A few assorted thoughts:
-I'm surprised The Departed wasn't in the top 50 or on any of the "almost" lists. It would be in my top 10 (but these things can always change--I haven't seen every movie on the list).
My sentiments exactly good sir.I do agree I was more affected by the end battle in TTT. I mean from the moment Aragorn looks out the window and sees the light shining in with Gandalf's "Look to my coming..." line until the very end is what makes me love movies. If you were to ask me, that would be it. To me, it's something like that that have made films last this long.
I don't think that there is anything wrong with bringing TDK up in this thread. Alot of people think it's the best thing ever so why wouldn't it be?
What you say is true. I try not to but I find myself apart of the latter group...and I also loved the movie. It's getting annoying because the people that bring it up are either overzealous and obsessive to the point of pissing everyone off or feel the need to constantly bring it down because of the first group.
I love the hell out of TDK, but both groups really need to do everyone a favor and ****.
Gah, I've yet to see Eternal Sunshine for the Spotless Mind, Squid and the Whale, Mullholland Dr., Almost Famous, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Grizzly Man, Before Sunset, Waking Life, Punch Drunk Love, AI, Gerry, City of God, and Adaption.![]()

Kill yourself.
I've only seen Eternal Sunshine and the Grizzly Man movie. I'd recommend Grizzly Man.
DV you're in high school right? Sorry if I'm mistaken. I only ask because I think Almost Famous is an absolutely necessary film to see in high school. It isn't technically a "high school" film in the way say, Dazed and Confused is, but it's insights about growing up and finding your place in the world are just wonderful. It's really about being a fan to, and what it means to be a nerd, or anyone else who is looking from the outside in. The quote in my sig is from the film, and it really resonates with me even now.
I need to see Elephant. And don't worry about not seeing those films yet, you have tons of time to see them! You'd really like Adaptation too I think.
That list actually inspired me to rent American Psycho and Before Sunset. Haven't watched Before Sunset yet, but I watched American Psycho last night. It was really not at all what I was expecting. I thought it was going to be more of a straight up thriller, but it was funny and disturbing. A very interesting deconstruction of the American privileged male. Patrick Bateman is almost the anti-Tyler Durden when you think about it.
Watch it. Now.The Prestige is just a fantastic movie.... Both Bale and Jackman were amazing.
I actually got Memento on DVD a few months ago, but have yet to watch it, I dont know whats wrong with me...
