Dr Lee Thank you :)

Lunar_Wolf lmao, I think I'm going to rename that pic the circle of confusion

Midnyte_Sun Thank you :)

Awesome shots Thalidomide! The last one looks like a carousel without any horses, what was it of?

I'm buying my first flash today: Canon Speedlite 430 EX II. I'm going to have plenty of opportunities to take good photos of friends, family, and also coworkers at different events coming up. Anybody have any good sites that help you take good portrait shots?

Howdy!

Awesome pictures! I am falling behind, huh? Hope to have a few pictures from today since I am in Sedona, AZ at the moment.

I would suggest Strobist, and Neil VanNeirk. Really good work with flash and good information.

Haven't taken any pictures in awhile due to being sick, but I got out one day. Didn't really get anything good.

Wanted to play around with the contrast and saturation from the image I posted above.

I wish I had the equipment to capture some of the spectacular images I see on this thread.

I have a fascination with capturing the rising or setting sun as it catches the clouds and makes them look like they are on fire. Here are a few times I have been in the right place at the right time with my camera phone. It's a Blackberry Curve.

It's not about what camera you are using it's how about how you use it. There are lots of people who has an slr camera but still shoots in auto mode which is silly. There are tons of great pictures on the internet which are taken from point and shoot cameras. :)

I took this photo using a Sony digital camera.

Trying again with the macro..pretty disappointed again.

I realize now that probably need: Plenty of off camera flash, a lot more patience, and a tripod, to get a really fabulous macro shot.

If I kill the bug, I think I might have better luck making it hold still.

Great shots guys with the Camera phone and digital point and shoots. I still think going with a real manual adjustable camera, even a mirrorless one, would be to anybody's benefit.

It's a nice macro shot. I've tried to take pictures of bee's a few weeks ago and it was so damn hard. Took about 50 shots but only one came out decent.

Yeah, that bug above was bobbing his head up and down like he was listening to death metal. Here's my 2nd attempt from today which turned out better:

Quick info on shots:

Taken with my 100mm f2.8L with 1.4x Tamron teleconverter handheld. Light was from two mounted 430ex II with diffuse filters.
