The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The one, the only SPIDEY Costume thread!

I think as the series progresses, Peter should get slightly more muscular throughout each movie.

Why isn't there a poll for this thread!?

Personally, I'd vote awesome.

Right. Some people dig that. But they already attempted that body type with the Raimi series. Bring on the youthful, lanky Spidey which we have now.

i do like the way andrew garfield's spiderman looks in comparison to tobey's, but i'm not lookin for a stick figure. he should be lean under the suit.

Hmmm, I'm torn. On the one hand I like more classical elements on the other I prefer the grittier look of the TAS Suit. The texture and material looked more sturdy. It looked like something that could take some punishment and the new one looks... flimsy in comparison. It looks kinda cosplayerish.

I don't like TASM 2 suit, it didn't take any risk and it's basically the raimi suit, same material, same approach, boring! It felt out character with andrew's Peter parker whose more tactile and whose into extreme sport, This more tobey's PP whose naive and childish. I miss the TASM suit, I really do, but the majority of fans hated TASM suit, I don't know why they hate it so much, i really don't. To me, it's my 2nd favorite CBM suit next to Ironman. God, i hate the fact that Sony listens to the fans that hated the TASM suit rather than the fans who support it ( which surprisingly, not many)...

I really love both, i was a little sad they changed so much so quickly but i can't deny it looks incredible.

maybe a middle ground with the classic suit appearing in S-M3 would have made me personally happier but it's certainly not something i would dwell on.

I echo the sentiments about the gloves, i too loved those!

Ah harsh! Haha

Yeah. I think it makes a statement though. I think the wrinkles and the quality is a statement that it could also stand for something a kid made. Idk. I see what you mean. It lacks the "movie magic".

AG is is muscular they were talking about it in an intrview and felt Bruce Lee's physique was the way to go and if you saw pics of Andrew he has gotten more muscle

The design of the new suit combined with the colors/materials of the old suit would have been the perfect scenario.

I really liked the old suit, but the new one is just awesome it's so classic.

I think this suit is the best I've ever seen in a CBM. It's classic Spidey.

I don't have the best eye for this but now that we have some great shots of the new costume, is there a good breakdown or side by side compare and contrast of this suit against the Raimi suit?

I'm don't see a whole lot of difference except the narrower red torso and webbing being less raised.
They nailed a LOT about the suit this time. Arguably the feel of a lot of it is still very much in line with the Raimi films, but the slimmer frame, and the eyes, make a world of difference, especially in motion.

I would have liked to see them retain at least SOMETHING from the first ASM film's suit, same goes for the overall aesthetic of the film. Have some confidence/commitment in what you've established at least.

Still, I'm very happy with what we are seeing so far (outside of yet another ****ing butchered Goblin.)

at first I was hesitant about skipping immediately to the classic costume but on another thread a few points about the elements the second TASM costume did retain the first ASM costume and the similarities and differences between the Raimi suit and the second Webb costume.

Such as the back of the Spidey costume being very similar to each other and the lines/seams in the blue. They're kinda like seams. A few fans pointed out that the blue parts of the second ASM costume looks as though like they took the material from the first ASM suit and applied it to the costume while the used the red parts from the Raimi costume.

the top of the back is different but also The back Spider on the second Webb costume is slimmer and smaller (not as slim as the first costume but definitely slimmer that the Raimi spider) but it definitely resembles the first ASM back spider more than it does the Raimi one.

and although Raimi and Webb Spider-man costume shares the similarity of having raised webbing and the red parts of the Spider-Man costume, the webbing on Webb's costume is more discrete and black and the design of the webbing itself matches or is at least really similar to the first Webb costume webbing(well at least the upper half of the webbing). Plus it looks like the red is brighter on Raimi's costume while the blue is brighter on the second TASM Costume

so they really mixed and matched elements from the first ASM costume, Raimi costume while looking really similar to the comics Spider-Man costume(particularly Mark Bagley Ultimate Spider-Man costume) and the front spider on the second ASM costume looks like a melding between the first ASM costume and the Raimi costume.

but I do got to say this: The second Spider-Man costume does look like the comics( particularly Mark Bagley/Stuart Immonen type Ultimate Spider-Man design come to life on screen)

I like the little details of Paolo Rivera added details to the costume in Mythos Spider-Man like how Peter's right eye piece is slowly falling off his costume or how the left glove is big enough to see some wrist showing

I liked the ASM suit after living with it for a bit. At first it was too out there, but I came around to it.

