Iron Man 2 The Official Whiplash Thread

Im not so upset they going with an armored villain. It just adds to Starks characterization. He now hows to deal with the fact that the technology he created to help people is now ending up in the hands of bad people and the results of that. Not to mention dealing with the fact everyone knows who he is.

^ I would agree with that.

As would I. I definately like that theme.

I've just posted something similiar here:-

You make a great point. I forgot that everyone knows who he is. :woot:

Damn, Stark is gonna be in for some serious *****.

I still loved the ending. Brilliant. Stark just thinks, "Screw the cliched no one can no my secret identity, I'm Tony Stark godammit!"

I can just imagine Stark sitting in his chair ala TDK and saying to Jarvis because Pepper died, "Did I bring this on her?"

"How so?"

"I freaking told everyone my secret identity!"

^ I don't know about Pepper dying, but I imagine we'll see Pepper get closer to Happy. Stark will be depressed by this, and take comfort in the arms of his hot new secretary, Natasha (who will, of course, stab him square in the back)

And instead of him moping in a chair, I imagine it'll look something like this...

Seriously, whether it's in IM2 or IM3, we had better see that image on film. It's sort of the iconic Iron Man shot.

Reminds me of our M.O.D.O.K. discussion from a while back, eh Rich?

That was fun.

Still havent changed my viewpoint; seeing M.O.D.O.K. on screen would be awesomly geeky in a wonderous way.

By the way, is it a coincidence that the face in that pic ^^^^ actually looks alot like what Rourke looks like now? :woot:

BINGO!!! I couldn't remember who that conversation was with... And, as you can see, your suggestion back then has gone a long way toward convincing me that MODOK could work (I am a believer). However, I still think that it is way creepy, and something that needs to be brought in after a few movies... for like A2, after AIM has been introduced. We have had some time to see more conventional villains before there is a move to show MODOK (he would be quite a jump in villain-hood)... But bring him on... :woot:

Absolutely.

Personally, I dont really care what movie he's in - just as long as I get to see him cinematically at some point.

In terms of MODOK being too dark for IM2; I'm not so sure. 2nd films in a franchise have a tendency to be darker than their predecessors (IM2 will be no exception if the 'Demon in a Bottle' storyline is used) so I think he'd fit tonally, should they decide use him.

But as I said, if it's the 3rd, 4th or gazzillionth movie - It's no biggie. Just as long as I get to see his inclusion at some point.

Same with A.I.M - It would be great to see A.I.M. in a Marvel movie somewheres. Imagine it, a Marvel movie with S.H.E.I.L.D. and A.I.M. in their full glory.

Awesome. :D

^I wouldn't mind see in Hydra in a movie as well. Mmmmmmm, Madame Hydra and/or Viper in skimpy, hot, dark green latex. And weilding a machete, no less. ;)

Awesome. :D

I am hoping that it happens in Avengers... linked to the Red Skull, using the cosmic cube. Then after Skull is defeated of course, AIM begins the project to create MODOK (for A2).

LOL... oh man. So... you wouldn't be one of those guys in the pic, would you???

Lolz;

Nope - it just came up when I did a search on Google images for 'Advanced Idea Mechanics';

Amusing, no?

good... I wanted to throw a dig at those guys, but I didn't want to slam a fellow SHH'er... especially one as upstanding as yourself. :woot:

It is a classic photo, they even have the cube.

Nah, I didn't mean it like I think Pepper will die, I just tried to make fun of Stark revealing his secret identity. :woot:

Lolz; fair enough, although I think a fair few would disagree with that last part. :yay:

It is awesome, isnt it?

The guys look like theyre having a blast.

Consider... Ironmonger showed up in the last 15-minutes, or so, of the movie... and they had a fight scene that was more a ham-handed mauling, than any kind of dynamic, hi-tech clash. That fight scene did not consume the breadth of combat sequences thet IM can have with another armored baddie. I really think this hand-wringing over "another armored villain" is misplaced.

I pretty much agree agree with this. A fully powered Iron Man would've easily held his own against the Iron Monger. As long as that is the case in IM2, they will be able to do more dynamic fight scenes between Stark and the CD.

For anyone who has ever watched Firefox;

Imagine a showdown in IM2 between Iron-Man and Crimson Dynamo similiar to the showdown between Firefox 1 and 2; only made with modern special effects.

That would be something.

AND imagine it was storyboarded by Genndy Tartakovsky.

Firefox is a magnificent comparison... and :up::up: on Genndy Tartakovsky.

I think getting Gendy is one of the great creative coups for this movie. I think it will be like how they got Alex Ross for Spider-man 2.

Sam Rockwell Planning ‘Iron Man 2’ Movie Homework For Justin Hammer Role

by Rick Marshall

Lest you think comics haven’t entered the conversation at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, the MTV Movies crew tracked down recently announced “Iron Man 2″ actor Sam Rockwell (who’s bringing several films of his own to the festival) to find out how he’s preparing for his role as Tony Stark’s rival, Justin Hammer.
“There’s not much I can tell you,” Rockwell told MTV, adding that he’s still waiting for a script. The actor indicated that a script will be especially important for his prep work, since he isn’t too familiar with the character.
“I just found out that he’s actually a character in the comics,” admitted Rockwell. “I didn’t realize that.”
When MTV asked Rockwell whether Hammer’s age in the film will match the older, white-haired Hammer of the comics, the actor said he wasn’t sure how the age difference would be handled — or that there even was one.
“Is he an older guy?” asked Rockwell. “I need to research this.”

^ wow... now I feel so good about how they are selecting actors. Rockwell is great, but if he signed, and they signed him... without him even knowing the context of the character, and no script... wtf?!?!?!!

Really... It is almost like he would take anything, regardless.

Why would Rockwell even need to think about it?

Think about from his spot. You get offered a role in the sequel to one of the past year's biggest blockbusters, directed by a friend you trust and have worked with before, and get to work along side a talented, award-winning cast.

What's to lose?

Yea, I dont see a downside.

Has he worked with Favreau before?
