Saying that I "Know it's wrong," certainly comes off as less polite than- "Eh, don't really like it, the movie should just focus on Superman, and who wants another origin anyway."

What if the next Superman film were to start with an established Superman who doesn't know his Kryptonian heritage yet. Supergirl arrvies in an updated telling of her original origin spiced up with elements from her re-introduction in SUperman/Batman a few years ago. Use Brainiac as the villain and adapt the recent Braniac story from Action Comics in which Supergirl tells Superman all about Brainiac and Krypton's destruction, thus allowing SUperman to learn about his heritage and origin as well as giving Supergirl an interesting back story.

This would combine a number of elements that it seems fans want- Brainiac, established Superman and a flashback origin, but also critical to the Brainiac story at hand. It might seem like a lot especially including Supergirl, but I think it would definitely something different that we haven't seen before in a film.

Hmmm, I can't say I'm altogether keen on this as a movie concept. I think we need a solid reintroduction of Superman himself, without adding Supergirl into the mix. In addition, the idea of Supergirl filling Superman in on his backstory has occurred already in Smallville.

I think I'd like the film to start on old Krypton, an exotic planet (before environmental disaster rendered it an icy/crystalline wasteland). An entity or two would be responsible for its destruction - enter Brainiac and maybe another being. The hurling of the island into space in SR would alert such beings to kryptonian material (and thus a remaining Kryptonian) existing on Earth.

Better spell it out, 'cos I don't.

I think he's saying that the title could be...misinterpreted, or ridiculed. I know my mind went to the gutter when I read it. Anyway, I'd rather not have Supergirl or any other superheroes help Superman in the next movie. Let Supes stand on his own.

I didn't know that, I don't watch Smallville.

Not a sequel to SR! No, no!

I understand that. I was just thinking of good Brainiac stories, and the most recent was great and it used Supergirl in an important role.

Objectively, it would probably be risky reintroducing Superman by throwing in another superhero so important to his mythology.

Now that that's out of the way, the idea itself is good. I'd be on board... you know, if I didn't despise Kara.

Hehe, it was just a wild thought at nearly 1am here in the UK, when i should have been in bed hours ago! It's very unlikely though; we are likely i think to get a non-sequel.

I really like the idea personally. Good thinking.

I think what Knight is referring to is the title, I thought you were posting about an adult video.

Have to admit that never even crossed my mind. I was trying to think of a better title but couldn't come up with anything that conveyed the right ideas. Besides everyone knows that the adult film spelling of 'coming' is spelled with a 'u.' and 2 'm's.'

Here, I'll let miss Dawes spell it out for you:

That was it. Can't believe you were so confused about it :whatever:

The idea itself is fine. I like the idea of Superman not knowing where he comes from. But I'm not fond of the idea of introducing Kara in the first movie in a new, revamped franchise. This could be a good idea for a sequel, though. His origins are a mistery in the first film and then in the sequel Kara shows up and explains everything. Brainiac shows up as well.

Agreed.

EDITED For Showy.

interesting idea, mego joe.

if anything, the next Superman movie REALLY needs to explore the alien/space heritage and mythos of Superman.

enough of just plain-old boring Lex......

yea i would love to see the more alien/space stuff of superman done on screen in live action form on the big screen. Yes i would love to have lex still be in new revamp movie if it does turn out to be a total reboot but this time i and i know others too would like to see rich power, corupt business lex luthor.

I was discussing a concpet vaguely similare to this a while ago.

Superman would arrive on earth as usual... but no magical technology to tell him who he is. He would grow up knowing only that the Kents found him in a rocket, nothing more than that.

the main conceptual aim of the movie would be to answer Superman's question: "who am I"

Later, TAS brainiac invades

The conclusion of the movie would be a cliffhanger, with superman entering the fortress for the first time to finally find out who he really is...

and forget supergirl, she's just a terrible idea IMO, she shouldn't be given any film until Superman is back up on his feet and established as a solid franchise.

i like the idea that the villain in the last part of the movie explains to him. like in the middle of the fight right? this would be dramatic and epic.

I'm for it if Geoff Johns writes it. Based on his latest work and the episode of Smallville he wrote, that guy could write anything for me. WB would make a wise move to have their own comic book writers on DC pen the actual movies.

i rather have a guy who writtes scripts for movies for years and knows how to do this and then give him 100 of comics and a comic writter as help.

yea that would be nice but would be nice to to have some of the big dc guys like johns,etc... as consualants on the film so the script writer can get different comics eras/info done more correctly/intune to comics/etc...

I have always thought it would be neat if Clark Kent became Superman BEFORE he knew his Kryptonian heritage.

I wouldn't mind this take. Both John Byrne's "Man of Steel" and "Lois and Clark" used this angle and it worked pretty well.

I'm also intrigued by the approach Geoff John's is using in his upcoming new Superman origin. Not a single issue takes place on Krypton and we experience the story through Clark's point of view.

That was also his Golden Age origin. He didn't find out he was Kryptonian for many years originally.
