The PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Thread

strange that the game is free, you get the vita version with online pass for free but you have to pay 9.99 for the online pass for the PS3 version.
No you don't. The online pass downloaded automatically with the PS3 version when I checked it out of my cart. Must have been a glitch in the store or something when you went for it or it hadn't been fully updated at that point.

must be I did download it and then copy the vita version/w/online pass to the vita then installed it so now have it on both systems but I did not try to see if I can play the PS3 online yet.

EDIT I just played a quick match and was able to use online so you are right when you download it it automatically installs thanks for the tip Havok.

I don't think it matters what I post or think. If you have a rebuttal, post it if you want.

i don't have a rebuttal, but it does matter to me wat you post or think, i'd like you to say what you meant with the superbot thing

Superbot put more time in hyping the game, which generating hype is fine, but not enough time actually making it good. They promised worthwhile 3rd party characters that have close ties to the Playstation's history, and instead we got 3rd party characters that were there just to advertise their then-upcoming or newly released titles, such as the wrong Devil May Cry Dante for his DMC, Big flippin' Daddy (a character most associated with Xbox longer than Playstation) to promote the next Bioshock, MGS Raiden for the sake of the soon to be released Metal Gear Rising, and Heihaichi of Tekken (which would have been perfect considering Tekken's actual history & longevity with Sony, but gee, wonder why they went with specifically the Tekken Tag Tournment 2 Heihachi? Was it to market that newest Tekken?)

Superbot's decision to delay the DLC of Dart from Legend of Dragoon (a character I really wanted) saw that it flat out never happened. After Gravity Kat and that Dead Space 3 guy's DLC, Dart and Abe were next.

Superbot's choices for the roster in general I disliked. Where were the Sony of Japan characters? So few of them made it in. Where was the Easter Egg content? Throw us some vintage bones, here. Some reference to Jumping Flash! and Tomba for us old farts would have been a nice touch. Team ICO didn't get a single ref in any form in the entire game. The roster was supposed to be (as Superbot's Omar Kendall posted on the Playstation blog) a "celebration of the Playstation's history", but was instead a majority of only recent characters and 3rd party marketing "buy our games" fodder.

Finally, the "Super Moves Kill" only approach saw that my group of friends would shelve this game prematurely. That wasn't my biggest hang-up, but it didn't help it's appeal with me.

Superbot made some interesting choices with the direction of the game. I didn't like most of them.

I thought Sony shut the studio that made this down, did that not happen?

glad you brought this up, I agree. if they used dante, it'd have made sense to use the dante that was exclusive to the Ps2 DmC games.

bioshock is seen as an xbox franchise, so big daddy was another headscratcher.

raiden was another, and snake would've been a better fit and it would've been interesting seeing as how he was also in smash.

and yeah, being a long time player of tekken i didn't like them having the ttt2 heihachi in the game either, but i was happy that they added tekken nonetheless

BUT, I don't think all that **** was superbot's fault. isn't sony the one who decided which characters were going to be in the game? if there's there's anyone to blame on this aspect, it's sony.

and yeah, the super power attacks was the worst part about the game; it caused huge imbalance. if they were gonna do a smash clone, they might as well have gone all the way and made the gameplay the same as well, you know?

and that, understandably was superbot's fault.

There was nothing wrong with Superbot. They created a good competent game. I thought its main issue was in the presentation as there was something lacking about the menus, sound/music. It lacked that sort of "oomph" for lack of a better term. I think they created a good foundation that a sequel could have improved upon

More like the individual publishers. Sony didn't own any of those third party characters. They had to get permission and Capcom, 2K, etc told them what they could and couldn't use. It made sense on their end why they would want to promote the characters they did. I don't think Sony had much to bargain with since this was a new unproven project. I think had it been successful and gained critical acclaim, they'd have been in a better position for the sequel, but they took what they could get. Screw the third parties. I was more upset they chose to ignore many of the first party characters they did have as they could have had a healthy roster without even needing to go elsewhere

idk enough about superbot to talk **** about them, but psabr was a letdown and everybody knows it. knowing the graphical capability of the Ps3, even the visuals were a letdown. they should've made the game mechanics much closer to smash.

well, I'm sure sony's thinking of a sequel regardless of how lukewarm the reviews and sales of the first one has been. especially with the Ps4 doing as well as it is, you know.

however, while you're probably right about all those 3rd party characters being in their to promote their individual games... i don't like that they did that. sony should've worked harder to get traditional characters/versions of the characters, the ones that were actually identified with playstation.

there was nothing wrong with the graphics. They tried to do something more original to stay away from the obvious comparisons to Smash. IMO, they should have modeled their game after Powerstone and hopefully a sequel does

just the fact that a game like that exists, will never get away from the comparisons to smash. and no, graphics could've been much better.

what's powerstone?

4 player arena fighter for the Dreamcast. Gameplay was primarily on a 3D plane as opposed to 2D seen in Smash Bros. It was amazing

ah wow, that looks quite interesting! that's full 3D! I wonder why nintendo never tried that approach with smash.

nonetheless, i'd psasbr to first try and do the 2D approach right. however, i think they can include both in one game; have the 2D/3D option, you know?

that would give it an edge, something that really sets it apart from smash in a good way (unlike that superpower ********)

if there is a sequel is it reasonable to believe they may change the title in other words... reboot

anybody know who that is to the far left and right?
