Iron Man 2 The Official Whiplash Thread

She still looks good.
Not like a lot of her peers with they face allcut on & injected.

I think she looks damn good. :)

Kinda silly though, with her hair in her face trying to recreate that earlier photo.

Why mix Whiplash and Crimson Dynamo, why not just have him be one or the other?

because this is what they do: they mix 2, 3, 10 characters together..

He'll be Whiplash, but his character also includes elements of Crimson Dynamo.

Did I miss when they confirmed this? (anyone have a link to such a confirmation?) Because all I remember is some articles saying he's Whiplash and then others contradicting that and saying he's Crimson Dynamo.

There's a quote by Downey where he says "Some approximation of the two"

There isn't an iconic bearer of the Crimson Dynamo armor. There's over a dozen pilots most of whom have died horrible deaths from the armor over-loading.

So using Whiplash, a more defined Iron Man foe who is based around using whips, seems like a good match.

Here's a story from Empire that confirms it, and also talks about the money issues before Rourke signed on.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the character that'll use Wiplash's armor (Ivan) is made up for the movie, isn't he?

Could be. Or it could be a re-imagining of someone like Ivan Petrovich. We'll just have to wait and see, I guess.

Either way it wouldn't really bother me, as there isn't a single iconic character who held the name "Crimson Dynamo" or "Whiplash" like there are with characters like Mandarin, Iron Monger, or Madame Masque. There've been a dozen Crimson Dynamos and a couple of Whiplashes. Heck, if it is a new character, I wouldn't be surprised if Marvel added him to the comics around the time of the movie's release.

Agreed.

Right now, all that we know is that he'll be a bald and tatued russian arms dealer called Ivan who spend some time in prision.

He won't be bald. He'll have black hair streaked with white

Personally, I kinda wish that they were just using the Crimson Dynamo or Titanium Man if they wanted a Russian villain. I still have my doubts about merging the Dynamo with Whiplash.

But I have faith in Favreau to make it work.

I have to ask, have you ever actually read a comic featuring Crimson Dynamo or Titanium Man?

Crimson Dynamo was going to be the first movie's villain, before Iron Monger came into play.

I think Iron Man getting owned by a whip is pretty funny.

Yep; quite a few actually. So I consider myself pretty familiar with both, and that, particularly with the CD, that many guys have used both aliases.

I probably should've worded my post better but basically I was trying to say that I'm just not that crazy about making Whiplash the Russian armored equivalent of Iron Man.
