The best gauge I know of is to wait for Cinemascore's exit polling. That's from real audience members who actually CHOSE to pay money to see it and hardly any of them went in with any sort of negative bias beforehand(otherwise they wouldn't have gone in the first place). And that's still not so much a gauge of whether the film is good so much as it is a reflection of how well it did with it's intended audience(which is the most important thing after all).

I never really cared too much about the fight between Thor and 'The Destroyer' in the movie.

There's always at least one review like this. I can't wait to see what Devin Faraci cooks up. He has been hating on the film for months.

Mr. Beaks (Jeremy Smith) of CHUD already tweeted that he dislikes the movie. I tweet to him that I think it sucks that he doesn't like it, and here's what he said to me:

One man's opinion. It's received a number of... tolerant reviews. @headgeek666 said he loved it.

Wow, you've never read any Thor vs Destroyer fights in the comics, have you?

The best example of that is Watchmen. Wasn't a hit with the masses or the critics, but I loved it as a fan.

I saw a bit of one of their bouts, and I can seriously say that it didn't give me a wowy type of feeling. I'm more interested in the fight between Thor and Loki from the movie, before I read about Thor and before the movie's existence, I wasn't much of a 'Thor' fan either.

Yeah Saad basically to the Thor fan it'll be underwhelming.
To give you an idea how Destroyer's power is, Destroyer Almost Killed Thor in Volume 2 #1 (he was still a normal Thor) and had to be merged with Jake Olsen to heal.
In Volume 3, Balder was inside Destroyer, but Thor is the Lord of Asgard by then and even a fraction of a second exposed to it's beam hurt him pretty good.

NOTHING is supposed to be able to harm Destroyer. Keep that in mind during the movie.

Well I wasn't specifically meaning fans of a certain property when I said it's intended audience. That's just the fanboys*. I meant it in a little more broader terms of people who would tend to gravitate to a certain type of film(to use Watchmen as an example again it'd be people who tend to like fantasy, scifi, crime & action genres rather than fans of that specific comic book).

*Who aren't really indicative of the whole audience that the film was aiming for.

When taking into account that whole portion of the general audience it was aiming for who tend to like these kinds of films, I'd have to say it's stock falls considerably in contrast to people who were just fans of THAT comic book. Yet that's still largely excluding types who aren't into this kind of film much if at all, which is who I was trying to eliminate from the equation in the first place since frankly they count for nothing.

The guy in the SciFiNow review had several unusual" complaints, like calling Loki "one dimensional" and generally disliking Asgard.

I've never really saw those complaints before, as a matter of fact, we've been reading the complete opposite actually.

all the negative reviews that i have read so far have bin doin the same...
they contradict the gud things that the positive reviews said...like the first first negative review said that storyline was gud and the movie was unemotional...

I find it interesting that Kirbyfan thinks Thor shouldn't have any humour. That's, kinda not what Thor is. There has always been humour in Thor's books.
Any character created and written by Stan Lee is a character that has inherent comedy elements.

Since they are making Thor 2 (after the Avengers), I hope the Destroyer will be brought back, but make it almost equal to Thor due to the power surge it received from some villain or Loki. What we have seen in this movie may just be Round 1.

Off to see the film now, will report back in about 3 hours.

I was gonna hit up twitter later to see what people think of Thor, but realized I'd really rather not stumble on any spoilers-- particularly the after-credits scene. I had that ruined for me for IM2 by CBM's main page and I want to see it cold as possible at this point.

CBM is a cancer, don't go there in general.

I only go on sometimes because it collects all the little articles around the web that mention Marvel movies so I don't have to follow a hundred sites. But their exclusive articles are about as useful as rehab for Charlie Sheen.

CBM is rumor-mongering at its worst. And sometimes they manage to get these rumors spread all over the net despite how patently false they are.

The one thing that I detest about CBM is that 'grif' guy. He's always posting the same stupid video over and over and over and over.

It always pisses me off when /Film uses them as a source. Then you have me and a bunch of other people commenting not to believe them.

Chewy, didn't you start a rumor at CBM about the Captain America trailer and Sucker Punch?

Haha, yeah I posted on article on CBM to prove a point to our friend the Mayor.

The funniest thing about it is that before it got closed down you actually had discussions and people approving of the article with the thumbs up haha
