Yea I imagine he would be cold and calculating. Extremely focused on what he wants. Yet ready to go nuts at the drop of a hat.

I think he's perfectly sane, to be honest. From what I remember, his dad was a brilliant scientist or something. I think Ivan is the "Russian Tony Stark", to be honest. He's just out for revenge.

Hmm, I think they'll add some extra layers to the character beyond that. I mean, badass and scientist don't usually go together. I dunno, maybe I'm rambling.

I still think that they heavily based Ivan Vanko of the third Crimson Dyanmo in the comics. They're stories are just too similar to be a coincidence, IMO.

I'm sure that there will be more to it. But i see this moving roughly along Spiderman 2 lines in terms of ploting. Haven't heard much bout Rockwell's Hammer, but per that interview, he would seem to facilitate Rourke in his revenge quest. Like Harry and Dr. Octavious. Whiplash is the villian, and hell need cash, I see that as a link to the characters. Stark does have his issues with the Congress too as a secondary.

I hope Whiplash lives to part 3

Yea, It can make for a cool prison break. I didn't agree w/ Stane getting mashed up in the Monger suit either, but maybe he can come back all sewn back together. Bridges was such a good Obie. Hammer at least I hope lives to work with the Mandarian. Not even got to part 2 and thinkin part 3 already.

They could depict a scene with Ironmonger getting blasted aside by the reactor expolosion, landing face down... thereby shielding OB from total destruction. He could be incarcerated by SHIELD, since they never confirmed his death (just gave Tony a index card with a story to tell the press - which he didn't read).

If he is to be dead... they could have Ezekiel going through his dad's affairs, and find all kinds of cool stuff in his computer at home, including information to a secret warehouse were he kept some pet projects.

Not even got to part 2 and thinkin part 3 already.

We are just hungry for more...

Even in the comics, Stane never made it out of the battle with Tony, (although, he repulsor rayed his own brains out). And Abomination did get carted of to the Vault or what ever the supervillain Gitmo is called in the movieverse. They just didn't show it. Also from what we know so far, Vanko starts out in Gulag, so there may yet be a prison break in IM2.

You're right, the 10 rings, but I don't know if they're any relation.

Maybe...but most likely it is a prison tatoo like the ones Viggo has in Eastern Promises. I suppose it could be an association with the Circle of the Ten Rings.

I don't think we've discussed much about what we can speculate about what kind of villain Whiplash is going to be, charactization-wise. Based on the leaked SDCC footage I think he'll be more along the lines of Anton Chigurgh than something like Ledger's Joker. Any thoughts? Agree? Disagree?

Anton Chigurgh? I hope Whiplash doesn't buy a shirt and walk off at the end of the film after Tony Stark is killed and Rhodey sits down and gives up. God, I hated NCFOM. To me, this two minute trailer is already better entertainment than that film.

I'm sure Favs will piece together the villains perfectly. Despite the spectacle, I've very confident that characterization won't be lacking. I expect Whiplash to be complex, menacing but torn by deep loss. Thus, landing him in the psychotic but sympathetic range. In other words, a classic Marvel villain. Shades of gray and no mustache twirling or hand wringing.

I can't believe Rourke almost didn't do it. I can't even start to imagine someone else in the role. I hope he rocks and takes the movie to another level like I think he will.
