Iron Man 2 The Official Whiplash Thread

Rourke was good, but he didn't have a lot to do at all. Not that I expect him to be robbing banks or menacing the general public, but they didn't really know what to do with him after the Monaco fight.

Tony couldn't beat Whiplash v2 by himself...... Vanko was a great villian... I'm saddened he didn't survive :(

He could have if he hadnt used his wrist lasers already. Or he could take the fight airborne where i assume that he could outmaneuvre Whiplash and win.

V2 of Vanko was visually amazing, too bad it was such a short fight because it could have been a lot better.

His little scream at the beginning is really really bad. I laughed both times I saw the movie at that part, it's almost cringe inducing bad.

I'll tell you the same thing I told my buddy.

Say what you will about the yell, him laughing maniacally screaming "EWE LEWSE!" was even more chilling than him using the whips.

Rourke was amazing in this movie... I was surprised how well he did with the limited time he had

Odd, I thought it was just fine...:o

So I heard Rourke bought that bird using his own money for the film.

I wish we had more Whiplash in the final battle, but I suppose Whiplash would've had the upper hand surely if War Machine wasn't around.

And someone made a post suggesting that Iron Man could've just flown around, but Whiplash grabbed him WHEN IM was in the sky, and dragged him back down.

Actually it's 2 minutes long and comes immediately after the drone fight with less than a minute break in between them. This kinda stuff just bugs me, sorry. People complain the end fight in IM1 is over too quickly as well even though it's actually quite a bit longer than the oh-so beloved SpideyVSOck train fight. And the end fight with the Joker in TDK also is only about a minute long yet people don't complain about that, oh no. Also the final fight with Ock in SM2 is very, very short. Need I go on?
i dont think anyone cares how short it was, it was anti-climatic basically is what people are arguing
they fight for a minute then just kill him suddenly
the train fight was action the whole time and you had no idea who would come out
and the batman ending was fitting for joker, it made a ton of sense
i liked the ending to IM2 though, it was a decent fight
when early reviews were saying the fight was cheesy ending, i fully expected whiplash to be around some power lines and get tangled in them and get over loaded and die, it was way better than that

I wouldn't call it anti-climatic and I would definitely not call it cheesy.

Pretty much the entire battle was Ivan Vanko vs Iron Man. He was controlling all (40?) drones plus War Machine, and then made the fight even more personal by fighting Iron Man himself. Sure, it didn't have an "epic" ending, but there's a realization that you can do only so much when you're dealing with two heroes instead of one. There's much more of a struggle where it's one-on-one. For what we received, I have no complaints really. It was short just with Whiplash alone, but then again, Iron Man would have no chance without War Machine.

Yeah, it was short and boring. :funny:

Anyone have any pics. of the necklace he wore? Or the bracelets?

Tough bugger, being ran into by a Rolls multiple times without crapping out your guts, and fighting back, now thats impressive.

It's that Vodka that reinforced his guts.

If IM and WM had fought Whiplash to the streets, it would have been another Monger fight. So I'm glad they didnt waste anytime on fight scenes which the good guy will win anyway. They ended the fight in a smart manner :)

The Whiplash vs Iron Man/War Machine fight was anti-climactic. Compare it to the Iron Monger fight. While it was cool while it lasted, it was so short and brief, it takes away the cool factor of it. It lacked the drama the Iron Monger fight in IM had. If this fight had been longer and more dramatic, I think this film would easily have been better than IM1, rather than being about on par.

Rourke was great for the time he was in it, but I feel he needed a better end fight and more character development. As it stands, I enjoyed Hammer more as a villain than Vanko.

dancing villain :oldrazz:

All cool villains dance :hehe:

Final Whiplash looked to much like Iron Monger. I though Favrou didn't want Iron guys fighting Iron guys yet thats what we got. He should have put Whiplash in chainmail & changed the color. I wish all a long we had gotten the real Crimson Dynamo or Titaium man.

FYI.....Ivan didn't have an on screen death.

Just sayin'! :D :funny:

The part I disliked about the last fight, apart from its brevity, is how Vanko sort of blankly stared and waited while IM and WM organized between themselves.

He had them, and he paused long enough for them to exchange glances, talk and bust a move.

Thought they should definately have had more of Rourke in the movie, and he was criminally under-used in the final fight, he lasted about a minute before being defeated, final battle was a let down.

Villain 101:
Never get cocky and let your guard down. The battle with Vanko was definitely too short, but as an end to the whole sequence of fighting off the drones, it worked.

Rourke should have been utilized more in the movie.

I thought it worked because they were fighting Vanko the whole time, just not personally, face to face. He was controlling War Machine and the Drones and then, when they were all defeated, stepped up himself to face Tony and Rhodey personally.

And for just being a guy with whips, I thought he was used pretty well throughout the Movie.

^^ Exactly. People are forgetting that Iron Man was "battling" Ivan Vanko when he was controlling the drones and even War Machine. Just because Whiplash was only there at the end for one-two minutes, doesn't mean that's all Vanko's final battle consisted of.

As a whole, it was a very epic battle. Ivan Vanko was controlling like forty drones and War Machine to kill Tony, destroy the Expo and even kill off everyone at the sight, and when Tony was getting lucky with killing off the drones, Whiplash then came in and would've killed Tony without Rhodey's involvement. All in all, it was a great finale, imo. Whiplash had a short time in his Mark II armor, but he did destroy Tony's armor pretty good. So, let's look at the fact: Whiplash Mark I almost defeated Iron Man in his Mark V armor. And Whiplash Mark II almost defeated Iron Man in his Mark VI armor. The only way Iron Man won was with the help of War Machine with using the duel repulsor rays. If Iron Man did that plan himself, he would've died.
