The Official Toronto Thread

Toronto is a great city. It has everything really.

The women there are SUPER hot. Its incredible.

Well, it'll probably be after 3pm before we get all the way downtown from the East end.

I will be stuck at CanStage all day, I think. I do not even know if I am going out for dinner on the last day. If I do, it will be with my Dad, whom I believe is seeing the matinee.

I am a bit jealous of the folks in the Mississauga area, if they can handle the rythym and are willing to make the effort, they can go to a very special place where people get all hot,

It's a sad day friends

Big Fat Burrito is moving into Lee's Palace, and the building's iconic painted façade, featuring monsters of every colour and form stretching across the length of the building's first storey and reaching up to its second, has been quietly moved out.
This morning, construction workers began to break apart the wall—painted by artist Runt twenty-something years ago—piece by piece, the result of a deal struck in June between Big Fat Burrito and Lee's that will see the take-out restaurant lease out space in the music venue and the entrance to Lee's moved to the building's side. Standing beside a few pieces of the mural cut out and saved for Runt (most of the rest of it landed in a dumpster around back), Big Fat Burrito owner Mike Shepherd explained that his store will open in two weeks' time, the new second location for a store whose flagship is in Kensington Market.
Rather than stucco and concrete and mesh, Shepherd said, the building's new façade will be metal, and it's that new façade that's being turned over as a new canvas to none other than Runt, whose work will fill the wall anew by spring.
Calls to Lee's Palace this afternoon were not immediately returned, but according to Shepherd, the rest of Lee's will continue to function just as it does now, and, when it opens, Big Fat Burrito will be selling concert tickets, too.

Man, Ive been wanting to go to that for the longest time!

Oh and random question, is anyone familiar with Max the Mutt animation school?

Of course, for the people that are truly star struck there is also

The 35th Toronto International Film Festival this weekend.

Toronto After Dark is hands down my favourite film fest. I covered it this year for www.itsjustmovies.com

Yeah, a friend of mine did some classes there before he got his Animation degree. He liked it a lot, but my impression is that its a good place to get a start. For more advanced stuff you'll want a college or university.

Curious, but why exactly did Toronto and Montreal build big ass shopping malls underneath their cities? Really, does Montreal need a 19 mile long shopping complex underneath it? It is cold weather up in Canada or just ran out of room?

I drink Labatt Blue, isn't that from Toronto?

Also :cwink: thank you Canada, that is one tasty beer.

Because we know that it's easier to shop if you can stay dry while doing so.

July & August it's too hot to be outside for long.

December through to March it's too cold to be outside for long.

Maximize your shopping year and take it indoors - making it climate controlled.

Also, downtown Toronto is so built up that the only place to get more real estate is by going down. And heaven knows some of us Torontonians really like to go down ;)

Actually from London, Ontario. And Molson had a plant up in Barrie, Ontario. We were almost surrounded by great brewing companies.

Toronto has Amsterdam, Mill Street, and Steamwhistle which are waaay better than the generic domestic brands anyways.
