I seriously doubt that shortlist is relevant now, 2 or 3 months ago, yes.

I'll suggest Padelecki again. 6'4" and looking better as he ages:

I'll be honest. I dunno if he has the full chops for it, but damn I wouldnt mind seing him in the suit just once.

I like Padalecki, but it's hard to get a grasp of him as Superman. He looks great in those shots above, but in others he looks completely different.

I think WB already has a decision made.

They are probably just waiting for the right time for the press release.

Likely to generate hype.

What that is they are waiting for I have no idea.

Edit.

Maybe they have yes.

But seeing the usually common process, weird, that we didn't hear about a shortlist from credible sources.

Now there are exeption to the rules, see Tom Hardy in Tdk rises for example.

Don't know if he's got the chops? You must be joking!

Jared and Jensen are two actors that deserve to win countless awards for their performances in Supernatural!

Jared is a terrific actor and he would make a fantastic Superman.

I could live with that.

For two reasons in my opinion.

1) The Nolan/Snyder effect. If they think he's good enough to be chosen, fans automatically become more accepting.

2) Anytime a fan's choice is either ruled out or less likely to be played, you suddenly start seeing them lending support to other choices. It happened after Routh was ruled out, then it happened with Hamm, so on and so forth

Great post.

Speaking for myself, I have to say it's because I'm accepting the more leaner, and better look that he has, now, versus the older look that I was more exposed to.

This look:

Serves him better than this look:

When it comes to Superman.

God, he is so wrong for this role, imo. He doesn't have the right look, presence or majesty for this character. AT ALL. He comes off as too creepy and dark to me. I haven't seen him act so I won't talk about that. Oh and his smile? Yeah, creepy.

Brandon Routh is still my choice by far. He has the best look so far to me and is a very solid actor. Hope he still has a chance.

Great look from any angle you look, imo:

Routh and "Very Solid Actor" being used in the same sentence just makes me chuckle every time. To each their own. :cwink:

...and..no...he is not on the list anymore.

yeah...i didn't chuckle but i can't help but disagree. he's a good looking guy and with some training he could be a solid actor, but he's very monotone in everything he does.

Rouths not the best but when someone praises Joe M and criticizes Routh, you have to laugh. Atleast Routh actually resembles Superman.

That Calgary article cites imdb, any article that cites imdb is usually full of crap. They might be right about the film shooting in that particular area of Canada, but they probably pulled those rumored names from old threads on forums.

personally, i've criticized Joe's nose...but that's the only real fault i can find of him. otherwise, he looks a good deal like Supes and has good charisma on and off the set.

on the other hand, Routh (imo) has a better look and while he was good charisma in interviews, his charisma disappears while filming.

We all have are personal likes and dislikes of the alleged candidates, thats most of what makes these casting wars so darn frustrating...dealing with your opposites.

Cant we just get an announcement already so we can move into the acceptance/denial phase.

Yes he is, and a REAL and talented director like Edgar Wright agrees with that, and that to me has A LOT more weight than what some online people who I don't even know think. :cwink: lol

I agree, Routh must be back. He has the perfect look, height, build voice and acting chops.

I'm playing hockey in Hell tonight on account of the fact that you & I actually agree on something.

Well... I think he's also the type of candidate WB would look at, and as far as I remember he already tested for McG. He has the height, the looks, can act and could easily bulk up... Jared would be a solid Supes, honestly...

if there's any good that will come from the official announcement it will be that people will stop hoping that Routh will be back as Supes. i supported the guy before the movie came out...but he's proven to be ineffective....AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, they're REBOOTING THE FRANCHISE!!! THIS MEANS ROUTH IS OUT!!!

Routh does indeed have the look, no one is disputing that.
The Look is a really good starting point for whomever is considered, but It takes alot more than the ''look''. They have to have Charisma to start with, then they have to make the audience believe they are superman for a couple of hours. Routh was kinda hit and miss in that regard. I say hit and miss because most dont care if he comes back or not, they are indifferent to him..If he had won most over, then every post here, and elsewhere, would be bring routh back. I see a little of that, but not much.
I personally have no problem with routh, I just dont think he has a chance.

It's best to keep an open mind and support whoever is cast in the title role (of Superman).

Make any judgements after watching the movie in theaters about the actor's ability or lack thereof to own the role.

This means that all the actors discussed here have some chance till we hears from the official sources. (that would mean TW, Routh, Cavill, Joe M, Armie H, Jared Padelecki, Ryan McPartlin, Rick Malambri and all others that I have not included.)

Id be more than ok with Padalecki.
