At least one of those tapes was labelled "1992", so I'm assuming there's some more story there.

Hope so. I was surprised a how effective PA 3 was. I thought I had become too jaded by horror movies to really enjoy them. Man was I wrong.

I thought it was the best of the series. Expanded on the mythology and tried a few new tricks (like the fan camera) that were really effective. Usually by the third movie, they're just going through the motions, so I was surprised how much the events were amped up there. Probably part of the reason I thought this one was a bit of a letdown.

Agreed on all counts.

Has anyone seen this? Apparently the viral marketing for PA5 has started...this made-up person's FB page has a video of a VHS tape he found in his new house. The tape is of Katie and Kristi, circa PA3:

And it also looks like the daughter in that guy's videos was one of the girls at Alex's party where they were all playing the Kinect in PA4. :wow:

Interesting, I like they are branching off like that.

Will PA5 be the last in the series? I saw PA4 and while it had a few good scare moments, I was a bit letdown after the success of PA3. I was hoping they would move the story along but it seems to just stay there. Hopefully PA5 will explain a lot of things. Still think PA3 is the best in the series so far. Still enjoyed PA4 more than Sinister.

I love this Jacob Delgoshi character and viral they've created for PA5 (if it indeed leads into PA5). I think he's living in the house from PA2 because he just moved in and the swimming pool is the same one. I think we should all keep a closer eye on this fellow and see where it leads.

I hope we get answers to all the questions in PA4. I feel that film could be better if PA5 wraps up whatever loose ends it has, But keep in mind, we still haven't seen this house fire we've heard about since the first film.

That's really cool. So if he is indeed the star of the new Paranormal series he'll probably be dead in about two months lol.

Wow, the first post on his Facebook is from April. I wonder if they were working on multiple films at the same time.

I saw this for a second time at a 4 dollar matinee with some friends who hadn't seen it yet. I caught a few things this time around. I will put them in spoiler tags just in case.

okay during the first Skype chat between Alex and Ben, Ben mentions something about having to go to Mexico or his family going to Mexico ( maybe a hint with the after credits scene?). Also when we see the kids playing kinect and they have a avatar for Toby, Ben asks Robbie if that's what Toby looks like. Robbie says " sometimes" so I assume Toby can shape shift/ change forms because later on he appears in kid form. Lastly, at the ending of the movie in the room Alex is in before demon Katie chases her, the windows have newspapers with Spanish articles on them ( another reference to the after credits scene).

Regarding Robbie and Toby.

So I hear a lot of people suggest Robbie was Toby in "human form". I don't think that makes much sense because Robbie introduced Wyatt (love that name btw lol) to Toby in the first place, even playing games together. Toby is the 3rd wheel. The 3rd party. I think Robbie was indeed a spirit himself, used to lure Wyatt into trusting Toby. I mean, I'm pretty sure the ghost child that followed Wyatt down the stairs was Robbie. And I think the writers meant for that to be obvious, but I guess it didn't really work in their favor lol.

wow, never thought of that but agree. Anybody know if there was ever talk about bringing Ali back from the second one? She seems to be the only survivor in this series so far.

The maid, Ali, and Randy are the only ones who knows about it.

I don't think Robbie was Toby in human form, I just think it would have made a better twist (in a movie that desperately needed them) than just having Robbie disappear midway through the movie with no explanation as to who he was. The kid who played him was great, so they could have had a lot fun with a twist like that.

I forgot about Randy. Although I'm pretty sure he probably wants to forget all about it, so I don't expect ever seeing him again.

I wouldn't mind seeing Ali again though. Was any of the cult people at the end of PA3 men?

Where all the posessed people at the end of PA4 female?

Yeah, it's a witches coven. All women. Someone on the IMDB message board (so take this with a bucket of salt) said that they were an extra in the final scene, which featured 300 women and that a couple versions of the final scene were shot. One of which featured Alex being grabbed by some unseen creature and flown away.

Okay. This movie was ass. But I have one question...

Who or what is the other demon? The child-like figure?

It's my belief that was, in fact, Robbie. I believe that was the writers way of revealing to the audience that Robbie was a spirit the whole time and did not exist in physical form. But I think it flew right over audiences's heads lol.

