Thank you! Granted, I'm still learning, tho! Just getting back into it after being outta of it for so long. I really like that 1st and 3rd one, but I'm really biased to B&W. I love it, and it shows more artist value, IMO.

My latest one, and I guess I need to start watermarking stuff. Hahaha.

So I'm thinking of buying a new lens (i'm still shooting on the kit lens), and I'm torn between two.

I currently shoot on an Olympus E-420 with a 17.5-45mm f/3.5-5.6

The 12-60mm f/2.8-4.0

Which seems like a really versatile lens, and would be great for some travel I have coming up

or

sigma 30mm f/1.4

Which is cheaper, and better for low light shooting which I seem to do a lot of.

Thoughts?

Dr. Watson,

The Sigma is a prime, which will keep you at that, while it's fast, I would still have a zoom. Plus, 3rd party lens aren't as good in quality as say name of the company. Granted, there is exceptions, but you have to look for them. 2.8 F stop is pretty good, and the star one I took on my 50mm prime at 2.5. Granted, it all boils down to what you want to spend. I mean, I'm looking at 2 L Lens for Canon, and each is about 1K a pop.

Are you using a macro lens? Ya could always get extension tubes and use it with a prime, which would be a little bit cooler, and closer, IMO. Not bad stabs at it other wise, tho, IMO.

nope the shots were a combo of a sigma 18-250 and a sigma 70-300

Here is a few more pictures of the mountains, and lemme tell ya. It was FREAKING COLD while I was taking these. Also, all of my lighting should be here by Monday. Woot! Then a few weeks to learn it all.

Bump before the fall off!

This was all shot with my new lighting, and using one flash gun off camera and the last one was shot through a umbrella which was about 6 feet away from him give or take a bit. The rest was shot bare flash on a stand with a good wind. =)

Thanks! Pretty soon I should be getting my other two flash guns, and I will be learning that. We should see how that goes! Also, I guess in a way I got "hired" to do my GM's daughter sweet 16th birthday in April for free for a practice run to see how things go. =)

there you go. my friend just got me to do her family photos and i actually kind of enjoyed it. it was a chaotic mess to say the least and i was in no way prepared, but the pics are decent

G'Luck if ya do! It can get very, very expensive and frustration hobby. So far I've spent on a entry level camera, two lens, 3 flashs, light stands, Triggers, umbrella's and all of that for about 1.5K dollars, and this is just cheap stuff. =) Cause anyone can take good pictures, it's just how you using it. I've seen some fantastic shots from even P&S. Just with SLR's you can get more control, and creativity tossed in.

But it can be very rewarding once ya nail it and "get it."

Long as the people are happy with them, that's all that matters in the end, really. A lot of people aren't picky for they are so use to seeing cell phone pictures, webcams, that it's pretty easy to do or folks that use "Auto" mode.

With my OCF I get asked a lot now if I'm a pro, and we all know the answer to that! But I'm loving it anyways. It's going to be tricky cause I'm not use to indoor photography as of yet, plus, I don't think I'll be able to have my stands. So going to be most likey bouncing the flash off the ceiling or walls so don't get that "Blown out" look.
