I wouldn't mind Tom Hanks since he said he wanted to play a bat villain. I wouldn't regularly say he fits the part but I also never expected a skinny Gotham Tv version which I think is neat.

A short, skinny Penguin I can accept because Penguin can always get fatter as he grows older. A six foot tall, skinny Penguin is more of a stretch, no pun intended.

I remember the campy tv guy and Batman returns looks like the comic version that I've seen ( with the burton film making him grotesque) I could be wrong but both had a top hat, monacle and I believe he has a long cigarette and uses his umbrella as a weapon.
People don't want to see that do they?

The Gotham show is up and down for me. I like seeing different characterizations. I do like the Penguin on that show. The busted walk he had I thought was clever. Maybe that's been done before though. No idea. I never understood the umbrella though with the character.

When he was a kid his father died of pneumonia after being caught in a severe rain shower. Since that his mother used to force him to carry an umbrella all the time. One day he was being picked on by bullies and he used the umbrella as a weapon to hurt them. Ever since he's used them as weapons.

I always think of the trailer for a Dabney Coleman movie ,where he's purposely trying to get killed in the line of duty for his family, but he can't succeed. I think he even tries to take a blast from a grenade and it goes through his legs down some stairs. " You missed me again, you idiot!!"

Not really. I'm actually quite open to it, which is why Michael Emerson is my top choice for the role.

I think it works really well. Disguising such lethal weaponry as something harmless is actually kind of creepy I think.

You know the KGB used umbrellas rigged with poison tips for assassinations.

Emerson feels more Riddler to me. I don't need Penguin to be fat. But i don't like him skinny.