Flew over mine if that was the case. It doesn't make sense though, because it is something that hadn't been established. If they never show us
what the witches are capable of, and Toby has never been visible to us without flour or dust falling like in PA3. So suddenly saying "Look at our ghost child! you can see him! Until we don't need him anymore anyway." Just makes it feel more convoluted if that is the case, especially with the questions raised by Hunter's adoption

I'm pretty sure during one of the Kinect scenes though, Robbie and Wyatt were chasing the little ghost boy around. I remember seeing the ghost boy slightly in front of them as they were chasing him. This was the scene where they were running around in the middle of the night and the mom came down to yell at them.

Given we saw a figure of similar size hiding under the sheets in PA3, I'm thinking it's Toby.

Well, at least the directors are fully aware that audiences are confused by all these unanswered questions. In an interview with MTV they answer some questions about Robbie, Alex, and Wyatt.

http://m.mtv.com/news/article.rbml?...&alt=http://m.mtv.com/news/index.rbml&cid=300

.......MTV News turned to the directors, Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, for the answers.

If Wyatt is Hunter, who the hell is Robbie?
That's right. We got tricked. While all of the trailers and the first half of the movie led us to believe that Robbie was an older version of the kidnapped Hunter, it was actually Alex's brother, Wyatt. So then, what's up with Robbie?

"I think if you watch the film again, what Robbie's doing will become a little clearer," Joost said. "We have a very specific idea of what he is and how he fits into the larger picture, but we really felt like in 'Paranormal' tradition, it's better to just give the tiniest amount of information at a time and leave Robbie this mysterious character." Joost's co-direcor offered up a more complete answer. "Robbie is a messenger," Schulman said. "He's sort of a messenger for the coven, and he has a relationship with Toby where, if it's time for Toby to meet a new child, Robbie can service that arrangement as the introduction."

But then how did Wyatt end up with Alex's family?
Since "Paranormal Activity 2" ends with Katie abducting Hunter, it doesn't necessarily make sense for him to be with another family at the start of "Paranormal 4." So what gives?

"That, I think, would have to be the subject of another movie," Joost said.
What's the deal with Robbie's "very expensive fork"?
When Robbie first arrives, he brings with him a bag full of special items, including one fork that seems important but is never mentioned again. It turns out that the young actor who played Robbie, Brady Allen, just made the whole thing up himself.

"That's just that kid riffing," Schulman said. "He sort of put together a bag of objects and just made stuff up. One of them was a 'very expensive fork, one hundred years old. Be very careful with that fork.' "Does Alex die at the end?

Most deaths in the "Paranormal Activity" series are unambiguous. We'll either see a person get bent in half, or some text on the screen will say her body was found. But when Katie catches up with Alex, the screen cuts to black before we know her fate. The directors suggested that there is no cut-and-dry answer for what happened. "Does Alex go down?" Joost said. "I don't know. It's hard to say. There's no visual proof."

"A bunch of fans came up to me last night, pitching ideas for 'Paranormal 5,' and a lot of them had to do with Alex surviving," Schulman said, "which I thought was pretty interesting, considering the ending."
Check out everything we've got on "Paranormal Activity."

I do think PA4 is the weakest entry thus far, even though I still loved it. But I do believe if and when we see how all of these unanswered questions DO get answered, it'll make PA4 a much better film. Not to mention all this viral marketing they're playing up right now. I'm really excited for the next film!

God this movie was terrible. Just terrible. Terrible acting, stupid jump scares, a demon that doesnt do anything, they're filming for no reason have the movie, an ending that's the exact same as the 3rd one. Unbelievable how awful this was

My problem is still the same where this isnt going anywhere and not answering the question they continue to raise. Its the old dangling carrot routine now and sure the first was good and it caught people by surprise but now most audiences are hip to there act and this might very well be the saw 4 of this franchise where there's no where to go but down. The thing too that might hinder questions being answered is the very thing that sells the franchise and its the handheld view. When they shoot like they have the 1st 4 you dont leave alot of room for the audience to get much needed exposition and its more about the scares. I mean they need a set up where we meet a new family and then scary stuff starts to happen and by the last 15 minutes they try to answer one or 2 questions because of that. If we get a continuation where the young girl doesnt die in this one then maybe there will be room where they can answer questions through her experiences.
