feels a little like a dry run of what will later be explored in the 1998 Jenkins Inhumans mini.

Also read Karnak if you aren't reading it already. Warren Ellis writes a bad ass Karnak.

Just to add, the follow-up to Son of M is Silent War. It's interesting, but there's an obvious third part that was cancelled and never produced because, when they come back, it's a different status quo.

I'd read anything with when the Inhumans left the moon and went to take over the Kree empire. I think it started in War of Kings. It's pretty awesome. They basically figure that the Kree made the Inhumans to be better then they are so they're going to go kick ass until the entire star empire is theirs. Then they fight the Shi'ar and Cyclops/Havok's crazy little brother/plot black hole Vulcan. After that they break the universe and basically all sorts of Lovecraft monsters show up to eat everyone/the entire universe.

tl;dr - Read War of Kings. It's badass as ****.

Thanks guys for the suggestions, I'll be reading Son of M/Silent War/Illuminati/Marvel Graphic Novel after the latest issue of AllNew/Uncanny came out and after I read Civil War II: X-Men vs Inhumans... I cannot wait for it!

I don't think I'll read War of Kings, I didn't really enjoy Uncanny's Rise/Fall of Shi'ar and I already read Kingbreaker way back in 2000s and I didn't enjoy it. For some reason, I couldn't just enjoy these space-war stories. I'm also skipping Karnak because I don't read solo titles.

And yes Infinity's artwork was indeed stunning :ilv: Like I only read the Inhumans part but the artwork was just lush!

And is Secret Wars: Battleworld Attilan Rising worth it? I read a few pages and I was completely lost.

Looks like Mewtwos girlfriend... Beyond that no idea. The eyes and symbiote suggest a "spider" connection, being red would obviously suggest someone Carnage related, but there's not enough going on for it to be Bride of carnage.

What character is this? Fairly sure it's a symbiote.

She looks rather ghostly tbh. Are there any other figures in that line?

I assume if it's a symbiote then it's Agony.

A) Has it been revealed yet what was whispered into Thor's ear to make him unworthy?

4) When Thor didn't know prior to Original Sin whatever was whispered in his ear, he was still able to hold Mjolnir. It was only after discovering whatever secret he didn't know that he was unworthy. So if Thor does something terrible and doesn't know or remember it, he can still use Mjolnir, until he's reminded of his wrong-doing, and then the hammer rejects him?

Secondly) Is he still dressing like a homeless person or is he wearing Asgardian gear again?

A) No, because Jason Aaron hates every single one of us.

4) Can't really answer this because of A.

Secondly) He's always worn Asgardian gear. He just happens to be wearing the gear of an Asgardian homeless person right now. Shirts are for wusses no matter what dimension you're from anyway.

Is there any possibility that Alpha Flight may be given a film adaptation? If so who technically has the rights - Team Marvel/Disney or Team Fox?

I think Marvel owns them since no American company wants to show how badass Canadian Superheroes are.

It wouldn't surprise me if Marvel owns them. Given how much they're dividing comics along the lines of movie rights lately, I can't see them making Alpha Flight such a big part of Captain Marvel's world if they don't have the rights.

A 4 Secondly?
Yeah, can't you count? :oldrazz:

And if they do own Alpha Flight, they can't do an film adaptation that connects to Wolverine, which is weird. But it's the same kind of weird as not connecting the Maximoff twins to Magneto, so we're used to it by now.

I'm okay with that, honestly. I like the current, space-based version of Alpha Flight more than I ever did the X-Men-related version from before.

I almost would rather give Alpha Flight to Fox if I had any confidence they'd use them.

I'd rather Marvel have them. Even without the Wolverine connection they can still have 10,000 wendigos onscreen. :D