The new one is a big improvement, though there are a few nitpicky things I don't like.

The eyes aren't quite right for me. I'd like to have seen a thicker black border by reducing the size and taking out some of the roundness of the white eye part. He looks surprised all of the time. I think something like this would be perfect:

It's subtle but makes a big difference IMO.

I also noticed that in some shots the suit looks a little loose and there's a bunch of wrinkling:

The last one is surely CGI, so the wrinkly look seems to be intentional. I'm not a fan.

And I'd also have stayed away from raised webbing. Though not a crazy as the Raimi suits, I think going with the ASM webbing would've been the way to go: thinner and more embedded.

Going back to the eyes, what would you guys think of having them CGI where they could be animated? You know, to have them change when Spidey is angry, concentrating, surprised, etc. Too creepy?

I actually like the wrinkling. To me it helps feel better in motion and looks that a high school kid has a pretty decent chance of making(way better than the Raimi costume, and as pretty faithful as it is, It doesn't have that element for me). Plus scenes like Spider-Man in the clock towers as well as the third screen cap in the trailer feels like he showing a different emotions(more serious urgency if anything).

Looking at the new international trailer, I think I'm liking the new suit less. Not for the design, which is perfect, minus the tiny issue I have with the eyes, but for the fabric used. Looks to me, for a lack of a better word, cheap. I really liked the texture of the ASM suit, I'd love to see a version of the new in that material.

And maybe with a more redder shade of red. In some shots it's almost like a purple-y red.

Pleas God make that panel of Paolo Rivera into a live action movie NOW :wow::wow: Love that Ditko costume.

I like the transition. Over the next 2 movies I'm all for changing the costume each time. Maybe next movie adding a utility belt with Spider-Tracers. Putting a Spider-Light on the centre of his belt and so on.

I had done a couple of manips with the belt and the flashlight.

Never realized this before but Spider-Man is the only male superhero who gets gratuitous ass shots in all his promo art. :o

Yeah I saw a few people saying ASM seems to be the first superhero movie trying to give the ladies some eye candy as well. I don't really agree that it's a first, (I mean we all saw Thor 2, right?) but it certainly goes a lot farther than most.

Exactly my words
while I agree TASM was one of the better superhero costumes and I like the approach Mark Webb and the costume designers went with it, I feel looking at the close ups and comparing the second ASM costume to both the Raimi costume and the first Mark Webb costume that it's faithful to both in it's own ways and it feels like a mix of the Ultimate Spider-Man(more specificly the Mark Bagley, John Romita Jr. and Stuart Immonen Spider-Man come to life while at the same time feels like a kid made it and a real homemade compared to Raimi which almost never felt like someone like Peter could make the costume on his own(I honestly don't get the cheap Halloween costume complaints of either this costume or the first one because it makes sense given that the comics point this out almost constantly)

Pleas God make that panel of Paolo Rivera into a live action movie NOW :wow::wow: Love that Ditko costume.

agreed that costume looks fantastic.

I had done a couple of manips with the belt and the flashlight.
I can't wait for the movie where they finally utilize other Spidey equipment like the Spider tracers or the Spider Signal. Half surprised that Marvel didn't make toys out of those equipments.

right and here's another picture of Spider-Man's back side. wow that has to say something that he has that many pictures focused on his ass/back compared to other movie heroes

by the way thanks to screen caps AF3619 put up, it looks like the second ASM Web Shooters still has the red flash and puff of air like the first webshooters did which adds another element from the first ASM costume they kept in the design of the second

I loved the texture of the suit in TASM. I just didn't like all the extra geometric shapes angles on the gloves

Remember a discussion regarding the back of the new costume. Someone was saying that the part where the red meets on the back of the costume (above the spider) is shaped like a "M".

Saw this in the new int trailer. It's still straight after all.
