Iron Man 2 The Official Whiplash Thread

Suppose that i should be the first to say this.

Whiplash as a villain is okay bordering on underwhelming.
It's not Rourke's fault because he definately giving a good performance. Just that his scenes are too few and especially his final battle is just disappointing.
THe suit as seen in the pic above is how it appears in the movie , it's just that his scenes in the suit dueling Iron Man and Rhodey is probably a minute long.
If you anyone thought that the fight between Iron Man and Iron Monger was short , brace yourself for Whiplash and Iron Man. It's shorter.

This is my fan made Stark Indutries (co

ncept-art) album.

Does anyone know if Whippy is killed in this? (apologies if this has already been answered, I'm playing catch up)...
Saw the show yesterday. I like the mark 2 Whippy silver suit. He was badly injures in the final battle with Iron man and War Machine, but it never show he was kill. The Drone were all blown up.
:woot:

Spoiler about his death.

Whiplash gets defeated and then his armours reactor and all the drones reactors begin to beep. 'You lose' says Vanko and then they fly off. The drones explode and it can only be assumed that his suit does to. Even if it didn't explode he still would have died from the surrounding drone blasts.
It's implied he is dead but not confirmed.

How powerful is his suit? If war machine wasint there to help iron man

pretty powerfull I guess. I thought that if they fought him separately they would have been killed. And even the two of them had a pretty hard time against him. And if you want to know how he is defeated, it's with
a double repulsor blast. Vanko has Iron Man with one whip and War Machine wiht another. Stark asks Rhodey to start shooting a repulsor blast in his direction while Stark does the same, the two blast merge and a cause a big explosion. Like Ghostbusters, theyx had to cross the streams :)

Couldn't they of came up with a cool design for the whiplash armor, cause it sucks

^ I'm not liking the trend of the villain being in a giant metal suit. At least get some color; hell, those drones had more color than Whiplash and Iron Monger.

If they do Ghost & Mandarin next as many hope will happen then fears of more pure amored bad guys being redundant will be laid to rest. Those two are very different from what we've seen before.

Whiplash's armor was just a hunk of metal, but it really kicked ass! The design didnt matter anyway because the fight was over in less than a minute.

That said, why the hell did [BLACKOUT]he keep opening his helmet? And then he didnt close it when IM and WM did that combined repulsor thing and yet he still had a face afterwards.

Oh yeah, he was about to die and he said "you lose Stark". Dude... YOU LOST!!![/BLACKOUT]

^LOL and we thought Tony had ego.

I do hope that the "giant metal man villain" gimmick does get put to rest after this film. Although, if Justin Hammer shows up in the Avengers, it may not.

An idea I have for an Iron Man 3 is that since Tony Stark starts to realize that there may be in fact others that are aware of the arc reactor's power, even if Stark created a new power source, there still can be some foes out there just like Ivan Vanko, and he actually begins to become paranoid over that fact, and then trying to out-do his older inventions with newer ideas(like out-doing his father's huge arc reactor, new inventive weapons, et cetera) and during this time, he becomes afraid that people will indeed blame such villains towards Stark Enterprises, and other companies will try to buy them out as well; and then during this time Mandarin sends out Ghost, in a modified armor suit, BUT not huge and bulky. A suit that fits a normal-sized man, but can also turn invisible for him, where he uses that power to further send Tony into a chaos mode.

Stark realizes who's to blame, fights Ghost and Ghost then leads him to where Mandarin is, and the headquarters of Ten Rings itself, where Stark and Rhodes heads there to defeat Stark's very first foes, the Ten Rings terrorist cell. Mandarin doesn't need to have alien technology or anything like that, just a mastermind with ten gems as his rings of course.

If you want to bring in a magical element, you could have Mandarin be shown as a God to the eyes of the Ten Rings, but with a dragon for a pet(Fin Fang Foom), just because with my idea, there wouldn't be much SFX to use without a dragon. And FFF doesn't need a story of where he's from; that can stay a mystery and a "Holy ****" moment with Iron Man and War Machine having to deal with a dragon.

i like that idea, though maybe he has gauntlets based on stark tech, bu much more advanced

They introduced Thor, god of thunder in IM2.

I would like to see them introduce Mandarin, the man with magic rings.

Well... whips were used here... but were less than impressive FOR ME... so...

Hope Magic Rings will create more exciting action... :cwink:

I agree. They need to find new villains who arent just people in amours with a light on their chest. Something else, anything else!

My biggest complaint with the movie is that there isn't enough Vanko. The way Mickey plays him is so great, real quiet but you know he'd kill in the blink of an eye if he wanted. In a movie where all these characters are so loud and flamboyant it's nice to see Mickey have a this great and restrained performance. I couldn't take my eyes off of him everytime he was on screen.

ahh i knew they would under use him. Why would they do that? he's such a great actor. Even in a cameo performance he is brilliant and his scenes stand out. Like this scene for example.

i think that whiplash meant
he had the self destruct thing on and stark was about to get owned...

i honestly felt he was as well used as the joker in the dark knight :)

he may not have had the most screen time, but keep in mind there are alot of main characters.

i think mickey was used perfectly, imo just like the joker was.. he was basically a force of nature weaving in and out of the movie :D
