Iron Man 2 The Official Whiplash Thread

I love how the whips are used. (That sounds wrong. lol)

Just the electricity or what-be-it, going through them when he snaps them on the course, just makes him seem like a badass. It was that simple to make a villain that could come off as silly, and turn him in a threat. Plus it never hurts to have Mickey Rouke to play a badass character.

Ok now lets place some bets. The first Iron Man took a B-lister and made him an A-lister. In the comics, Whiplash at best is a C-lister villain but after this movie what do you think the odds are that he could jump a notch or two?

No doubt there will be a Whiplash storyline down the road. Marvel knows better then anyone to bank off marketability.

but here, they combined Crimson Dynamo's character too. Unless they introduce THIS version of Whiplach into the comics, which is possible.

Think about it: Scarecrow in Batman Begins benefited the character in the comics. Now Scarecrow always makes an appearance now these days.

I must confess I've never read Batman comics. How close did Scarecrow's portrayal get to the source material?

He's more over the top in the comics but they use him more now then they did prior to Batman Begins. Which is a plus since he's a great character.

Yea in the comics Scarecrow has a penchant for nursery rhymes.

And Vanko's Whiplash suit looks like it has taken some inspiration from the bondage suit Whiplash wore in the comics for a while.

Rourke looks so ****ing nails walking down the race track slashing those whips about. Bad ****ing ass.

Yeah, I'd say they'd do that. There has already been more than one Whiplash in the comics, I think. They could actually introduce Ivan Vanko as son of the original Crimson Dynamo, looking for revenge on Tony Stark. He could even follow the design of movie Whiplash, down to looking like Mickey Rourke.

They did Ezekiel Stane. They'd probably have an even greater incentive to do Ivan Vanko.

Holy ****, when Rourke was working those whips.

The whole footage just made me yell "DAMN!"

oh noes, whining ahead --> I still think they show too much Whiplash :o they should've shown some whips / flash / fade-to-black

Not that I didn't love that stuff -- I'm already using that bit as an avatar (in other site, of course)

Just check a few pages back -or the other thread- and you'll get all the lines

what is he talking in the comic con trailer?

Something about Stark's family being filled with thieves and butchers, and now there's blood in the water and the sharks will come. At least, this is what I've read; I couldn't understand anything of the bootleg footage.

"You come from a family of thieves and butchers and now, like all guilty men, you try to rewrite your own history. *Impossible to understand*. For soon there will be blood in the water. And the sharks will come."
