If someone who considers Iron Man 2 to be a 'debacle' thought Thor was decent, then that must mean it's great.

That was my thought as well. I am so stoked to see this film!

Acting wise, well I'll put my hand up and say I didn't think Hemsworth had it in him, having seen far more of him than most on this board I was always unimpressed with what I'd seen and didn't give him a hope in hell. Well hand me that piece of humble pie coz he proved me wrong (the second former Aussie soap star to do so in the last 6 months I might add).
The other one being?

Well,
In a way I'm kind of glad to hear that because Thor doesn't get "beatdown" like most other superheroes when facing a powerful villain, but then again, I'm not a fan of one-sided fights. So does Thor atleast use a good number of attacks to defeat him?
The one villain who can take it Thor is the Destroyer. I guess i depends who is controlling it.

Holy crap, these positive reviews just keep pouring in.

All of you who've seen the movie, I have one question that I haven't seen answered or mentioned in any of the reviews I've read?

How much does Thor wear his helmet in the movie?

There were a couple of quick little shots in the trailers, but is that it or do we get to see Thor wear his helmet the way he's supposed to?

Seems the movie has everything about Thor just right, but did they drop the ball with his helmet?

Have there been any negative reviews from the mainstream press yet or still just small websites?

I'm actually surprised by the amount of positive reviews. I knew it would be good but wow. Can't wait to see it!

I'm also pleasantly suprised by all the positive reviews.

Also pleased to read that it's better than Iron Man 2 (But simply because EVERYONE online seems to hate it! - I actually really liked IM2! - Am I alone in that?!)

No alot of people like it. I think the general consensus was, not as good as the first, but alot of people like it, including me. People talk about it like it was one of the Fantastic Four movies, and it was a hell of alot better than that.

Anyway, I'm glad that it's getting such great reviews too. Can't wait to see it.

No it wasn't! The second F4 movie is way better than IM2.

I still want to know if Thor wears his helmet the way he should in the movie?

Nope. I even liked it a smidge more than the first one.

I really liked it too, I thought it dragged a bit where he was trying to come up with the new element to power his suit and that the ending could have used a bit more work but the start was excellent right up to the middle, and overall I felt it was very good.

I don't know why you think that. The FF movies were pretty awful. Check the RT meter, FF2 is at 37%. Not that you can always count on the meter, but a rating that low is pretty indicitive of how good it is.

The second Iron Man was awesome, just fell short of the first by a couple feet.

Microchip, I couldn't care less what the RT meter says, I go by what my own eyes see, and I saw IM2 and F42 and F42 was much better.

IM2 was worst than the first, F42 was better than the first!

It's great that Thor is rating high on the RT meter, but I will form my own opinion when I see it.

Still want to know if Thor wears his helmet the way he should in the movie?

I like IM2 less each time I watched it, but it is not an awful movie by any means...it's just a bit average and didn't match the expectation that we all have before we went to see this movie. FF2, on the other hand, had a slightly better Dr. Doom and cool Silver Surfer CGI, but it was still a subpar movie and made worse by the cloud Galactus they pulled on us at the climax of the movie. Simply put, IM2 >>> FF2.

I hated FF2. I mildly enjoyed the first one but hated the second one. The first one was at least really stupid fun. The second one is a horrid mess (in my opinion, just so no one mistakes this as anything else)

And I'm one of those people who likes IM2.

I just found out...

Thor only wears his helmet during his coronation, this is a major bummer for me, because Thor always wears his helmet. I know why though. Chris Hemsworth is the star, and they want us to see his face as much and as clear as we can.

Wow, someone actually like FF2? Imma just go ahead and pretty much ignore everything he says now... lol

IM2 was great outside of the short Whiplash fight at the end

And I, also, am quite happy and surprised to see all the positive words for Thor.
Especially the stuff about Anthony Hopkins playing Odin well.
He can occasionally phone things in, glad to see he gave it a real go here.

Good, glad i'm not alone in my Iron Man 2 love!

Whilst I'm aware this is a Thor thread, I shall just briefly comment on FF2 - It was awful! - Sat through it once, and that was it. Thought the trailer was good when it came out, but aside from that, the rest was simply horrendous.

Ok! - On with THOR!

Boredguy, I could say the exact samthing about you liking IM2, but I won't because I don't think that way!

SuperSaint, the way you feel about F42, is the very same way I feel about IM2. The lamest villian and robots ever!

I agree with this. IM2 is not bad I just found it to be very underwhelming, anti-climatic and forgettable to be honest. It's not just an internet thing. But it's still better fluff like SM3, X3, FF 1 & 2.

Ok, just saw the end credits clip on YT. Not really gonna comment on it beyond noting that it's the longest of these yet in a Marvel Studios film. Most are about 45-50 seconds long but this was more like a minute & a half.
