Yes, and at one point John Krasinski actually had the role. In the same way Josh Hutcherson had Spider-Man before getting contractually cock-blocked outta it.

Damn, I was a heavy supporter of Krasinski too.

As a long-time admirer of Superman I was thrilled to hear of his return to the big screen. Although plain as it was, Brandon Routh(as well as Parker Posey) added their distinct eye-candy attractiveness to the flick, and not to forget to mention the director is gay. Is Mystilplix(MS) a dwarf, midget, or just a short old man. I was thinking that actor who played Mini-Me could play such a role. HMMM?
Really dig Superboy's outfit in the new ANMIE series Young Justice. That red on black is awesome combination. Though that tight 1930's styled bathing suit he wore on the first episode wasn't all bad either.

We seem to be agreeing more and more lately! t: It was brought up here because someone listed supposed frontrunners for Cap...none of them got the part and the same could happen for this film....so don't take the frontrunners so seriously.

Krasinski as Cap made no sense whatsoever. That has nothing to do with being small-minded. Just open-eyed.

While Krasinksi looks nothing like Cap, I was a supporter of his casting because I thought they were gonna play up the wholesome average joe aspect of Cap, which I thought he'd fit really well (and is a tall guy with a deep voice who I could potentially see being pretty commanding once he bulked up). But Evans is a much, much better choice all-around, imo. In fact, there are a couple posts between another and I in the Cap Casting Thread about a week or two before Evans' name was officially thrown into the mix, where we were both wishing Evans was "an option" because we thought he'd be a better candidate than any of the ones we got, but we both assumed he wasn't thanks to FF. I'm VERY confident they picked the right guy. Hopefully Snyder & Co. make a similarly wise decision.

I don't know if she would do both, but Sally Field is already Aunt May in the Spider-Man reboot.

But from what I know of Superman, this cast looks pretty good...except for Superman. I'm still going for Joe M.

These are the first two pictures I've seen of Joe that make him look like he could play Superman. However the top picture doesnt even look like the bottom picture or like Joe for that matter. Also it is black and white with heavy lighting and most people look good this way which is why people get their portfolio shots done like this. The bottom pic is not bad but he's got the beard which hides how unbalanced his nose makes his face.

Actors and talents do portfolio shots to show the versatility in their look. The more diverse of looks you can show throughout a portfolio the better. In my opinion, from the days I dealt with casting talent and working with portfolios, the more flexible one could look in their portfolio the more ability they had to get work. Someone who looks the same throughout their portfolio is going to be more limited as to the casting calls they would get.

Funny how some people complain that Manganiello only looks like a dumb jock and now some complain about him looking too different from what he normally looks like. The guy just can't win!

I find it kind of sad that I can't think of any other actors besides Cavill, Conway, or Manganiello that I would like to see take up the role of Supes.
I mean, I feel like the ensemble is so much easier to cast.

It's been a while since I've posted. I was not terribly surprised by the recent confirmation by Manganiello that he is a contender for the Superman role. I was a Hamm-supporter (though I totally understood the negatives and as for Hamm, at least we might still see him in a different superhero movie), but I've always been open to other candidates. Manganiello wasn't among my favorites, and I'm still skeptical about his acting chops, but after viewing a few of his youtube videos and mock-ups by fans, I'm convinced he can at least pull off the look.

I wouldn't be disappointed to see him don the suit. I do think there are better choices out there, but I'm starting to think Snyder is running out of time and the timeframe doesn't give him much to build an actor physically. With Manganiello, Snyder wouldn't have to do much in that dept. A good director can push Manganiello to be a better actor.

Have no idea who else is on that shortlist, but something tells me that Manganiello might be one of a handful of actors Snyder is seriously thinking about casting.

I actually really like a lot of the names you put up there. If I had to choose from your list I would say...
Superman=Cavill
Jor-el=Hamm
Lara=Regan
Lois... = This one is hard, I'm personally pulling for Ashley Greene right now, but between your choices either Wilde or McAdams. Amy Adams is my favorite on that list, but I'd prefer her to be Lana if they did a sequel and wanted to add tension.

Jonathon=Greenwood
Martha=Hunt(I actually don't like this choice, but she wins by default)
Jimmy=Yelchin
Perry=Keaton
Brainiac=Reeves

I'm liking the work you put into your list. I don't agree with all the choices but the pics look great and do support your list well. Also think Olivia Wilde has a great look for Lois. Not sure about her acting though since I've only seen her in Tron.
