I've been around these boards a long time...I've seen fan wish lists come and go, and "front runners" drop into obscurity.

Do you guys want to know the one thing that EVERY major front runner for a superhero movie has in common? They NEVER get the role.

Logan Lerman/Josh Hutcherson.
Bradley Cooper.
John Krasinski.
Alexander Skarsgaard.
Alice Eve.
Crispin Glover.
Lachey Hulme (yeah, that's going back to 2006/7).
Ashton Kutcher.

Just saying...

Please don't tell me that you are referring to Krasinksi being a frontrunner for Captain America. That rumor was debunked the day it came out.

Just because some of those names were on a rumor list of people who may have auditioned doesn't make them frontrunners for the role.

Good god, Lachey Hulme!

That's brought back some memories!

No it's true. With Captain America, wasn't there several frontrunners, and all of a sudden it was Chris Evans?

It was rumor that Krasinski was a frontrunner. Deadline debunked the rumor that he was a frontrunner the same day it was reported. He may have auditioned, but he was never actually a frontrunner. :cwink:

Yes, and at one point John Krasinski actually had the role. In the same way Josh Hutcherson had Spider-Man before getting contractually cock-blocked outta it.

I'll be gald when this news dam springs a leak.

Jamie, I know you have an inside ear, do you have any idea on when they are looking at a press release?

Even an educated guess?

Anything you able to say like they already have a choice or are still knee deep in casting the lead?

Around the time Darren Aronofsky and Frank Miller were kicking around BATMAN: YEAR ONE and WB was considering both BATMAN VS SUPERMAN and a new Superman film were being considered, Ashton Kutcher auditioned for both Batman and Superman, and word is, his screentests were amazing.

Perhaps, since they no longer need to spend the money to CG muscles, they could use it to CG Joe M's nose?

Who the hell was Ashton Kutcher rumoured to play?

He auditioned for SR. It seems like whenever it is discovered some known name auditions, that automatically makes them a frontrunner, which is completely misguided, but that is what the media likes to do. So and so auditioned so that puts him on the list and that makes him a frontrunner... :whatever: Whether he was an actual frontrunner is speculative at best. Same goes for Krasinksi. It appears Jamie and I disagree on something for once. :yay:

In all honesty if it really is an issue and that is the deal breaker they could simply apply a very small 'filler' prosthetic at the top of the bridge on Joe's nose just below the brow line. It could make it look a lot straighter. Think Star Trek: Deep Space Nine "Bajoran" without the ridges.

i'd rather see Ackles than Padelecki. don't really care for Padelecki's look.

How tall is Ackles? I read 6' 2" somewhere, but I'm not sure I buy that. When he was on SV Tom Welling towered over him and he is 6' 3" or so. I got a sense back then that he is 5' 10" at best. Who knows perhaps he is 6' 2".

Ackles is 6'1." And I agree with preferring him over Padalecki. Neither is a very good actor or a good candidate for Supes, imo, but Ackles bugs me less. ;)

Not knocking either Supernatural actor - never watched the show although I've heard great things. But it is expected to get another season, and they'll be too busy with their shooting schedule to be able to juggle Superman.

Lol, totally unecessary.

So he auditioned and was amazing? Well if they had gone with him for Superman he'd have needed way more Cgi/makeup (than Joe M would) to get his nose looking right imo. If WB's et al seriously considered Kutcher then Joe's nose may not be such a big issue as some are making out. I'm easy Cavill, Routh, Hammer, Maganiello, Unknown...Come on WB's/Snyder pick someone or give us a 'real' short list.

Was Lachy Hulme ever even considered for the Joker? I thought that was just a rumor.

Oh, and I'd take Manganiello over Hammer. Nose aside, I think he's got the better face for Supes.

Hulme said in interviews that he was in talks for the role, but it wasn't looking good for him.

I wouldn't be suprised if Joe M was a frontrunner , given the fact he fits the criteria of an being a relative unknown, someone who's appealled to the ladies, having the right height, and acting chops. I wouldn't be surprised if they did go with him despite whatever complaints fans may have.

We were only saved from Nic Cage being Superman because they never had a decent script along with other issues
