They've needed to bring this version of Superman back for years. This is how to kill the establishment stooge big blue boy scout crap. And it needs to die.

This, really. Yeah, people just want Supes the way he was, but that ***** just wasnt working anymore. Not with new readers, and apparently, not even with the caretakers of Supes.

I for one am glad this Superman has some edge to him, and more personality than just "I always do the right thing". Its nice to see that, while he is a great man and the greatest Superhero, he does have some character flaws.

The Best part is that Morrison has brought back the Original Superman and is putting him in a 21st century context. While this guy will mature, I hope that he matures into a refined version of Siegel/Shuster's character and not just the boy scout.

I believe this kind of Superman is the one that will find a larger audience in this generation. He's got the alpha-maleness of the Golden Age Superman, but retains the compassion and heart that has defined him these past decades. Welcome back, Superman.

I think Morrison said he'll be getting more and more powerful as he progresses. Right now his powers are kind of in their infancy, like they were with him as Superboy in All Star Superman. In Perez's Superman we'll probably get a better idea of what Supes's general power will be, or in later issues of AC.
