Loving the choice of villains so far. I'm excited to see what Reeves does with Penguin and Riddler. Both of them give me a lighter vibe, almost to the point of comic relief compared to the other big guns in some Batman stories.

I'm intrigued to see a serious take
He's much more than that. Potential for Penguin is huge. The problem is a lot of writers never utilized him properly. As for recommended stories, definitely pick up Penguin: Pain and Prejudice, Detective Comics #610 & 611, Batman #548 & 549, Penguin Triumphant, Batman #448, 449, & Detective Comics #615, Joker's Asylum Penguin issue.

Thanks a bunch! Looking forward to digging into those, and seeing what Reeves does with him.

Unfortunately, Bat-villains not being utilized properly is all too common. That's why I really cherish stories where the villains are used to their full potential.

Penguin as a Moriarty-esque criminal mastermind.

I wonder how that would play out with Riddler in the game as well. I'd expect Riddler to take that role, and Penguin as the leader of Gotham's underworld.

But hey, a story with 3 brilliant minds (Batman, Riddler, and Penguin), could be extraordinary.

I think he is going to regret this when he sees Reeves’ Penguin. :csad:

He just did Justin Long's podcast and talked about how he hasn't actually acted on camera since filming Maniac two years ago, and honestly he'd be fine doing some directing and living comfortably and is done trying to be the biggest star. Said he's become the healthiest mentally he's ever been when he stopped identifying as "Jonah Hill the actor"

Obviously that can change, Pattinson probably would have puked at the idea of playing Batman right after Twilight. But I think Jonah will be good.

Toby Jones and Michael Stuhlbarg are the best choices I've heard, so far. I could easily see either as the Penguin.

I've been watching The Deuce, and David Krumholtz has been doing some good work. His weight seems to yo-yo due to health reasons, but he's currently at a hefty weight, and I could see him along the lines of a scummy, Devito style Penguin.

This is him in May, I don't think he's at that weight anymore.

Oh right. At least he is enjoying life more this way then.

I like the Paul Hausen suggestion. But I've never seen the infamous audition tape

The video he put out campaigning for penguin was really bad imo. Not to say he'd be a bad choic . But that video wasnt a good look lol.

I have no idea why, but I kinda feel like the Paul Dano casting makes Jesse Plemons a bit more likely for whatever reason. Obviously Plemons is the lesser actor of the two but he strikes me as having a similar vibe for some reason, and he'd be better than Seth Rogen.

I can't see Plemons as the Penguin at all. I get some of you might like him as an actor, but what about him strikes you as being a good fit for the Penguin? I think he's way too everyman an actor to be a major villain, the same problem I have with some of the suggestions in this thread. He's the guy you cast as the put upon, incompetent second in command, not the man himself.

Dan Fogler.

Young(ish), short, fat, comedic actor, low profile. He's not great but he's not bad either.

And WB likes to keep it in family. Fantastic Beasts represent.

Breaking Bad, Black Mirror he shows charisma, a bunch of nuance in performance and that he can be a creepy, genuinely sinister villain. Even Game Night which was a wildly different comedic performance, he’s very good at making nuanced choices that command attention and put you at unease.

I’d LOVE if he got cast.

Yes! Now this casting I like for the Penguin. Loved him in the Fantastic Beasts movies and hey, they already plucked Zoe from that franchise. Why not double dip? Or triple dip and grab Alison Sudol for Poison Ivy?

Of the work I've seen him in, Fargo, Breaking Bad, Friday Night Lights, and The Master, he's put in good performances, but nothing to suggest he's right for the Penguin. He's a working class type actor, he doesn't give off an aristocrat vibe.

I see the every man, like i see the every man in Paul Dano... + something weird, some other qualities, like there are a lot going on. And Plemons has autoritative qualities : see him in his Black Mirror episode, and he is scary too in it. I see Plemons doing whatever Reeves want for The Penguin, in his sleep.

Michael Stuhlbarg... just watch any episode of him on Boardwalk Empire.

Never saw him act, but i lke the vibe that he communicates, in those gifts

I know it sounds shallow but Plemons is too tall for Peguin, imo. He's only a notch shorter than Dano. My top picks at this moment are Fogler or (and I know it'd probably never happen) Jason Alexander. I've always thought he'd make a good Penguin.
