» SDCC 08: Marvel Animation Storms Comic-Con

When Marvel and Lionsgate launched their slate of Direct-To-DVD/Blu-Ray feature films we set out to bring comic fans an animated experience unlike anything seen before from Marvel animation. By creating films for the small screen we are able to tell stories with more drama, romance, and action than Saturday morning series will allow while taking chances on characters and storylines often deemed too risky for larger scale theatrical releases.

In January 2009 two of the most famous battles in Marvel's comic book history are finally being brought to life in the sixth Marvel/Lionsgate Direct-to-DVD/Blu-Ray release "HULK VS." Here's a little info on the films included in this release

HULK VS THOR – It's gods versus monsters in this epic 45 minute movie! Never have we explored the explosive power of the Hulk like we have in this new film, every major character from the Marvel Thor universe is thrust into battle with this Green Goliath as he brings a new Ragnarok down upon the realm of gods.

HULK VS WOLVERINE- This dark, violent, smash and slash story was first told in issue 181 of THE INCREDIBLE HULK and the rematches have continued to thrill comic fans ever since. Now Marvel and Lionsgate takes the best of those famous comic book battles and merges them into one heart pounding 33-minute story.

We'll have more on Hulk VS Thor in the coming months but here's a brief description of Hulk VS Wolverine:

"ALBERTA, Canada. Over the past week, The INCREDIBLE HULK has been tearing a line across the Canadian wilderness, leaving a swathe of destruction in his wake. He has to be stopped, and there's only one man up to the job.

He's the best at what he does, but what he does isn't very nice.

He's WOLVERINE, an elite agent of Canada's top secret Department H, and he's been put on Hulk's trail with a single objective: stop the Green Goliath… at all costs.

Hulk and Wolverine are about to enter the fiercest battle of their lives. And they have no idea that there are a few unpleasant surprises waiting for them on the other side."

Most people will need to wait until January 2009 to see this film BUT you don't have too…

Come meet Supervising Producer/Co-Writer Craig Kyle, Producer/Supervising Director Frank Paur, Co-Writer Christopher Yost and others involved in this Marvel Animation Milestone and watch the complete "Hulk VS Wolverine" film before it's January 2009 Blu-ray and DVD release at the 2008 San Diego Comic Con.

The world premiere screening takes place on Thursday July 24th at 4:15PM in Hall H.

G4 had a live Hugh Jackman interview but no footage. It's great to see Hugh and the buzz start to build. I'm betting we don't see this footage at all. Comic Con exclusive... we'll just have to wait for the official trailer.

No one has it. It was shown at comic-con and no one has a leak of it...yet.

When is Wonder Con? Hugh said in the Rope of Silicon clip that they would be there.

Hugh Jackman showed us a Wolverine Clip!
Ranted: July 24, 08

The crowd is going nuts! We just saw an incredibly amazing Wolverine movie clip that is off the freakin wall! Gambit looks great! He had the exploding cards and his staff, we didn’t get to see much of Deadpool but he looked cool. Sabertooth and Wolverine really went at it! I really like the feel of the movie, it is hard a gritty much like the PG 13 Dark Knight looked really gritty because there is no way they will make Wolverine R. But like Hugh Jackman said it is going to kick ass! The movie is big and almost could be epic. I guess we’ll have to wait and see the final film. But I will tell you it looks pretty amazing.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa, who is playing Emma Frost?

God, I was disappointed that Scott was gonna be in this, now....Emma?

Oh yeah I forgot about that, which means Gambit is gonna be like ten years older than scott and like 15 years older than rogue. That's why I was pissed at this movie 3 months ago! GODDAMN IT!!! Comic Books aside though, this sounds good.

Well aside from the fact that I love Hugh, I really enjoyed this interview and hearing him talk about the character. You can really tell that he understands Wolverine, and he even said that he loves palying him. I love what he said about Wolverine having to fight with and against his human and animal sides. :)

PS. SOMEONE GET THAT FOOTAGE! Seriously, everyone is talking about it. What, no one with a camera recorded it??!!

G4 forgot to mention deadpool :(

so is there anybody that was actualy there that can tell us if he was in costume or not??

It's cool to see he's so charismatic up on the stage. Some (film) actors are so stiff. He seems to be having a really good time. I'm glad he's playing Logan. He seems to have a real passion for the character.

Emma is one of my favorite characters, but I'm wondering if people just got her confused with Lynn Collins as Silverfox? Maybe production made her literally look silver-like with white/silver hair? IDK...the SHH report mentioned nothing of Emma, but of Silverfox. I think it's just a matter of confusion, but who knows...
