Because there's a lot of theories as to why Metaknight will/won't be back in Smash. This is much like the Game & Watch thing at the end of the Pac-Man reveal. There's no reason to think that he won't be in the game, yet there's no update on the site to say that there is.

Thus, until we get that answer, we have to speculate endlessly. Hence, trolling.

Ah yeah, Metaknight. I don't care about that character, probably why I didn't really process it.

Looks like Europe is getting a 3DS XL bundle, no word on other regions yet.

While it's not the best design I feel they could've done...I'd totally trade in my 3DS XL for this one.

Meta Knight Returns For Super Smash Bros.. August 13, 2014 . 2:13am

“Meta Knight’s Up Special Move, Shuttle Loop, changed quite a bit in this game,” says director Masahiro Sakurai.

God bless you, Sakurai. Just two days after the funny tease, Meta Knight has been confirmed as a returning character in Super Smash Bros. You can find screenshots of him below from both Wii U and 3DS versions.

On Miiverse, Sakurai wrote: “‘Looks like there was an impostor in the earlier posts, so I introduced him to my sword!’ …I’ll leave it up to your imagination if he really said that or not. The veteran hero, Meta Knight, returns to battle!! We didn’t forget the Battleship Halberd either!!”

In a follow-up comment, he added: “Meta Knight’s Up Special Move, Shuttle Loop, changed quite a bit in this game. The glide is gone, and the attack slashes opponents twice while spinning in a large loop. This has turned into a highly technical and effective move.”

Is he nerfed? I hear all these commenters online that complain how OP'd he and Pit were in Brawl. I hate Pit too, but only because he won't shut his mouth.

Or a new demo. :sus

Also would anyone be shocked if Snake comes back as Old Snake?

There's no new demo, just a picture reveal, I think.

I wouldn't be shocked at Snake, bu I'm not expecting. Definitely would be shocked to see Old Snake, since that's been awhile. If it happens, it'll either just be regular Solid or MGSV Big Boss/Snake.

I was being facetious about the demo claim. I fully expect some of his special attacks to be nerfed.

As for Snake, yeah I definitely don't see him coming back, but I could be wrong. With Snake, Sonic, Mega Man, and Pac-Man, we would have a more awesome round up of third-party characters.

I'll trade in my XL and buy that sum***** immediately. I dig the design. Just wish it wasn't red. Hopefully NOA gives us a cool Smash Bros bundle.

Super Smash Bros. For 3DS Has The Difficulty Slider From Kid Icarus: Uprising. August 13, 2014 . 8:27am

Nintendo have updated the official website for Super Smash Bros. with a few details about the Nintendo 3DS version of the game.
Nintendo have updated the official website for Super Smash Bros. with a few details about the Nintendo 3DS version of the game. Among these details are how the game’s different modes will function, including the “Classic” mode outlined below, which will allow you to adjust the game’s difficulty with a slider, similar to Kid Icarus: Uprising.

In Classic mode on the Nintendo 3DS, players choose different paths as they proceed along a map and fight against waiting CPU opponents.

There are many different kinds of matches, including one-on-one fights, team battles with CPU players both aiding and attacking you, matches where you must defeat opponents one after another or in groups, and even more.

When you win a match, you will receive a reward. Besides trophies and gold, you can also receive custom parts.

Before starting a game, you can use gold to adjust the intensity level. The higher the intensity, the stronger opponents will be, and the greater a player’s rewards will be when victorious.

The website also details the game’s “Stadium mode,” which you can find further down on this page. Meanwhile, details on the “Smash Run” mode can be found here.

These Are Two Of Mega Man’s Customizable Moves In Super Smash Bros.. August 14, 2014 . 12:26pm

“These are some of Mega Man’s custom special moves,” director Masahiro Sakurai wrote on Miiverse

In Super Smash Bros., you can customize the special moves of your characters while fighting the CPU or playing against friends. For example, Mario’s Fireball can either be a regular Fireball, a Fast Fireball or a Fire Orb, each with their own traits.

This potentially gives every character in the game twelve special moves to choose from, while selecting abilities to take into battle, and last night on Miiverse, director Masahiro Sakurai highlighted two of Mega Man’s customized moves.

Sakurai wrote: “Here’s Beat! And Plant Barrier!! These are some of Mega Man’s custom special moves. You might also be able to use some signature boss-like moves from the Mega Man series, too.”

