The Official Superman Thread - Part 2

That's basically what I'm still interested in the series for. If Superman's gonna stay a childish fratboy for a significant amount of time, I doubt I'll stick with it. But if the series demonstrates that it's about Superman's growth from a cocky young kid to the greatest superhero of all time, I'm in.

I feel the same way on both points.

has there been any mention of Lana's role in Superman's life in the new DCU?

also, how soon in Supergirl's story arc do you think they will wait to reveal her "new" powers?

Really. People are calling him a Frat boy now? Jesus... I guess Frat boy is the new emo, then?

Nah, Hipster is the new Emo.

Frat Boy is the blanket term for *****e bag.

And really, he's more of a Liberal *****e than a Frat Boy. :o

I wonder when Brony becomes the new Hipster.

Last Son sucked but Robinson's Mon-El arc was very underrated especially towards the beginning. As the New Krypton then started and things got more convoluted it affected the quality of Mon-El's journey IMO but it wasn't such a hindrance that I didn't enjoy it either.

last son was good, and superman earth one was not emo, get your **** straight.

and neither are characterizations I'd normally associate with Superman.....:o :oldrazz:

Well, now you know why so many people were pissed about the reboot. Everything they know is now changed.

I like how a ****ing teen or kid in early twenties trying to find his place in the world, starting new in another city is emo with you simpletons.

Are you just sitting and reading the same post over and over again?

there were like 60 posts calling earth one emo.

There was like 2, and the rest alternated between whether the new Superman was a frat boy or a *****e bag, what emo actually means, and whether or not Earth 1 simply sucked.

obviously you haven't been to the earth one thread :o

I have no problem with a young character trying to find his/her place in the world. In fact, I expect that and welcome that.

However, just because you are finding your place in the world doesn't mean you can treat other people badly. Especially if you are Superman.

In Earth One, Clark was a bit too "self-absorbed." To the point where, when his apartment room was on fire, he was only concerned about saving HIS STUFF and protecting HIS SECRET. Even though the firemen were rushing up the stairs, Clark could have easily put out the fire before they got there and still have time to fly out there with his suit and crystal. y'know.....if you were concerned about the fire spreading and other people's safety.

Also, when the aliens attacked Metropolis, Clark stood there for a good amount of time, unsure what to do or if he should get involved, while the CITY WAS BEING DESTROYED, and presumably, PEOPLE GETTING HURT OR KILLED!!

And, in the cheesy "interview" that Superman "gave" to Clark at the end, Superman said that he had to end the interview cuz there were still people trapped under rubble. REALLY??!! So, IOW, this Superman, knowing that he still had people to rescue and lives were still at stake, took time out to "speak to" some young reporter on the street.....

Again, Earth One Clark was so worried about himself that he didn't really show much concern for other people's well being.

And now, in the relaunch, we have a Superman who is, in a sense, abusing his power. He's toying with that corrupt businessman's life by dropping him and then catching him. He's flaunting his powers to the cops, taunting them........

Superman is supposed to be RAISED BETTER than all of that. He's SUPPOSED TO BE BETTER than all of that.

maybe "emo" is not the right word. but, it's definitely NOT Superman.......

The building was empty.

He was saving them faster than anyone could see.

Yeah that was weird for Clark to write such an article about himself, he made himself look bad lol.

He's telling them to do the good thing because going thru the legal system clearly doens't work. Superman is a friend of justice, not the legal system.

Superman is supposed to be RAISED BETTER than all of that. He's SUPPOSED TO BE BETTER than all of that.

Well he's learning, since in #3 we learn he's causing millions of colleteral damage lol.

The relaunch is golden age homage and that's not my superman so take that **** out of this conversation.

The Earth One stuff you're complaining about is all stuff that a growing kid does. Superman or not, he was raised as a human and he's still learning from his mistakes. No one comes out of the womb perfect.

well, I guess I just expect more out of Clark........:o

Opinions are like *******s sorry to burst your bubble. Last Son was a long winded waste of time. Of course if you read it in trade it as opposed to putting up with the damn delays like I did it was probably a less lousier read. As for the bold WTF are you talking about?

i'm not a newb dude. i read that **** when it was coming out in issues and i reread it after the last issue came out and i just reread it in trade that i got 60% off from a closing boarders.

I'm still fairly excited about getting Action Comics this week. I have faith in Morrison and I like the sound of his ideas for Superman that he's mentioned in interviews

I'll probably pick up AC #1, too.

but, since I'm not really into comics, I'm kind of debating if I should just wait for the 1st story arc to be released in trade paperback.......

that's generally how I read my comic stories these days.......lol
