Toy Story or even Wall-E esque tone would be fine. It's what it should be.
Rather than Dark Knight with giant robots

The first Movie already set a good tone and level of humor, minus the Bumblebee urinating part. Why couldn't they keep that level for the rest of the franchise?

Right... because we can only choose between dark and gritty or juvenile Bay humor. There's no middle ground. Gotcha.
Well, you gotta make it like batman, cause he's all the rage with the kids these days.

You can have a scene with Optimus Screaming at Starscream. Saying "Where he is!? Where's Megatron!!!!"

Because they know many people love humor, wether it's in poor taste or not, and that they feel as if they are humor proof. The general audience.

I love your Avatar, Apatow Crew. I can totally imagine Bay making smug and insulting comments of the "Nuh uh! You suck" variety instead of contributing to the discussion

that's what a lot of the fandom would like I think....I keep flashing back to this conversation I had where some poster here was trying to make the case that Power Rangers, yes Power Rangers, should be something with a '24' level of intensity

Power Rangers can be turned into something akin to 24. But what would be the point? What benefits would be there? NOTHING! Same thing I would like to ask about Transformers. What's the deal with all the crude and immature/adult humor? There are no benefits to it!

Power Rangers shouldn't become 24
Transformers shouldn't become Borat

Yet the latter has already happened. Why?

because its financially successful??

that's really the only reason I've got....potty humor aside, how serious should you take a franchise involving giant robots that transform and fight each other??

How serious did you take ET or Close Encounters? That much.
Spielberg's Transformers would have been something...

I would even take Abram's lens flares!

I would've liked the same of Transformers 1.

I saw ET when I was 6, I don't think I had a grasp of what made good film at that point

I have three words to describe exactly what would be best for the fans:

Matthew.
Vaughn's.
Transformers.

how about let's not and say we did....short of Bay laying a super bomb with TF3, I doubt there will be a serious change in humor...

and that's what the fandom doesn't get.....Paramount, Hasbro, and DreamWorks have raked in TONS of cash on these films....if it ain't broke, don't fix it seems to be the mindset there

I highly doubt the opinion of some asthmatic basement dweller, wearing a tshirt that says Michael Bay raped my childhood, crying about the integrity of Transformers really reaches anyones ears at Hasbro or Paramount

We should thank God that the Transformers movies aren't suppose to be G rated Disney or Pixar movies, because if they were,I would completely agree that all the outrage over the humor and sexual references are called for.

Thank goodness there will be no twins in TF3, although it still baffles me why they were included in ROTF in the first place. In a movie with many missteps, the twins take the cake for the worst new idea in the sequel. However, knowing Bay, he will probably come up with something equally as ridiculous and juvenile in the third movie.

has anyone mentioned the terrible "masterbating" scene from the first film, one of the worst scenes in cinematic history and yet more proof Sam's mother should not be in the next film, unless she is on medication and doesn't say a word.

great more pointless nonsense to ruin the moment

yeah well it will probably be in the film and it will probably gross 900 mil

So all of a sudden he's the new it director. I mean I like the guys 2 films i seen of his. But they both under performed. Even bays biggest bomb made more then his (Vaughn) two commercial films.

But a year from now or so when the new X-Men film isn't to the fanboys liking they will call him a bad director. You don't think it'll happen just wait.

This is just like everyone saying Chris Nolan should do everything. Its just a fandom moment, until another IT director of the moment comes along.

If I was locked in my room, all hot and sweaty and acting defensive my mum would've asked the same thing.