This is going to be cool! You could have a four-way Mega Man match, and all of them would be different cause of the different movesets!

Holy ****, that is amazing. That customization should be fun. But god, I hope they actually have the other Mega Man as alt costumes and not just give him alt colors. The models are already there with his special.

Definitely getting this on 3DS and I might just cave in and get a Wii U as well.

I go back and forth on whether or not I'll get the 3DS version. I love the artstyle, and there's a real novelty to having Smash on a handheld. The cons is that I don't know a lot of people who seem to be as interested on Smash 3DS as Smash U (I really hate that this game didn't get a proper name), and I'm just not sure I'd play it that much on the go. I could maybe see myself doing it, but I could just as well see myself not playing it much.

Plus, October is going to be expensive. I'm definitely getting Bayonetta 2, and my Xbox One as long as everything goes as expected, and possibly Evil Within with it if I can squeeze it. All that on top of my usual expenses makes Smash 3DS a hard sell.

But I could see myself just as easily picking it up still. I have such mixed feelings about it.

Put your mind at east Tron Bonne. I'm sure we'll all do tournaments and the like, I'll happily give out my friend code once the game is out. I'm sure others will do the same. If you need more people to connect with, I know a great Smash Bros forum full of people who will be getting the 3DS version.

As for me, I'm getting both. Why? One, we don't know when the Wii U version will come out, at best it'll be a little over a month after 3DS release, at worst, January or February.

Two, Smash Run. I think that'll be highly addicting, especially when four people duke it out.

Three. Portable. I know that may not sound like much, but when you're just wanting to kill time before doing something, you pull out the 3DS play a match (or five) of Smash Bros and you're set!

Four, different stages. This also may not seem like much, but if you think about it, it actually changes the game entirely. There are only a few stages that'll be in both games, because of that, there's reasons to buy both, so you can check out all the fun stages!

Five, if the 3DS has Smash Run, you know the Wii U version will have something special as well. Sakurai will make sure we're just as entertained as our 3DS counterparts.

Six, because you know you want them both! We're Smash fans, we want all the Smash we can handle. Play the 3DS one first, have some fun, get to know the characters...jump over to the Wii U version and play with them again in HD and enhanced online options!

Will it be rough on the wallet? Yes. But will it be worth it? Absolutely!

Here’s How You Equip Power-Ups For Super Smash Bros. 3DS’ Smash Run Mode. August 15, 2014 . 9:01am

On Miiverse, director Masahiro Sakurai showed off the screen where you equip your power-ups for Smash Run.
The Nintendo 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. has a 4-player mode where you explore a labyrinth, collect power-ups and then battle it out with the other three players. Titled Smash Run, this mode allows you to select power-ups to take with you to improve your performance.

On Miiverse, director Masahiro Sakurai showed off the screen where you equip your power-ups, and once again, this looks somewhat similar in concept to Kid Icarus: Uprising, which is another of Sakurai’s games and shares a number of UI elements in common with Smash.

“Here’s the place you equip powers for Smash Run,” Sakurai wrote. “Pack a good mix of them like a lunch box, and off you go! You can change how your powers are set up by touching their icons and dragging them.”

He added, “If you hit the X Button, it will randomly fill up the remaining weight allowance with powers. You can keep changing the line-up as many times as you please. The level of a power is proportional to its strength, number of uses, and weight. Organizing them might be easier if you label your favorite powers with a ★.”

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS will be available this October in North America and Europe.

Kirby Boss Nightmare Wizard Is An Assist Trophy In Super Smash Bros. August 18, 2014 . 9:58am

“He will engulf the stage in darkness, and fighters will need to brawl blindly for a while,” Sakurai wrote on Miiverse.

The Nightmare Wizard from Kirby is an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros., director Masahiro Sakurai revealed over Miiverse last night.

“Nightmare Wizard appears as an Assist Trophy! He will engulf the stage in darkness, and fighters will need to brawl blindly for a while,” Sakurai wrote.

“Look out for the effect before it goes dark, and play it to your advantage. Blinding and reversal effects even make the computer players mess up.”

can't wait to hear what you guys think about the pic of the day...

The alternate Zero Suit costumes? They're a little odd. I found it funny they had to preface it with "a female designer worked really hard on these" or whatever.

Can you imagine the response if he DIDN'T say that? It would've been worse than what's already happening.

So is it pretty much a lost cause for Wolf to be in this game?
