The Official TIH Preview Thread

Wow, Nathan. You sure are tough. You have officially ignored someone. Is this gesture supposed to impress us? Quoting the post of someone who's upset you, with a reply that you're ignoring them is a lame attempt to get in the last word with that person - the internet equivalent of shouting "you suck!" and then running away before he can hit you, with your fingers in your ears going "la-la-la-la-la" so you also won't be able to hear any retort from the one you called out - and it smacks of the kind of behavior you purport to detest so much. You simply ignore the guy, end of story. Instead you responded "I'm ignoring THIS PERSON - THAT will show them!! Ugh. Talk about needing to grow a thicker skin.:whatever:

Before this derails any further, I'll try and steer it back on topic...

Regarding the metamorphosis sound effect: yes, I hope that LL & crew do include some sort of sound effect 'stinger' to coincide with the Gamma Eyes. Otherwise, it loses much of its impact. A sampled & cleaned up cue right off one of the TV episodes would be perfect, or a nice Dolby Digtal THX recreation.

Has anyone ever boxed before? I have, and let me tell you, I would rather get hit by bare knuckles than a fist in a boxing glove. Those thing frickin' hurt! It's pure concussive force. I can only imagine what the car fist feel like to A-bomb...ouch.
and have you ever learned how to interpret a sentence?
I said that the injuries that you suffer are the same, and not that the gloves soften the impact.

The clip looks very promising. But I'm hoping those two will finish what Cloverfield started, and tear Manhattan a new a-hole. Then it becomes a clash of titans.

but even in boxing, the impact is the same.
the purposes of the gloves are to soften the injuries of the hands of the boxer. the injuries applied in the opponent are the same. it's the principle of action and reaction.

:applaud

Jesus. It's not like boxing gloves, people. More like Brass knuckles. Now, who here can explain why Brass knuckles are worse to get hit with than a boxing glove?

Jesus, still with the "car gloves" argument? Even for geek standards that´s pathetic.

now imagine what it would look like with classic Abomination character design:wow:
It wouldn't be any more awesome than it already is!!!:wow::whatever:

Abomies look in this movie is much cooler and more fitting than that of the comics!

you can download a version I made, but is a little lower quality than the HD Quicktime...

The first one is in smaller resolution, good for old computers... The other is in the same resolution than the HD 480p, but the framerate is a little slower...

Thank you pal! That's exactly what I needed!:)... I dont suppose you have the other two clips in that same format!???

How about it's a sport and they don't want to seriously injure each other? Hulk Vs. Abomination isn't a friendly boxing match.

Exactly, Hulks hand are probably ten times tougher than that car.

They put them in the movie, cos it looks good. end of discussion.I don't know why there's a debate to begin with.

That's why it's a movie. You have to go a bit out of your way to make it enjoyable.
If jackie chan wanted to be realistic in his movies, he'd go straight for the lethal hits, and won't look back. Would that be cool? only to a few, perhaps.

But instead, he makes the fight into a sort of dance, working with chroeography, and comedic timing, and stage combat, and performance martial arts, to give enjoyable scenes, that many people look forward to when watching his films.

You guys have to remember that TIH is still a movie. A MOVIE.
It's not a boxing match on espn, it's not happening outside.. it's happening on the screen.
So sit back, and enjoy it.

i know i will :cwink:

Ugh, i was hoping this movie would go beyond the "we'll put it in because it looks cool approach" but i was pretty certain from the start this would be a "cool" looking action fest rather than anything deep.

Check out how incredibly detailed his muscles are. The CG has taken a HUGE leap forward, that's for sure. This is right after he tears the cop car in half, and again look at his eyes, I guess the glow is always going to be there. I'm not complaining at all, because I think it's cool as hell. Do you guys think that there will be at least one moment in the film where you will here a newer version from the 70's version of the TV HULK, of the sound of Banner changing into the HULK? Anyway, here is that image that I was talking about at the beginning of this rant.

I completely agree. This clip showing Hulk and Abomy fight is incredible, it really is! I was one of those who said on several occasions that Hulk in this movie still looked "fake" (yet I've always thought he was MUCH cooler and better looking than in Ang Lee's Hulk, I need to add!) But I also said that I could bare with Hulk looking a bit cartoonish, just as long as the story holds up! This is the first time, from within this movie I can honnestly say that Hulk looks amazing!!!

This is as real as it's gonna get (in this point in time). I can't even begin to emagine the hard work and complexity it takes to pull something like this off! To create a green monster completely by CG and make it look believable. I have the deepest respect for the creators of this HULK! He looks so ****ing badass! And there will be times in the movie where he will look better than in some other places, it all depends on how much work has been spend on the different scenes. This here scene looks too badass for words! Let's prey the rest of that 20 minutes fightsequence is just as amazing!!!:)

I wish I knew where the posts for Ang Lee's Hulk was because much of the same arguments against this incarnation of the Hulk were used for ILM's Hulk as well. It shows you how redundant the criticism is.

Exactly, Hulks hand are probably ten times tougher than that car.

Tougher yes but not sharper and less likely to pierce Abombs really tough skin. Think of it this way, the car provides the need to split Abomb's skin, once that is done Hulk can pound on it, widening the cut, causing further damage.

Jesus, Hulk is protecting his own hands, remember, Abominations has his bones sticking out of his body, and he´s as hard and stronger than Hulk.

I agree with that and add that to what I just said makes the need for the steel gloves perfectly plausible and it looks really cool! :woot:.

Louis Leterrier was misinterperated by Empire magazine. He said that the final act is 26 minutes long with the actual battle being about 10-15 minutes long. He said a 26 minute fight would get boring and there is only so much you can do with two monsters.

One of the things I like better about this CGI is the Hulk shots are not so "neat", the camera gets shaky, he´s more affected by the environment´s light, this is one of things that often denounce CGI, that everything looks perfectly framed and lit.

If you watch the clip again you will see that after Hulk pounds Abomination with the car he then grabs Abomination's right rib cage, practically squeezing it and then punches Abomination in the face.

To think what we saw was just 43 seconds of a 15 minute (give or take) battle is amazing, honestly I think this will go down as the best brawl in any comicbook movie.....depending on how it ends.

He's propably right... Just as long as they make it a GOOD fight, and I'm sure it will be!:woot:

After the car is all destroyed and useless, and he managed to punch him a lot with it.

I don't know about you but I think so far the most widely regarded superhero/villain fight in a populated area has to be the Metropolis fight between Superman and General Zod, Ursa and Non. Despite the FX they had back then you really got a sense what it would be like to be a mere mortal stuck in the middle of a fight between super powered beings and just how dangerous it is. I certainly hope that LL has captured that very essence.

Yeah that was one great fight, felt really epic, having the whole city as their arena, just like it's going to be between Hulk and Abomb. To me the ending will be crucial to the battle though, if hulk goes with the cliche ending of killing abomb I would be slightly disappointed.
