Iron Man 2 The Official Whiplash Thread

Yea i understand that. But i still believe a Russian accent is easier to pull of than a lot of others.

Both Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell, if cast, will lend considerable weight in an ensemble that contains several Oscar winners and nominees. I think it's obviously tough to compete against TDK, but if they have a strong script and great actors, IM2 will likely turn out to be an excellent followup of Iron Man.

Btw, that Natasha character is probably Black Widow, from the look of it.

Hi i don't read Marvel comics and the only thing i know about Iron Man is from the movie i saw, but i read abit about Crimsom Dynamo and was kinda disappointed. =/ Is anyone here also not happy that the antagonist is going to be Russian? Why can't it be some evil american guy but nooo it has to be America vs. Russia for Stark Indrusty's "justice" lol. :P

Then don't watch the movie.

Stark is an industrialist, in the comics a number of his enemies happen to be competitors from you guessed it...other countries.

As for the evil american guy you mention. You just admitted to watching the first Iron Man...does the name Obediah Stane ring any bells.

Yeah but Obediah Stane was part of Stark corp, i read about Justin Hammer and he seems interesting tho, but hes not some robot-guy or anything.

I'm not saying i won't watch the movie but i just find it abit, perhaps cliché?

EDIT: And also by the whole american villain is that now that Iron Man is well known and most likely American goverment approven, an inner corruption would be much cooler in my eyes.

They already did inner corruption. Stark Industries was selling to terrorists behind Tonys back and Stane stole his plans and tried to make a better suit.

Point taken, guess i'm just nitpicking and worried Iron Man 2 turns out into America vs. Russia "justice" fight.

And we might see more of that inner corruption, as perhaps some of Stark's designs are pilfered for the IM armor or for the Arc-reactor (spies and what-not). This does not preclude a Russian merc from operating a newly created Armor suit from say... Justin Hammer's scientists / engineers.

sorry new on the iron man board but
i heard he play Crimson Dynamo but on imdb he is listed as Whiplash??
anyone know about this

IMDB is guessing. Click on Whiplash and it takes you to Blacklash. They also have Rockwell and Robbins as "rumored." I wouldn't believe any of it too much until there is an official release.

Like Favreau said a long time ago, something to the effect of Iron Man is a going to be fighting terrorists, he's not going to be fighting thugs in central park.

This time it's going to be Russians. Plus with the conflict in Georgia, this makes perfect sense.

^ That's right, Tony will turn the gas on for Europe. Go get'em Tony.

I could see someone like SpyMaster fitting in easily with that kind of scenario.

They have SLJ & Robbins listed as "rumored" not Rockwell & Robbins.

Mickey Rourke will be on Jay Leno tonight. I doubt he will say anything about IM2, but there's always that possibility. Check it out.

I just turned it on. I missed the first segment, but he's coming back. I'll see if he says anything. :ninja:

This is exactly what I was thinking... I would like to see a group of Hammer's techy bad-guys... like Spymaster, Mach1 (instead of Beetle) and Blacklash... These guys would be part of a sub-plot, where people are trying to emulate IM, with techy weapons and gear. It would culminate with CD. There would also have tobe some dialogue with Hammer, that foreshadows The Mandarin's involvement behind the scenes...

Iron Man has alot of Industrial sabotage villians, Spymaster, Ghost to name a couple and with the addition of Justin Hammer, the door is now open to those villians as well as Blacklash, Boomerang, Blizzard and the like.
One also needs to know, if you don't follow Iron Man, several of his villians are Russian, due to his history of fighting communism, characters like Titanium Man, Unicorn, Blackwidow & Crimson Dynamo are all Russian, so while it looks like on paper it's the US vs Russia, that is just part of his history, not a current subplot, it would be easy to make all these guys American or other nationality, but as a Iron Man fan, I want them to remain true to their roots and remain Russian.

Yeah i'd love to see Iron Man attack Russia due to Georgia while Georgian rebels started it and Russia just gave them the finger for fightning in their country. =D Would be a perfect George W. BUsh moment!

Anyhow thanks alot of the replies, makes me have a more open and optimistic view on Crimson Dynamo. :o)

Rourke is really playing it smart.
start with a low budget movie and get a golden globe and an oscar nomination. then play in a summer movie and get a big paycheck.
