gotcha. you wanted more of a stark quality.
more of a focus on the character and title, then "look at how pretty!"

Yup!

Abstracts work well when you're working with low res pictures. They help disquise the quality and suspend the viewer's vision from seeing it's flaws. Most of the time, you have to be so mindful with using brushes.

Prime example below:

The only thing good in this wallpaper I created a long time ago was the logo and even that is iffy. Bad usage of textile, the lines around the arms of Logan are too thick and crappy. I really need to revision photo and clean it up. The usage of brush strokes kill this really pretty photograph. There should have been more focus on Logan than the mood which is rather depressing.

wow, I've been busy today. nothing great just some manip quickies...

These aren't that bad. I wasn't really fond of the Angel ones but you did a great job with what you had to work with. The original photos are just plain awful to work with.

The Storm ones are pretty good, you hazed the eyes instead just whitening them. I wonder how the lettering would look if you beveled them a bit? I love using 3-D for logos and names.

thank CQ,. yea, the original photos were hard to work with.

bevel em how? and the fonts are kinda 3D-ish, you gotta look closer.

btw, I really liked the Magneto wp you did. how did you do the metal effect on the fonts?

oh and what font did you use for the Wolverine one. I always wanted to do a Wolverine movie poster but I wanted to also have an 'x' in the 'w'. but i can't find a good font.

Oh I love the one with Apocalypse in it...very nice...my mentor

Worked on a Logan Wallpaper ... *sigh*

Isn't he just beautiful. Too beautiful for words *swoooon!*

Enjoy!

Thanks, actually when you are in photoshop I'm sure you are using various layers, eh? Goto the layer your text is make sure it's active then goto Layer menu + Layer Styles + Bevel&Emboss it will give you the options to 3-D your text or sometimes photos although I prefer it more for Text.

As far as the Magneto metal bushing is done in the same way above but use a metal texture. If that doesn't work you can create one and save it to your patterns directory. If you need help with this let me know.

Oh, ya' know I have to figure out what font I did use for that because I did it in Ulead Cool 3-D a long time ago. When I open the file I'll let you know but it might be Bragdaccio, don't hold me to it but might be that one :-P

lol. oh yea, you should know that I don't use Photoshop on my manips. It's too complicated for me. I only use it for word balloons. I use an old ass photo editing software called Ulead PhotoExpress. I've been using it for 5 yrs so it's hard for me to learn photoshop.

btw, where are you getting these photos of Wolverine and Magneto? I don't think I've seen them b4. can I use some?

oh and it wasn't Bragdaccio but I'll wait til you find it.

The characters Gambit, Cannonball and Juggernaut is from anybody and not from me. Avalanche is from X-Men Legends.

Oh that's even more impressive. WOWzers! I didn't know Express had that much capability.  You should learn photoshop if you can. You'd probably be even better if you learned.

You shouldn't use other ppl's work like that. Since my Juggernaut was meant as a joke, I'll let you slide.

I dig this. Nice work. However, one comment - I think either the helmet is too big or Vinnie's head is too small. If Juggernaut is going to be huge, I would hope that his head looks proportional.........yet I'm not even sure if it was ever that way in the comics.

No, it wasn't. He had a smaller head.
