Iron Man 2 The Official Whiplash Thread

that would work great....................in anime

Downey talks about Rourke here.

Here's the stuff that is said about Iron Man 2:
Interviewer: Iron Man 2. Start shooting Monday?
RDJ: Yes. Monday
Interviewer: You've got the body for it, already
RDJ: Thank you
Interviewer: Mickey Rourke is gonna be a villain in the movie
RDJ: Mickey Rourke's got the body for it
Interviewer: Yeah
RDJ: Yeah. Yes, he will be my nemesis. I'm very excited. We're gonna really try something a little different with the storyline and obviously really flesh out the bad guy character
Interviewer: How so? How different?
RDJ: Just because, usually in a superhero movie it's this kind of two dimensional thing, and if you have Mickey Rourke you might as well make it more interesting and cerebral and visceral and I think that we will play very well off of each other
Interviewer: Scarlett Johansson, did you give her any tips on getting in shape? She's got to get in shape too
RDJ: I didn't need to give her any tips. She is in rocking shape
Interviewer: Is she? Already going in, huh
RDJ: She is

There's a few snippets in here
HOUSTON -- Mickey Rourke loves wrestling, but he is putting Hollywood first.

The actor brought a slice of Hollywood to Texas on Sunday as he -- and later "Pussycat Dolls" lead singer Nicole Scherzinger -- talked to reporters at Reliant Stadium ahead of WWE's annual pay-per-view extravaganza "WrestleMania 25."

Rourke addressed talk several weeks ago that he may get involved at "WrestleMania" in a wrestling role instead of a support role.

"My agents said it would be detrimental to my career" to take the focus off of acting after making a comeback in "The Wrestler," he told reporters, which included local TV stations and international wrestling media. Also, "I'm doing 'Iron Man 2' now, and the insurance company said under no circumstances could I get into the ring," he added.

Rourke was in town to take a seat Sunday night at the anniversary edition of the mother of all wrestling pay-per-views in support of wrestling legends Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. With "Nature Boy" Ric Flair in their corner, the legends took on Chris Jericho, who has bad-mouthed them and Rourke's character in "The Wrestler" on WWE TV shows in recent weeks.

After training hard and getting hurt a lot, "I started really enjoying it," Rourke said about wrestling. "I gained the respect for a sport I knew nothing about."

Asked by one reporter if he would have loved to become a wrestler in retrospect, Rourke said: "Oh, God, yes."

Rourke, flanked at the press conference by Flair and Steamboat, said WWE and its stars had supported "The Wrestler" so much that he wanted to show support for the wrestlers at "Mania" as well.

"I'm very honored," he said. "I was out of the movie business for 15 years. The wrestling movie has given my career a boost."

Meanwhile, Flair called Rourke "one of us" and said his portrayal of a wrestler was an inspiration. "He makes us look really good," he said.

Rourke quipped that after gaining weight for "The Wrestler," he is still working on his weight. "I'm still trying to get in shape for 'Iron Man 2,' " he said.

Article about the event:

Mickey Rourke Comes Correct
by Mike Krumboltz April 6, 2009

Just because he's an Oscar-nominated actor doesn't mean Mickey Rourke is afraid of a good fight. True, the tussle was staged, but the Mickster's battle with WWE grappler Chris Jericho stirred up the Search box and sent the Buzz into a tizzy.

For those of you who don't follow the never ending soap opera that is professional wrestling, here's a brief recap: Several months ago, Mr. Rourke, who played pro wrestler Randy 'The Ram' Robinson in "The Wrestler," challenged Jericho to a match. Jericho accepted and then, seemingly, Rourke had second thoughts. Apparently, that was a ruse. Last night, Mr. Rourke got into the ring with Jericho, but instead of wrestling his singlet-clad rival, he boxed.

Here's how it went down. Jericho had just beaten old time legends Jimmy Snuka, Rickey "The Dragon" Steamboat, and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, when Mickey, who was sitting ringside, answered Jericho's challenge and climbed into the ring. The Mick calmly removed his cowboy hat and "knocked out" the pro grappler with a left hook, much to the crowd's delight.

Jericho was the winner over Piper and company, but all anybody seems to care about was that Rourke dropped Jericho like a bad agent. Queries on "mickey rourke wrestlemania" and "mickey rourke chris jericho" both posted huge gains. The battle also inspired plenty of articles and blogs. NJ.com offers a nice recap of the event and Yahoo's omg gives a 4 star play-by-play of the battle.

Now that Rourke has taken Jericho down a notch in the ring, perhaps Jericho will challenge Rourke on "The Actor's Studio." Winner gets to body slam James Lipton.

okay so i think i have this whole thing figured out. Rourke starts off as Whiplash gets defeated by iron man then goes to justin hammer for help. Hammer stole the secrets behind starks armor and sells those secrets to Rourke who uses them to create the Crimson Dynamo armor.

So this whole time we thought we were getting the DIAB storyline but instead we are getting Armor Wars

Why does it seem like every male character has a goatee? RDJ, SLJ, now Rourke. I bet Cheadle and Rockwell grew goatees, too :funny:

That would be cool.

that would work out really cool.

According to Favreau today was Rourke's first day

Cool, hopefully we'll see some pics soon.

Among the castings Im only really pleased for the sequel along with Gary Oldman. I finally saw the Wrestler and Im really so taken by the performance by Rourke. Liked the scene with his daughter played by Evan Rachel Wood.
He should have won the Oscar not Sean Penn but as I usually like to say politics trumps talents in the Academy.

Not excited about the Rockwell casting? Perhaps THE most underrated talent in all of Hollywood?
