im actual disappointed in the roster, there are some really cool characters but there are more clones than ever now and you really think we'ed have got past that

and that and no solid story mode

I'll play Devil's Advocate and say that we should wait and see if Dr. Mario and Dark Pit are actually clones before denouncing them. I mean, honestly, I'm not expecting them to be more than clones, but I'll hold on to that glimmer of hope until it gets shattered. Why in the world they'd do clones in a game where we'll finally get alt costumes is so beyond me. Hell, Dark Pit looks enough like Pit that he could be a color swap.

No Bayonetta, Ice Climbers, or Wonder Red makes me a sad panda. :(

I would have loved to see Bayonetta and Wonder Red, but honestly, did you really think there was a chance we'd see them? I didn't.

And wouldnt system exclusives be an insentive to buy both? Nintendo makes some horrible decisions sometimes

The roster is the same, but each version has it's own exclusive stages, and the recently revealed Rush Mode (or whatever the single player mode that's been displayed) has been said to be exclusive to the 3DS. I agree there wasn't a need to make the rosters the exact same, but there is plenty of exclusive stuff between versions.

Exactly Tron Bonne (oh, and it's called Smash Run), there's enough difference to justify each purchase.

Also, between the visuals and the online play you know there's going to be even MORE difference between them.

When thinking about the game WAY back at the beginning, I thought about having different rosters. In the end, the only difference I thought of was having a split in the 3rd party characters. So in this case for example, having Mega Man on one system, and Pac-Man on the other.

I'm fine with having the exact same rosters, cause it means I can have time to build up favorites with my 3DS then play them on my Wii U and already be good when my friends come over to play.

honestly.. the roster is what gets me to buy these games.. not stages and not modes. it's a really bizarre decision. I'll only be getting the Wii U version

Super Smash Bros. Has A Spectator Mode On Nintendo 3DS, Too. August 26, 2014 . 11:01am

Super Smash Bros. will have a Spectator Mode, both on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, director Masahiro Sakurai reveals.

Super Smash Bros. will have a Spectator Mode, both on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, director Masahiro Sakurai revealed over Miiverse last night.

“In this mode, you can watch players all around the world fight and make bets with in-game gold,” Sakurai said. “Wager wisely by checking out the player names, rules, win rates, odds, fighters, and stage!!”

Sakurai continued, “Being able to cheer someone on is what really makes spectating matches fun. This time, 1st and 2nd place will get prizes in four-player matches, and spectators can bet the gold they win on Bonus Chances.”

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS will be available this October in North America and Europe.

Even if this is the final roster, I'm still pretty happy with it overall. Not a fan of having three clones (four, if you count Ganondorf I guess), but I like almost all of the new editions. The only major cut I dislike is the Pokemon Trainer. But I'm pretty happy with this.

I'm happy with the roster. But after seeing what is going on with Hyrule Warriors and Mario Kart 8, I would not be surprised if the roster gets expanded via DLC.

If Mario Kart is getting new characters via DLC, why not Smash Bros.?

Animal Crossing and Link are going into Mario Kart 8 via dlc.

Pretty bummed that Wolf was cut. Pretty bummed with the roster in general.

If I ever have the occassion to play this game, I guess I'll go back to Fox.

With the Mario Kart announcement, I am totally expect SSB DLC now.

I'd say it's a sure thing we get Smash Bros DLC. I don't think it'll be the supposed leak DLC (Ice Climbers, Wolf, Lucas, and Snake), though it may contain one or two of them. I doubt that leaked DLC list because it's just Brawl characters. If they're gonna do DLC, I'd imagine there'd be a few new, surprise characters (or even old ones like Mewtwo, Roy or Young Link).

Actually I wouldn't be surprised to see Brawl/Melee themed DLC's that add whatever characters were in that game but weren't in U/3DS and some stages from them. I'd love some new guys in DLC though, Paper Mario would be a sweet character to add.

I hope if there is DLC, it's not just more damn clones like Roy and Young Link. I mean, I guess if they're bundled with mostly new characters and returning characters, whatever, but we've got enough clones. I'd rather they just do a alt costume DLC pack with all the clones or something like that.

But I think is a given that we'll get some DLC at some point. Smash is probably the second or third biggest franchise that Nintendo has, and since they're doing with Mario Kart, I think they'll capitalize. As long as it's like MK8, I have no issues at all.

Are there gonna be Amiibos for every Smash Bros fighter? 40 something Amiibo figures at $20 a pop is insane. I'm an idiotic collector, so if they do an Amiibo for every character, I'm dropping around $800 for all the figures.

Yeah, I believe there's going to be one for each fighter, but I hadn't heard the $20 price point. I didn't think we knew it at this point?

I was just basing that price point off of what I've seen some Skylanders and Disney Infinity stuff go for. Could be closer to the $10-$15 range.

I think most Disney Infinity individual figures are like $12.99. But they do a lot of packs of 1-3 characters for more. Not sure on Skylanders.

$10 a pop would be a smart price point. I'd only have to spend $400 instead of $800

I'm going to hope for $10, but I wouldn't be surprised at $14.99. $20 is ****ing stupid; I really hope Nintendo doesn't try that. I won't be surprised if they just scale to Infinity at $12.99. That's passable for me.

i honestly don't get the point of the Amiibos. it sounds like they're just essentially for data transfering. Are they for anything else?

I mean the concept is great for melee.. but eh is there an open sandbox play like disney infinity or anything?

At this point I only see myself getting the Amiibo's of characters that are my absolute favorites. Ike, Wario, Link, and DK are must buy's for me. We'll see. Probably get more info soonish (hopefully).

I wonder how this leak is going to affect the marketing. Will we get any more announcement videos?

It's data transfering, yes, that's a big part of it. If I recall, I think you can also level up your Amibo and "summon" it in single player to practice or do team battles with it. I don't think any features beside that have been talked about. And no, as of now, there's no Infinity styled game that's been announced.

Basically, when you get down to it, though, the best way to think of Amiibos, from my understanding, is as collectibles/toys. They just happen to be toys that actually has some kind of function with some games. Toys that actually do stuff.

Here’s A Look At The Character Customization Screen In Super Smash Bros. For 3DS. August 28, 2014 . 2:31pm

Director Masahiro Sakurai has shared a look at the character customization screen for the Nintendo 3DS version of Super Smash Bros
Director Masahiro Sakurai has shared a look at the character customization screen for the Nintendo 3DS version of Super Smash Bros.

On Miiverse, Sakurai explained, “Customize your characters in the Custom section. It sounded better to customize ‘characters’ instead of ‘fighters,’ so that’s what we went with.”

“There are various ways to customize, but make sure you remember to set up the powers you’re bringing with you before playing a round of Smash Run.”

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS will be available in October in North America and Europe.
