hey ntcrawler, thankie.ntcrawler said:Flavie, the Gambit one is an excellent teaser! And the one you did with Jean is absolutely gorgeous! Once again you helped the fans feel vindicated! BTW, how did you extend her hair like that! I was trying to do something similar, change her appearance to her Phoenix look but keep her in uniform. What tools did you use?

To the hair, this was some kind of easy because of the darkness, but i usually do hair manips like this: (this is big) with the eyedropper, choose a quite dark shade from the hair, and then, using a medial size brush, make the shape of the hair you want. Now choose a lighter shade of the hair and with the brush in 1px size, make lots, lots of threads upon the shape you created (and a little upon the real hair too). Then change the brush mode to multiply 45% and make more threads until you get somtehing similar to hair, no need to be perfect. Then take the burn tool and work on the process of blending the fake hair with the normal one, you can use color dodge (mostly on the edges) to this too. If you think the hair is too fake, use some blur, but only until you stop noticing the threads, or the hair may get faker. If you want more, put the 1px brush to 20%/30% opacity and make some hair lines on the edges.
It all depends on the blending though, and the right amount of blur...![]()
i do that when i dont have the patience, my process takes LOTS of times, and not always its worth the time i take...the jean was easier coz its a dark pic.ntcrawler said:Ahh I see. So you actually draw the hair from scratch and blend it in with the rest of the hair. Whenever I use manips I tend to stick to the cloning brush and recreate more of something that's already there.
Yeah I noticed that. the fact that it's a darker pic does make it easier to hide the details. But I agree. Like forgery, good manips take time and patience, and good skills to look right. You did a fantastic job!flavio_lebeau said:i do that when i dont have the patience, my process takes LOTS of times, and not always its worth the time i take...the jean was easier coz its a dark pic.
