Iron Man 2 The Official Whiplash Thread

Shia La Crap got only $500,000 for Transformers. RDJ probably got something similar for IM1. Shia's making $5M for TF2 and RDJ is probably doing like-wise for IM2. Roarke & ScarJo weren't in on the success of the first film. They haven't earned their way up in this franchise. To expect them to get paid enormous $ right off the bat is unrealistic. Now Roarke's character will likely not survive to be in sequels(he'll still get the side benefit of exposure the likes of which he has never had in his life) but you're right ScarJo's price will go up after IM2. And that makes sense.

Either her price will go up if she gives a good performance or she can be Terrenced

Or perhaps Marvel has tightened their contracts up a tad now that they're a little more used to the Hollywood game

Well she's in a lot worse position that Howard ever was. We already know exactly who'll they'll be going for to replace her if she doesn't work out, now don't we?:cwink:

I thought RDJ made like 3 million for IM? Now he is making like 10-12 million if not more, plus percentages. Terrance's salary was ridiculous obviously. Marvel basically played cat and mouse with some of these actors though. Eventually they will undervalue someone and get burned. I don't think Howard will be that case, but somewhere down the line I can see people losing interest in a character or franchise because of a recast. Norton could be that guy, although I don't think money will be the overriding factor at least for that case.

I don't think he made 3M from IM1. Howard made about that much, though from what I heard.

I think that was a tricky situation, because Marvel actually got Howard to sign first which ended up securing him a bigger salary than RDJ simply because he was offered more money before anyone else and likely before Marvel realized the real scope of the film.

In any case, short changing someone like Mickey Rourke for $250,000 for a movie like this that will make Marvel stupid rich(er) is a bad move, and I'm glad he's at least getting paid $400,000 if that's true. Can't let studios take advantage of artists!

I hope Mickey Rourke brings IM2 to another level, kind of like what Heath did with TDK.

Nor vice-versa. And I'd say directors are just as much artists as the actors, if not more so. So here's an example - Michael Bay made 150 times as much as Shia La Beauf did on TF. He made 75 million bucks. That is taking advantage of a studio if ever I heard of it. A balance has to be found and that's tricky with all parties being greedy.

I agree, I hope for something like that as well.

I know sometimes studios get screwed, but for the most part it's the other way around. I disagree about Michael Bay. The guy is known for making films that deliver (most of the time), and with a franchise like Transformers that made hundreds of millions of dollars and will continue to do so I think Bay deserves a hefty cut. Sure, $75 mil seems insanely high, but you also have to remember that Bay was smart enough to get a merchandising deal too, so he made a boatload off of that.

I think if you've got the talent and something producers want, you should get paid well. Maybe not $75 million well, but still. Especially with movies like Transformers or Iron Man that are guaranteed to make a massive return anyway.

So, has any body else noticed that either by chance or by design, that they turned Crimson Dynamo/Whiplash hybrid pretty much into Omega Red from Wolverine? He's a Russian criminal with long hair and wrist mounted whips. The similarities may only be superifcial, but I thought it was kinda funny.

^Sorta, but he won't have super-powers or be a mutant.

I know. I'm just saying if anyone out there ever wanted to see Omega Red in a live actionfilm, go see IM2. That's as close as you're gonna get for a while at least.

Probably means his last day of shooting during principle photography. He'll still have months of work left to do with mo-cap and such. RDJ had all that to do as well last time around and will likely also do it again this time. Unless they found an easier way to get it done, which would be great news if true. I'm sure the actors who wear mo-cap armor would rather not have to do months more of work after the principle photography. All the rest of the cast basically gets to split until the promotion starts(March or April).

I doubt Rourke will do the mocap. He has at least a dozen projects lined up

Yeah, you may be right. Depends on how it all plays out, which we are still very much in the dark about.

Guys, you need to stop getting so worked up and concerned about what these people are getting paid. The only ones who should be concerned are the actors. And if they don't like the pay, they shouldn't have taken the role.

I'm assuming all of you have forgotten the career lows of people like Downey and Rourke?

ILM is using I-mocap on set. so then the actors wears the suit. but they also use mo-cap after filming is done but with stunt doubles.
i think the reason RDJ came back in 2007 was because they added scenes to the movie.

I think this overemphasis on Rourkes role is a classic case of disdirection on Favreau's part.
The real villain of this movie is going to be the one we're not hearing anything about... Sam Rockwell's Justin Hammer.

Whiplash, i think, is just gonna be a glorified henchman.

Or.. maybe Rourke will the action and Rockwell the talk

Yeah, but i still think his role is gonna be that of the secondary villain. I don't think Hammer's gonna just talk in this movie.

I know they did add some scenes but at SDCC07 they said that even while principle photography had been finished Robert still had several months left(almost up until a month or so from general release) of mo-cap work to do in post production.

Hmm.. muscle and brain sound better.
Rourke will the muscle and Rockwell the brain
That's better.

I don't think Hammer will do (any) action. I just don't see Rockwell doing it :o

I think he'll suprise us all. I just have a feeling that there's something they're not telling us about this movie... Don't know why.
