for those of you who are DSLR users, could you post what camera models and what size lenses you have?

bumping to new page

Cannon 500D

Lenses.... Erm... not sure.... will post them tomorrow

thanks a lot. i'd really like to get a nice DSLR in the future and I'm interested in researching different models/lenses/etc

I meant CANON not CANNON.... LOL

CC,

Currently have a Rebel XS 18-55, 55 to 250, and Nifty Fifty. Also carrying 3 Flashguns, with triggers, filters, and 3 stands. Also looking into studio equipment as of this point. =)

I do want a 1Ds Mark III, but realistically I'm going to get a few L glass, and 7D until I can afford Mk2.

That might help ya out, it's a good strong fourm! Learned alot from them!

Dr Lee,

Thanks! I was hoping to do another scene of it tonight lookin' over Cruces, but we are suppose to get rain (Oh, boy we need it!) so I'm going to wait a day or two to have things clear up and take a stab at it.

Cool looking plant I found. :)

I'm considering a used Nikon D200 as my first DSLR (my Nikon F100 is being cleaned). The specs seem good compared to a used D80. Used price is good. But damn if I'll be buying any of the accessories for this. Case in point: an L-bracket.

Now I bought an L-bracket for my F100 because when I turn it 90 degrees, the proximity of the lens doesn't change from an Arca Swiss tripod mount. The center of the image is the same however you turn it. But with the newer digital models, the ones that have attachable battery grips, the difference is too much. I would not waste money for an L-bracket.

Just some stuff I took on my camera phone from Disney.

Took quite a few, but only about 1/4 really turned out well, IMO. Cave shooting is really hard, and I wish 7D or 5D Mark II. =/

All of these are shot in Carlsbad Caverns!

I haven't been in this thread for awhile, but really nice shot there Dr. Lee. No reflection from flash, if used, and tack sharp!

I've been playing with surrealism and lighting, making photos upside down so it almost seems like an abstract image. Nothing mind-blowing, obviously... but it's something I want to do further experimenting with.

Mr.Wolvers,

What do you want to do? Are you really serious? Or just partly?

Update!

All right! Before and after shots! Revisited some of my old photo's, and took another stab at with Post Processing (PP) to see how they turned out. Not a pro yet, but getting the hang of it I do believe.

Without further ado!

CC,

What camera are ya using? If ya can, I would try to get a CPL or a GND and help with the sky blowing out, IMO. I really do like the last one, and it's a either piece.

Same guy from above since his mom contact me since she loved the other work I did with them, so my first real paid photo gig, and these are two fave's of mine so far that I didn't have to do much editing too. =)

Oh, first time using my softbox, which I had his dad hold as I instructed. All one light!

what does CPL and GND stand for?

it was my uncles camera so i don't remember what it was

CC,

CPL - Circular Polarizer: also referred to as polarizing filters, can be used to create circularly polarized light or alternatively to selectively absorb or pass clockwise and counter-clockwise circularly polarized light. (Other words make a sky more blue, for example).

I used the CPL on my Grand Canyon shots.

GND - Graduated Neutral Density: is a neutral density filter with different attenuation at different points, typically clear in one half shading into a higher density in the other. It can be used, for example, to photograph a scene with part in deep shadow and part brightly lit, where otherwise either the shadows would have no detail or the highlights burnt out.

ND - Neutral Density: is a filter of uniform density which attenuates light of all colors equally. It is used to allow a longer exposure (to create blur) or larger aperture (for selective focus) than required for correct exposure in the prevailing light conditions, without changing the tonal balance of the photograph.

Just thought be easier to copy from Wiki. =) Explains it's a bit better than I can and I hope this helps out!

Great pics! In the next few days I'm expecting the Nikon SU-4 for multiple flash photography use. I bought a used SB-27 speedlight for my master flash and will use my SB-28 for the slave flash. In addition I bought a remote flash trigger if I wanted to be more flexible with my off-camera flash shots.

Red,

Thanks! You'll have fun with OCF, but it's a totally different beast lemme tell ya. Took me a few months to get it down, and still sometimes in harsh lighting conditions it's still hard for me. I just like the portability overall, tho.

Ah perfect I was looking for a thread for photography. Here's a few I took on my phone through an app filter.

The only thing I hate about my remote flash trigger is it doesn't offer TTL capabilities. It's a third party tool but Nikon doesn't offer anything besides the SU-4, which only works with a master and slave flash system. So any single remote flash I do will require manual calibration of the flash before I shoot. Still, the flexibility of the distance is a great bonus!

A few more things that I took.
