i'd rather see Ackles than Padelecki. don't really care for Padelecki's look.

Routh does indeed have the look, no one is disputing that.
The Look is a really good starting point for whomever is considered, but It takes alot more than the ''look''. They have to have Charisma to start with, then they have to make the audience believe they are superman for a couple of hours. Routh was kinda hit and miss in that regard. I say hit and miss because most dont care if he comes back or not, they are indifferent to him..If he had won most over, then every post here, and elsewhere, would be bring routh back. I see a little of that, but not much.
I personally have no problem with routh, I just dont think he has a chance.

Most people liked him and supported him. They just got fed up with no real news all this time and left.

And I think BR was effective as The Man of Steel; the film made as much as Batman Begins at the BO... SR just wasn't the action packed film to make the big bucks the studio was expecting, but it was a good intro of the character to new audiences, imo. It deserved a sequel. Oh well, this is WB after all....

As much as I think Routh deserves another chance and Welling deserves one on the big screen I think its time to let it go...

palecki is a great actor, solid and charismatic. he along with ackles are 2 great actors who really should be huge film stars.

Especially Jensen Ackles. I cannot believe Ackles has not even been chosen for any comic book role, the guy is one hell of a good actor.

He would have been so much better for Captain America than Chris Evans.

Just a general observation and response to a number of posts and posters.

The reason anybody is even talking about Joe. M or Hammer is because these are basically the only two names that have been brought up in the media as being in association with a possible new Superman film.

It doesn't mean that certain people support these actors or are jumping on the bandwagon. I personally rather talk about them because they are the closest thing to real candidates we have. It's better than just randomly picking dudes from IMDB and Google with acting credentials in my opinion.

Yes, it serves no purpose rejecting people who are actually being mentioned for the part because 'Routh was better', as Routh will not be cast.

NONE of the names mentioned really strike me as Superman.

Can you prove that?

Can you prove that?

He will, just wait for the press release.

WB has way too much at stake with this film. It HAS to succeed for them this time.

Being a reboot means trying to disassociate themselves with the last one, which means not using the same lead actor either.

I would love it if we could get Routh back again.

But let's face it. This is a reboot because SR wasn't successful. They want to distance themselves from it. Recasting the main actor is a bad way of doing that.

We also know that his contract has expired.

We also know that they are looking for other actors.

Maybe there's a tiny chance that Snyder likes Routh and brings him back. But I wouldn't hold my breath.

What about Alex O'Loughlin

He has the great chiseled jaw look, and whereas his hair rather short right now he's had the Superman-long do before and I'm sure he could grow it back out.

Plus he kicks ass on Hawaii Five-O and he's in great shape.

Oh and he did a great job playing a sweet farm boy in The Back Up Plan, although the movie was complete crap.

yup, we've been talking about it for a couple of days now.

Cant wait to hear who else is being looked at. Manganiello and Hammer can hardly be the only ones.

Any realistic ideas who others could be?

No idea, but by now I'd venture they have it narrowed down to a short list.

If in fact they have not already decided, and are just waiting for the press release.

Joe M - Superman / Clark Kent

Armie H - Pete Ross (below)

I would prefer BR to return though... but chances are slim...

According to this site JOE MANGANIELLO RUNNING FOR THE ROLE!

JOE MANGANIELLO LOOKS LIKE THE SUPERMAN BIRTHRIGHT...RIGHT?:woot:

It has to be Joe, his name is THEE only one bein talked about other than Hammer and this isn't the first time his name is a hot topic. Someone knows something for Joe's name to keep popping up like this.

I still can't believe people think Routh is got a chance. The whole point of the reboot is to get rid of him!

Yes he is, and a REAL and talented director like Edgar Wright agrees with that, and that to me has A LOT more weight than what some online people who I don't even know think. :cwink: lol

If the "Yes, he is" is referring to him being on the list still, I will assure you that he isn't. No, you don't know me and you don't have to believe me, but he's not being considered at all by WB for this film.

Edgar Wright...the director of a movie he had a small part in. What...do you expect Wright to say? His actors sucked?

Can you prove that?

See Above. To satisfy people's desire for actual "proof", I would have to reveal a source and how I know, which I am not going to compromise. That's why those that do have inside information are caught in a tough position, we aren't able to "prove" some things without risking losing a source, or in my case probably lose a few friends if they knew I was going into more detail. :cwink:

the chances of Routh coming back are slim to none.

this is not a sequel, and I seriously doubt WB wants the new movie to have anything related to SR......

if they did, we would already have had a SR sequel by now................

Actually when I saw the pics of Joe's smile it remind me of how Reeve would sometimes smile and sure enough after watching STM again last night very much the same smile. Kind of a tight lip half smile if that makes any sense.

It's funny you say that, i thought the same thing..it kind of floored me, but some of his mannerisms, patterns of speech are slightly reminicient of Reeve's...which i noticed in an interview, were totally unexpected- he doesn't sound or act like you think from some of his stern faced still shots..(at least not to me)

I wouldn't mind Manganiello, to be honest. Not my preffered choice, but I wouldn't be opposed to it.
